Host T.J. Rives returns with special guests to go over some relevant subjects in the news recently.

Frist up is college basketball hall of fame writer Mike DeCourcy of the Sporting News and the Big Ten TV Network. Mike has tremendous experience on the coverage of college basketball, which is starting this week. He and T.J. also discuss the passing of Indiana hoop legendary but controversial coach Bob Knight last week at 83 years of age. While Knight had massive success leading Indiana to three national titles, he was ultimately ousted for bad behavior and harbored a 20 year grudge towards IU before returning to be recognized 3 years ago. Mike gives his takes on the "closure" and the importance of that and relates a personal story about Knight, too.

Then, we talk some Texas Rangers World Series win/victory parade with Jay Betsill of DFWSportsOnline and WBAP Radio. Jay has more on the parade attendance and how it compares to past Dallas Cowboys (in the 90s) and more recently, Dallas Mavericks title parades. Jay also has the latest on the Dallas Cowboys latest meltdown-this time at Philly and how crazy has the local media been on it?

Chris Collins was on the hot seat. If his team didn’t vastly improve from the year before, he could be out as head basketball coach at Northwestern. Instead, he guided them to their second trip to the NCAA Tournament and was named coach of the year! But Northwestern isn’t Duke where Jon Scheyer is the head coach. Scheyer broke Collins’ scoring record at Glenbrook North High School in suburban Chicago. Then Collins helped coach him at Duke where he was Mike Krzyzewski’s associate. They would win a national title in 2010.

Collins has a challenge this season with six new players but he has four returning from the squad that made the Big Dance last March. One is Boo Buie who averaged 17 points a game. Collins says this team has to be hungry to pursue accomplishments with this team.

In part two of this podcast, Collins also remembers how he was a ball boy for the Chicago Bulls when his father, Doug was coaching them. Collins also enjoys the fact he is the 8th person who attended Northwestern to appear on this podcast.

After finally getting Northwestern into its first NCAA Basketball Tournament, Chris Collins ran into problems. The Wildcats couldn’t produce winning seasons. His job security was tenuous, at best. But last March, Collins’ team not only made the big dance, he was named coach of the year! Collins admits the pressure has been on him since childhood. Remember, his father is Doug Collins, renowned NBA player, coach and broadcaster.

But Chris was up to the task.

He was an outstanding high school player, a pivotal piece during his four years at Duke where he also became associate head coach under the legendary Mike Krzyzewski.

Now in his 12th season at the Evanston, Illinois campus, Collins is hoping to lead a veteran squad to back to back trips to the big dance.

In part one of this compelling podcast, Collins also delves into life as an intensely scrutinized basketball person and his opinions on the player portal and the NIL.

The World Series is here, the NFL is king, still and we've got a LWOS media roundtable on the newest edition of the "Last Word on Sports Media Podcast!"

Ken has thoughts on the team of Kevin Burkhardt of Fox teaming with Greg Olsen, as the lead team on that network, but has strong criticism of the Thursday night Amazon Prime NFL play by play team, as well.

The guys have more on the NBA starting up and the debut of the 7 foot phenom Victor Wembanyama this week against Dallas and more. This includes the ESPN/ABC debuting their new lead announce team of Mike Breen, Doc Rivers and Doris Burke that will work their biggest games coming up this season and the NBA Finals, eventually next June.
