On the eve of the new year, the unexpected ringing of the phone pierces the silence of art dealer Yitzhak Niemand's home. The faint voice heard over the line belongs to a mysterious art collector, who insists on meeting him urgently to discuss a stolen painting. Thus begins the debut novel of author Joseph Sissman, An Art Dealer Named Niemand. Drawing on his own familiarity with the international art world as an art dealer and former gallery owner, Sissman spins a mysterious and thrilling tale that delves into one of the darkest periods of human history. Chile has apologized to Israel over the recent diplomatic incident when the  country's president, Gabriel Boric, refused to accept the credentials of incoming Israeli Ambassador Gil Artzyeli, against the backdrop of the death of a Palestinian youth during an IDF operation. The acting Chilean foreign minister, in a phone call with the director-general of Israel's foreign ministry. stressed that ties with Israel are important for Chile. The acceptance of credentials ceremony has been rescheduled for September 30th. The current president of Chile is a known critic of Israel. Prof. Michael Ehrlich, of the Department of Middle Eastern Studies at Bar-Ilan University, spoke with KAN reporter Naomi Segal about the incident and Israel-Chile relations.

This year’s Israel Festival opens today and runs until next Thursday, 22nd September.

This year’s festival includes fifteen works made of water and spirit – 15 works from Israel and around the world that have been meticulously hand-picked and developed. A mixture of spectacular, large-scale cultural happenings and personal, intimate performances.

 Almost all the works occur in one place – the Jerusalem Theater: on its stages, beside them, above them, underneath them.

It has been exactly two years since the Abraham Accords have been signed, ushering in full and flourishing diplomatic and economic ties between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. These paved the way for diplomatic relations with three other Arab countries: Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan. Dan Feferman, Global Affairs Director at Sharaka and founding member of the UAE-Israel Business Council, said that if the enthusiastic and positive momentum of the Abraham Accords can be sustained then more Arab countries will want to join in the coming years.
