4 Hurdles to Being a Good Enough Mom

1-- You constantly doubt yourself.  You don't have belief that you are exactly the right mom for your kids

2-- Motherhood is serious all the time. You always strive for perfection for yourself and your family.  You never let down your hair and admit to mistakes or have fun. 

3--Motherhood is for lone wolves.  You don't have community; you need community.

4--You think you're superwoman.  You are human.  Let yourself be human. Give yourself some slack. 

Self-Care: Text another mom and remind them that they are part of your community and that they are exactly the right mom for their kids. Bonus-- send them this episode too!

Family Fun: Have an indoor snowball fight using balls of socks.

Sometimes we don't like our kids, spouse, mom, dad, siblings, friends, or strangers.  Today let's talk about what to do when that happens with someone in our house.

Write a list of 25 things you love about the person who feels like sandpaper to you.

Write a list of 25 things you like about yourself.  If it's hard, look at a photo of you as a kid. 

Remember your thoughts impact on you feel,  how you feel impacts what you do.  What you do or don't do impacts your thoughts and around and around the cycle goes.

New Year, Same Me, but I'm going to love her better than ever.  Jess Johnston

Christy suggests these ideas to take care of yourself, you rockin' Queen! Don't forget when to close the drawbridge and give yourself space and ease.

1. Body: Your body takes care of you.  Work towards being neutral about the things you don't like.  Thank her for the work she does with you.  Love her more

2. Mind: Your mind helps you find danger and problem-solve.  Be curious and google things with your kids.  Acknowledge the mindless care tasks and try to engage in them with music and audiobooks.  Daydream and try new things.  

3. Soul: Give your soul the gift of one minute of stillness and breathing.  Try it.  When you do it, message me and I'll celebrate you!

4. Heart:  Motherhood is too important to do alone.  Find a community that is focused on common actions (knitting, book clubs, volunteering, choir). 

You are not a project.  You are already a full human that is wonderfully made, and I am lucky to live in the same moment as you!  You are loved and loveable.

You are exactly the right mom for your kids.  

Self-Care: Prep food for yourself like you do for your kids.  You spend a lot of energy feeding your kids.  Take time to nourish yourself with food you enjoy and feel good about.

Family Fun: Kitchen Band!  Have fun! Bang on the pots and pans, drum on bowls, fill glasses with varying levels of water and see what happens when you tap them with a spoon.  Be silly!

1. Scroll all the photos on your camera.  Notice what mattered to you.  What feelings do you feel?

2. Pick a word or a sentence to summarize 2022.  

3. Pick a theme for 2023, Christy's is "Everywhere I look I see miracles."

4. List 10 simple joys that you loved in 2022

5. List 10 random acts of kindness you can do by the end of January 2023.

Self-Care: Try one or all of the five ideas above.  

Family Fun: Plan for New Year-- Milk and cookies? Games? Activities on the hour?
