明治二十二三年頃のこと。

函館の立待岬から、二人の男女が投身した。

男は海産問屋の若旦那で、女は水の米という常磐津の師匠であった。

男の死体は翌日に発見されたが、女の死体は上がらなかった。

女は死なずに、逃げたからであった。

It was around the year 1893.

Two people, a man and a woman, threw themselves into the sea from Tatemachizaki in Hakodate.

The man was a young husband of a marine products wholesaler and the woman was a teacher of the Tokiwazu music called Mizu no Yone.

The man's body was found the next day, but the woman's body did not turn up.

The woman had escaped without dying.
