Sahih al-Bukhari – The Book of Tawheed - Lesson 8 (07/01/17)

Chapter: "(He Alone) the All-Knower of the Ghâ'ib (unseen), and He reveals to none His Ghâ'ib (unseen)." (Al-Jinn 72:26) Verily, Allâh! With Him (Alone) is the knowledge of the Hour. (Luqman 31:34) He has sent it down with His Knowledge (An-Nisa 4:166) Nor does a female conceive (within her womb), nor brings forth (young), except by His Knowledge. (Fussilat 41:47) (The learned men) refer to Him (Alone) the knowledge of the Hour. (Fussilat 41:47)

Chapter: Verily, Allâh is the All-Provider, Owner of Power, the Most Strong. (Adh-Dhariyat 51:58)

Today we covered:

The meaning of the Chapter heading:

• What does the name of Allah, “ar-Razzaaq” mean?

• What does “owner of power” mean?

• What does the name of Allah, “al-Mateen” mean?

• Which of the names of Allah is the greatest?

• The verse mentions 3 names & 4 attributes of Allah - what are they?

The hadith: “The Prophet said, "None is more patient than Allah against the harmful and annoying words He hears (from the people): They ascribe children to Him, yet He bestows upon them health and provision”

• Brief overview of each of the narrators of the hadith

• Explanation of “harmful and annoying words”

• Allah has the most perfect attributes and no harm can ever reach him “And let not those grieve you who rush with haste to disbelieve; verily, not the least harm will they do to Allâh.” (Aali Imran 3:176)

The Mushrikoon claim that Allah has offspring, however, in the hadith:

• There is a rejection of this.

• They ascribe deficiency to Allah. Allah is not in need of children.

• Despite this, Allah gives them health and provision – “And if Allâh were to seize mankind for their wrong-doing, He would not leave on it (the earth) a single moving (living) creature” (An-Nahl 16:61)

Some benefits from the hadith:

• Allah gives health

• Allah gives sustenance

• The meaning of “patience” as an attribute of Allah.

• Can we derive a name out of an attribute of Allah?

• What does “hilm” (forbearance) mean?

2. Can you name your children with the names of Allah?

3. Can you have names that are imitated from non-muslims?

4. If you come late and caught 1 rak’ah of mahgrib, should you pray the second rak’ah loud?
