A Sacramento man suspected of beating his ex-girlfriend and two children with a hammer was arrested Saturday morning in Winnemucca after jumping from an Amtrak train on Friday evening. 23-year-old Deandre Chaney Jr. was picked up by Winnemucca Police after a search of the train Friday. Chaney was able to elude police until a trace of his cell phone took police to an indian colony in Winnemucca. It was there Chaney was found wrapped in a tarp inside a shed. He was taken into custody and booked into the Humboldt County jail.

The Pershing County Sheriff's office says a man who broke through security and climbed into the burning man as it burned last night has died. They say 41-year-old Aaron Joel Mitchell was able to break through two lines of security and enter the fire. Black Rock City fire personnel pulled Mitchell from the fire at about 10:20 last night and started emergency medical treatment there before he was airlifted to the burn center at U-C Davis where he was pronounced dead at 6:28 this (Sunday) morning. The sheriff’s office says tests show Mitchell was not intoxicated. Results are still pending for drugs. The investigation into the incident is continuing and trying to determine why Mitchell ran into the fire.

Truckee Meadows Fire says that a fire burned about half an acre in the area of Leon Drive and 2nd Ave in Sun Valley before being knocked down.

Reno Police continue to investigate fatal shooting that happened early Thursday. 26 year old Vidal Smith was found shot to death in an alley at 1st Street between Arlington and West Streets, near Our Bar. Police say Smith had been in an altercation with somebody before the shooting, and while no one is in custody, they believe there is no danger to the public.

Sparks Police Detectives working with the Washoe County Child Advocacy Center have arrested 44 year old Elmer Sanchez-Rodriguez of Sparks. He faces four counts of Sexual Assault and one count of Lewdness with a minor under 14. Sanchez-Rodriguez was booked into the Washoe County Jail.
