遠州の御前崎に西林院という寺があった。住職は慈悲深い男であった。

ある風波の激しい日、住職は怒涛の中に、板にしがみついた子猫を見つけた。

住職は猟師に頼み込んで船を出してもらい、子猫を助け、寺で飼うことにした。

There was a temple called Seirin-in in Omaezaki, Enshu. The priest was a benevolent man.

One day when the wind and waves were fierce, the priest found a kitten clinging to a board in the midst of the raging waves.

The priest asked a hunter to send a boat to rescue the kitten and keep it at the temple.
