A fire at the Kirman Court Apartments at 1830 Kirman Avenue has left up to ten people without a place to live. Reno Fire responded quickly and had the fire out shortly after 2 this afternoon, but 2 apartments suffered fire damage and another was damaged by water. No was hurt, and the firefighters were even able to save a puppy. Kirman Avenue was closed between Casazza Drive and Plumb Lane behind Smart & Final and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Northstar is open for the season, and their ski patrol team has two new members this season. Micah and Yuma are six-month-old Golden Retrievers who have just joined the Avalanche Rescue Dogs program. The two puppies jobs will be to sniff out people trapped under the snow in case of an avalanche. Kurt Gale, ski patrol supervisor at Northstar says the dogs go through a lot of training, but for them, it's mostly just a lot of hide-and-seek.

Dandelion Deli & Cafe on Wells Avenue has closed after more than 20 years in business. Anthony DeMasi, owner of the restaurant, announced the closing on Facebook on Thanksgiving Day. A sign affixed to the inside of Dandelion Deli's front door stated Walden's Coffeehouse, a popular Caughlin Ranch spot, would be "opening very soon at this location."
