There are as many opinions on the evolution of language as there are languages.  Parents of the 60s thought their children sounded stupid when they called everything groovy and far out, and those children thought their children sounded stupid when bad meant good and phat also meant good.  It's the eternal cycle.  It's also neither a good nor a bad thing.  Depending on who you ask, of course.
