Kent McGowen was a Texas Police officer who attended an incident involving an arrest warrant which eventually resulted in the death of a woman. He served 20 years in prison.
It was August 1992 when he executed a felony warrant while working in a sting to recover stolen firearms.
In a complex chain of events, he shot the woman in self-defence.
But the circumstances are much more intricate than the above indicates. it's a story of contacts, power play and witness tampering.
If it could happen to a serving officer, it doesn't look good for the rest of us.
