I've been reading boos from Lillianna for probably a year now. From Single Wide Female, to her Nanny Blue mystery series. Whether its humor or mystery, or a second chance, Lillianna puts her heart & soul I to the books. Each book has a subtle or in your face message. But that message is always that you are as capable and valuable as the characters she creates. This is the second Forty & Free book. The first was as beautiful and tense as this one. Overcoming our fears to find love within is Lillianna's specialty. I highly recommend all her books.

This is by far my favorite book by Lacey.

There isn't one thing I didn't love about this book. This is by far my favorite by Lacey. It will definitely be a constant on my go-to-reread pile.

Paisley suffered so much in her life that my heart broke for her. Everything she did was to please her Mom, a certified shrew of a horrible Mother. Paisley was essentially pushed into show business by her Mom. However, everything she ever wanted, true happiness and love, was finally within her grasp (including the strength to stand up to her Mom) until it was brutally taken away from her. Barrett, aka Bare, works for Paisley's Dad and is with Paisley when she awakens in the hospital. He's the first person she sees and she gets the devastating news about her loss from him.

The story picks up five years later, with Paisley visiting her Dad and seeing Bare. Paisley is just exisiting and Bare has fallen in love with her over the years as they've become close friends. Thankfully, she decides to live again and gives Bare and a HEA a chance. I liked Bare from the beginning and adored his devotion to Paisley. There's one part that I don't want to give away because I don't want to take that dreamy moment away from you, but I will say I completely fell in love with Bare in the scene where he revealed something to Paisley about his life since he met her five years ago. He solidified himself as permanent book boyfriend status at this point. I cheered and eeped in sheer joy. Lacey could've taken that a different route and I love that she chose this one. I will forever be a loyal fan because of this book and that scene. I can't wait to see what's next for the Knight's Watch. I have a feeling this will be one of my favorite series. I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars. I wanted to immediately reread it and nothing else caught my eye or held my attention because of a book hangover from this beautiful story. Read this. You'll love it. I know you'll want to thank me for the recommendation, so keep in mind I'm not big on chocolate or flowers. I do love Amazon gift cards though. ;-)

A Must Read!!!! Loved This Book

Trouble Walks In

The second book in The McGuire Brothers series and I really enjoyed this story. This one is Ronan's story and he and Maddy reconnect after many years. Raised in a close knit family, Ronan knows all about loyalty and traditions. Maddy has been hurt in the past and is a little skeptical about romance so she focuses on her successful career.

This story has it all....romance, family loyalty, traditions, suspense, humor and angst. I love this small town group of people and this family. it had it's share of happiness, tense moments and tears.

Bowser is Ronan's K9 partner and he steals the show and is a true hero! You just can't help but love this big fellow. (hair and all) :)

I love this series and hope to see what happens with the other brothers in the future.

I think I have been waiting for Trouble Walks in since I finished Brave the Heat. Sara Humphreys has a way of capturing the reader, moving them through a mirade of emotions, keeping them on the edge of their seat not only an amazing HEA, but an added bonus of suspense and mystery. This is the story of Ronan and Maddy.

Ronan McGuire is a New York City K-9 officer. With his partner Bowser, they are the best in the search and rescue business. When childhood friend and the girl he has been crushing on since he was in school moves from their sleep little home town to the big city, Ronan makes it his mission to protect her, and if he can get her out of her shell and into his arms even better.

Maddy Morgan lost the love of her love in a tragic accident. Still feeling the sting of his loss, she moves to New York City to get away from the memories, to get away from the looks of pity from friends and loved ones. Wanting to be as far away from home as possible. When Ronan starts making it a habit of dropping in, showing up, giving her a shoulder to cry on and ear to listen, Maddy start to wonder if the grade school crush that she once had on "Make-out McGuire" could blossom into so much more.

A string of murders has Ronan worried about Maddy safety, has him keeping secrets from her for her own protection. When Maddy suddenly disappears, Ronan will have to put the pieces together and find Maddy quickly before she is taken away from him for good.

What I loved most about this book is the humor and the connection that Ronan and Maddy have. They push each others buttons, they flirt, they dance around the attraction that they have for each other. Ronan only wants to see Maddy smile again, a real smile, not the fake one that she put in place for the world to see. I love the conversation between Ronan and his brother, how he is finally able to admit to himself that he love-likes Maddy.

Always a Bridesmaid Book 2

This second book in the series actually happens simultaneously with book one but focuses on the character of Lauren for this book. The tone of this book is much different than book 1 because Lauren is very promiscuous especially in comparison to Erin from the first book. Lauren takes a while to "warm up" to because of her behavior but becomes more likable as the story progresses. I'm glad I didn't give up this one because I enjoyed the ending and absolutely loved the character of Kyle.

Note: FYI: 18+ This book contains sexual situations and adult language.

I'm glad they kept the same narrator as book 1. She has a pleasant tone and gives each character a unique voice.

Sweet sequel

The second Bridesmaid romance was hinted about in the first book but now we hear Lauren's tale. I have to say I didn't enjoy it as much as the first. I couldn't identify with Lauren although I could definitely see Kyle as a handsome wedding photographer. Lauren did have her moments but she was so stubborn and immature at times. The narrator did a fine job even though Kyle's Texan accent sounded like the Georgian accents from the previous book and wait a minute...if Kyle was an army brat he wouldn't have an accent anyway. Well, this is why I gave the story only 3 stars- but still it was an HEA that did have nice elements involving our armed services and that always gets my vote.

Just ok

This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.

The narrator had a great voice and did nice variations on the male voices and nicely with the women. This was probably the best part. The story wasn't bad and was well written, I just never felt invested in the characters.

I found the relationship of all those in the pack uninspiring. I've read different shifter or such books that I thought had better make up within the pack. Yes the alpha ruled and the beta second, but I didn't get the need to constantly punishment/reprimanding do the females...and the females 'needing it' to feel secure. I didn't get that there were loving relationships, just the females must respect all the males...and if the males were punishing the females their show of affection boarded on sex...Just didn't care for it.

Spanking Finactics

I love shifter books and i was hoping this would be another i could add to the series i read. The story was really good and the narration was really great. However, i did not like all the spanking for keeping the women in line. This reminds me of those old I Love Lucy reruns where Ricky would spank Lucy. I am not a fan of this type of punishment for grown women; This took away from the story for me. I could understand respecting the Alpha and the Beta but spanking grown people? Really? I want to like the book but this spanking thing is big hang up for me. I hope maybe in the future books a better reprimand can be given. I received this book free for an honest review.

Enjoyable story with GREAT narration!

The story was enjoyable, nothing deep or exciting , just a decent story lacking a few things for me to be able to say it was a great book. The story jumps right into this world without much building or explaining, I'm guessing there was a story before this one? I love shifter books so I grabbed this as soon as the audiobook was released.

Wow! Reading has always been my escape! My favorite way to visit a different place or time. Amy Lillard has a knack with turning your reading. into travel time and a desire to know the characters better! she has taken my from travel plans to Clover Ridge and Wells Landing now I will add Cattle Creek and a visit to the the Langston's Ranch! I really must meet sensitive Seth, Cowboy Chase, and protector Jake! They are brothers who love each other, cherish the women in their life, Mom, Grandma, beloved passed wife, Jessica and family friend Millie! Seth is strong, sexy, caring and Sheriff. Chase is a cad with a heart too little too late, Jake is the widow with a big heart, great dad, and big brother! Jessica and Seth find each other through a twist of events. Their journey to find how deep their love is takes many roads and you want to drive each one and don't miss a turn. Their love tends to overheat at times, and Amy has a very beautiful way of expressing the Overheating very tastefully so everyone will enjoy reading this "Cowboy" love story! Amy Lillard thank you for sharing your work and allowing me to read an early copy and review this book!

I love this snarky romance so much I had to listen

I have already read this book but it's such a fun story i had to get the audible of it.

I am not normally a romance reader, but who can resist when it claims to be a snarky romance? Well not me. It was just the book I needed. Dee is a sarcastic working class woman who gets dared into a bet to date 26 men in alphabetical order in one year. Sounds silly right? Not when the prize is $50,000. Every woman knows a Dee or has a little of Dee in her. She drinks too much, awkwardly states the truth, and is a fantastic friend. Dee is kind of like Bridget Jones in a good way. She's quirky and sarcastic. She is a fantastic lead character. I love her. The story is told at a great place that keeps you entertained. The narrator is perfect for this book. I highly recommend this snarky romance!

Exciting Read with Fascinating Characters

I finished reading Deception Island yesterday and the characters are still firmly embedded in my head.

I think what I loved best about it was that the main characters were truly flawed (though still sympathetic). So often in romance novels, the characters, and especially the heroine, are portrayed as having explainable, excusable flaws. She spent yeras n prsion--but for a crime she didn't commit. He's done terrible things--but not really. In this book, Holly has just been parolled after six years in prison for pulling off cons with her ex-boyfriend who turned state's evidence and took off with the money. Rafe was once a child soldier, with all the traumatic psychologica damage that implies.

Despite this unusual depth of character, the action is fast-paced. When you think things can't possibly get any worse, they do.

Great action, adventure and romance

This is a totally different take on the "kidnapped heroine" - I really liked the plot of a woman who wasn't a typical victim, but was as strong a woman on her own as she was with the broken hero. Great action, and romance. I will be reading more from this author!

Buckle up for one heck of a ride!

Buckle up for one heck of a ride with debut author, Brynn Kelly's Deception Island. This story had it all. Action, adventure, thrills, twists and turns, a haunted hero and a tough as nails heroine. I loved how this author jumped right into the action and it rarely slowed down. Just long enough at times to have a bit of sexual chemistry between the main characters. The wit and traded barbs between these two was entertaining and hot as anything. The heat between them was electric. Although how she squeezed that into the almost non-stop action and danger, is beyond me. It totally worked though and had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't put this book down. She doesn't pull any punches or water stuff down, though, so if you're squeamish with violence and human atrocities you might want to skip it. For those of stronger stuff, I'd highly recommend.

When Ivy first met Jax, she knew he was everything she wanted but didn't need. She couldn't have been more right. Not Obsessed Just Yet

I am glad it was cheap or I would have requested a refund. The title was deceptive. This was no "50 Shades of Gray". This was a young adult romance that should have been put together as a single novel. Ivy was not a character that I fell in love with. She was not Anastasia Steele. There was no basis for the comparison. The literary world was turned on its ear by the work of Ms James, however, she wrote well, and got paid.

This writer has talent. She needs to focus on character development. Ivy came across as a "dumb blonde" whose cup size matched her IQ. She had a perfectly good father, how did she end up engaged to someone closer to his age?

Jax was no better. Lust does not automatically equal love. This should have been one complete novel. I kept waiting for loose ends to get tied up, and they never did. Liz was a loose end, and the same applied to the other characters who appeared in the first book.

If writers want a loyal fan base, they need to slow down and tell a story that is more than how well they can write sexual encounters. The title did not fulfill my expectations. I am not sure if I will follow this author beyond this series. There is no obsession here, just disappointment.

If I ever thought book one ending was a cliffy, this one takes the cake. Just as I thought too that Jax and Ivy's life was going oh so smooth and calm, Wham! Bam! I got slammed! I scrambled to get the 3rd book, and it's past three in the wee hours but who the hell cares?! There was no way my eyes would shut down for the much needed sleep when my mind was so wide awake with the bombshell that was just dropped at the end, NO Effing Way!!! sleep be damned!!

There are so many things going on, big and small you don't know if you're coming or going. After the taking over part of the business Jax owned and handed over to Ivy as part of the business negotiation, Ivy was ready to take the next step and move in with Jax, only to be blindsided again with the hardest, heartbreaking truth no sane woman would be able to take without losing her mind....aahh! I myself can't help screaming with madness. I gotta go and get the next book or lose my sanity.
