高知県の奥の越智に、樽の滝という大滝がある。

その滝のある山を超えたところに、篠原という農家があった。

篠原の主人は、鉄砲が上手な猟師だった。

ある日、篠原の主人は、樽の滝で大蛇を見つけた。

There is a large waterfall called Tarunotaki in Ochi, deep in Kochi Prefecture.

Just beyond the mountain where the waterfall is located, there was a farmhouse called Shinohara. 

The owner of Shinohara was a hunter who was good with guns.

One day, Shinohara's master found a huge snake at Tarunotaki.
