桜の花の咲く頃、伝通院を小石川に降りたところに住む若い独身者の侍が、夜道を家へと歩いていた。

ふと、桜の木の影に、女の人影を見た。

女は浜松から伯母を頼りに出てきたものの、既に引っ越してしまっており、途方に暮れているという。

When the cherry blossoms were in bloom, a young single samurai who lived just down the street from Dentsuin in Koishikawa was walking home at night.

Suddenly, in the shadow of a cherry tree, he saw the figure of a woman.

The woman had come from Hamamatsu to live with her aunt, but she had already moved away and was at a loss.
