From Explorations in Being Black and Kinky:
I’m Black, male and I’m kinky.
Look at that statement, 6 words. Read it again. The words are simple, yet there is a density to that statement that is seldom explored.
I’ve spent much of my life disconnected from my Blackness. I’ve been learning, exploring, and coming to self- realizations in the past year and a half that I never knew that I needed. And I’m still on the journey.
Some people reading this may have read a post I made nearly a year ago about a poorly named event in my local community. I took a lot of fire for that post, a conglomeration of opinions from friends and associates who were afraid to actually say how they felt about that event’s name. Interestingly, that was before my journey into my Blackness had really begun. I was doing my friends a favor at that time. Why not, I thought. It took me a while to realize something though, the BDSM community is very white. (For more of this writing and part 2, follow the link on the show page, Below.)
