Hug High School was on a code red lock down following a shooting incident involving a 14-year-old student who was reportedly threatening other students with a knife. A School Police officer ordered the student to drop his weapon, and when he refused, the officer fired at the student to end the threat.

Police were called to Hug High school shortly before 11:30 this morning to reports of shots fire. Reno Police Officer Tim Broadway says investigating officers determined that a school police officer had earlier been called to the scene of a 14-year-old boy with at least one large knife apparently threatening other students. He says the boy refused to follow commands and the officer was forced to shoot to protect other students.

Officer Broadway says the 14-year-old boy is in the hospital in critical condition. His name is not being released since he's a juvenile. Officials with the school say classes will be held as usual tomorrow.

A Carlin officer on a routine traffic stop arrested a Colorado man for transporting four duffle bags full of marijuana. 28 year old Nguyen Tran, of Aurora, Colorado was pulled over at around 8:30 p.m. Friday on I-80 because of a taillight violation. When the officer approached the vehicle he smelled pot smoke, and began a search of the vehicle. Around 70 pounds of marijuana was recovered, and officers also found a meth pipe, and three Hydro Codone pills in Tran's pocket. Tran now faces several charges, with bail set at over $40,000.

Police say they determined that a Washoe County Schools Police officer had shot a 14-year-old boy had been threatening other students with at least one knife. The schools officer reportedly ordered the boy to drop the knife, and, when he failed to do so, the officer fired his pistol striking the boy once. The boy was taken to a local hospital in critical condition Officer Broadway says detectives are trying to determine the boy's motive.
