A man was struck by a car and received minor injuries while crossing Ralston Street near Third Street on saturday. Two pedestrians were crossing Ralston Street at about 5:20 p.m. They were in a crosswalk but wearing dark clothes. The driver headed north on Ralston Street reported they did not see pedestrians. One of the men managed to get out of the way but the other was hit according to Reno pd. He suffered minor injuries to his knee and was not taken to the hospital. Police have not stated weather the driver will be cited.

The Sparks Fire Department responded to the report of a fire alarm at Sparks High School 9:30 this morning. They said the classroom where the alarm went off was filled with what appeared to be smoke. After additional investigation they found a wall mounted heater unit was putting out a large amount of steam. The heater unit had a ruptured steam line and there was no fire. Officials say school maintenance arrived and helped with shutting down the boiler unit and the power to the classroom. No injuries were reported.
