    Aggressive panhandlers are being targeted by the Reno Police. Chief Jason Soto went over the rules and laws of soliciting with the Reno City Council. Soto reminded residents and the council, soliciting within 20 feet of doorways, near banks and ATM's and on public roadways is illegal. Giving donations to people along roadways is also illegal, except on private property. Councilmember Neoma Jardon says even on private property its a problem.

    The City of Reno has heard the complaints, and the Reno Police Department is doing what it can to curb aggressive panhandling in the downtown area. Police Chief Jason Soto went over the current ordinances, that will be enforced in the city. There are some pretty specific regulations including a ban on soliciting near doorways, public restrooms, near banks or ATMs, blocking traffic, or any abusiveness connected to the activity.
