Mark Pope is officially the new head coach for the Kentucky Wildcats, replacing John Calipari and leaving Big Blue Nation caught off guard. Can the former BYU coach and UK alumnus recruit well enough in Lexington to lead this program back to the Final Four? Or will Pope's lack of NCAA Tournament success lead to a quick tenure with the 'Cats?

Kentucky reportedly made little contact with current Chicago Bulls coach Billy Donovan and no contact with Rick Pitino, a sign Pop was their top choice after Scott Drew and Danny Hurley said no. Pope does have a modern offense that should do well at Kentucky, and won 23 games in the Big 12 last year, but the timing of this hire is not doing him any favors with the fan base.
