Shawn is also a social influencer in the city of Dallas most recently known for taking a to task a food delivery service after finding out they were not zoned to service a particular neighborhood. We discuss that along with how do we create exposure to the different alternative tech services and this new thing that's been making a swift rise called cryptocurrency. The final epsiode of the Mental Health Awareness week of IKF and this one is just stories. I received several and picked a few but had some people say "hey lets meet up and talk I have something contribute." So to end this week here are a few stories on how some have dealt with the different mental health cases. Spoiler Alert we have stories from Earon Nealey and David "Caveman" Rickels.
Please share and like and everything that comes with spreading the message. The big thing about awareness is talking about it and sharing materials. Alot of work went into this whole thing and these people shared the darkest places of their life in order to help others! you never know who is on the edge and just need a little bit of support to make it off the ledge or who is feeling like they are the only one suffering. Thanks for listening nad all the support.

Day Three of Four of the IKF Mental Health Awareness Week and today we talk alternatives with a host of another local podcast ICT Connect and photographer RAQs. I know people love their pills and meds when it comes to solving problems but also I recognize that some people don't trust it and would rather explore other options vs long term perscriptions. RAQs is currently in a position where she is attempting to find a solution for her issue without adding more chaos to her madness. We explore the many holistic and physical examples she has attempted in order to reach a place of balance.
ICT Connect is a podcast that she host with musician Kimberly as they bring you the best of Wichita from culture, arts, and lifestyle. THey have on many movers and shakers in the city and host live every Tuesday at 9pm from the R Coffeehouse. A great listen.

It's day two of the Mental Health Awareness week of IKF and we get personal and heavy! I have an amazing filmmaker and an overall sage joining me by the name of Ja'tovia Gary. Ja'tovia is a filmmaker that has explored so many parts of culture as well as challenged the norms of filmmaking itself. She interned for Spike Lee and has a critically acclaimed film Cakes the Rapper that is truly a must watch.
Today is as honest as it is for me to type this. This one has a revelation about my personal life that makes it hard to find a way to write this summary. I have not listened to this episode since recording it as it is way more open than I ever wanted but it was important and the whole reason why I decided to do this whole. Ja'tovia played a very crucial part in this whole moment. I hope that whole ever listens to this and suffers from mental health or knows somebody can understand how hard all of this can be at times. I can not pretend to know the right words ...so listen ...

Day One of Mental Health Awareness Week on IKF is about Detection. I invited Brandi Newry Ed.S.on the show she is Psychologist and Behavior Specialist working inside of public schools to help students and their adjustments as well as helping detect different signs mental disorders. In her work, she works with students up to the age 18 and acts as a conduit to assisting with students and parents.
In this episode, we discuss the difference between normal behavioral issues and when issues turn into something more than behavior problems. We explore how to detect potential symptoms and how schools and parents can work together to address issues earlier. We also discuss the more common mental health disorders and some clear signs of behavior that may need more assessment by a mental health professional such as OCD, ADD, Depression, and more.
