Karina Bourne joins us today to talk about health and safety in the Early Childhood Profession and here experiences as Baby Sitter, Au Pair, Nanny, Early Childhood Educator, Family Day Care provider and with Be You.

Karina talks about why mental health is important in the Early Childhood Profession and some of the risks, hazards, and injuries common to the profession.

For those who work in Early Childhood, those who are involved in safety in the Early Childhood arena, or for anyone who has children, grandchildren or is thinking of having children this conversation provides some useful insights.

Karina Bourne is an Early Childhood Professional and holds a Bachelor of Education (Teaching-Early Childhood Education) from the University of Auckland and brings a rich background of experience working with children of all ages across a range of roles and settings, both in Australia and New Zealand. Some of these roles have included working as a nanny, Early Childhood Teacher, Family Day Care Coordinator,Family Day Care Educator, Trainer and Assessor and Mental Health Consultant.

Karina is passionate about the Early Years and is particularly fascinated by brain development, attachment theories and relationship based practice and advocates for the development of Early Childhood Environments that foster the wellbeing of all.
