ماء الأَرض
المِيْاه في جَميع الأَنحاء
اُنظُر حَوْلَك.
المِيْاه في كُلِّ مَكان.
تَهبِط المِيْاه مِن السَماء و تَتَدَفَّق بَراً.
إنَّها تَتَدَفَّقُ داخِل الأَرض و تَملَأ مُسَطَّحات الماء.
الماء كَسائِل
مُعظَم كَوْكَبَنا مُغَطّى بِالماء.
المِيْاه في المُحيطات و الأَنهار و البُحَيْرات و البِرَك.
يَهطُل الماء مِن السُحُب عَلى شَكل مَطَر.
كُلُّ هَذِهِ المِيْاه في حالَة سائِلَة.
يُمكِنُ أَن تَتَدَفَّقَ المِيْاه السائِلَة مِن مَكان إلى آخَر.
فَإنَّهُ يَأخُذ شَكل ما هُوَ فيه.
دَرَجَةُ الحَرارَة
يُمكِنُ أَن يَتَغَيَّر الماء مِن حالَةٍ سائِلَة إلى حالات أُخرى.
تَتَغَيَّر المِيْاه مِن حالَة إلى أُخرى بِسَبَب دَرَجَةِ الحَرارَة.
دَرَجَةِ الحَرارَة هِيَ سُخونَة أَوْ بُرودَة الشَيْء.
المِيْاه كَمادَّة صَلبَة
فَكِّر في هُطول المَطَر مِن السَماء.
المَطَر في حالَة سائِلَة.
ماذا يَحدُثُ إذا كانَ الطَقس بارِداً جِدّا؟
هَذا صَحيح - يَتَجَمَّدُ المَطَر!
عِندَما يَتَجَمَّد المَطر، فَإِنَّهُ يَتَغَيَّر مِن حالَةٍ سائِلَة إلى حالَةٍ صَلبَة.
الحالَة الصَلبَة لِلمِيْاه هِيَ الثَلج.
الجَليدُ جامِد، و لَهُ شَكلُهُ الخاص.
الثَلج هُوَ قِطَع صَغيرَة مِن الجَليد.
بَعض الجِبال بِها قِطَع ضَخمَة مِن الجَليد، تُدعى الكُتَل الجَليدِيَّة.
أَسيْاخ الجَليد هِيَ شَكل آخَر مِن أَشكال الجَليد.
ماذا يَحدُثُ لِلجَليد إذا صارَ الجَوْ أَدفَأ؟
يَذوبُ الجَليد و يُصبِح سائِل مَرَّة أُخرى!
المِيِاه كَغاز
ماذا يَحدُث لِلمِيْاه السائِلَة عِندَما تَكون دَرَجَةُ الحَرارَة ساخِنَةً جِدّاً؟
البِرَك تَختَفي عِندَما تَسطَع الشَمس.
أَيْنَ يَذهَب الماء السائِل؟
الطاقَة مِن الشَمس تُسَبِّب الماء أن يُغَيِّرَ حالَتُه.
يَتَغَيَّر الماء مِن حالَة سائِلَة إلى حالَة غازِيَّة.
الماءُ يَتَبَخَّر، أَوْ يَذهَب في الهَوْاء.
الماء في حالَةِ الغاز هُوَ بُخارُ الماء.
بُخار الماء هُوَ قِطَع صَغيرَة مِن الماء في الهَوْاء.
لا يُمكِنُكَ رُؤيَةَ بُخار الماء، و لَكِن يُمكِنُكَ أَن تَشعُرَ بِه.
بُخار الماء يَجعَل الأَيّام الساخِنَة لَزِجَة.
بُخار الماء يُمكِن أَن يَتَغَيَّر عِندَما تَنخَفِض دَرَجُة حَرارَتَه.
يَتَكَثَّف بُخار الماء و يُصبِح ماءاً سائِلاً.
ثُمَّ يُمكِنُكَ أَن تَراهُ مَرَّةً أُخرى!
الماء مِن أَجل الحَيْاة
النبَاتات و الحَيَوْانات تَحتاج الماء.
المِيْاه تُساعِد كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عَلى الأَرض عَلى البَقاء عَلى قَيْد الحَيْاة.

EARTH’S WATER
WATER ALL AROUND
Look around you.
Water is everywhere.
Water falls from the sky and flows overland.
It goes into the ground and fills bodies of water.
WATER AS A LIQUID
Most of our planet is covered with water.
Water is in oceans, rivers, lakes, and ponds.
Water falls from clouds as rain.
All this water is in a liquid state.
Liquid water can flow from one place to another.
It takes the shape of whatever it is in.
TEMPERATURE
Water can change from a liquid state to other states.
Water changes from one state to another because of temperature.
Temperature is how hot or cold something is.
WATER AS A SOLID
Think about rain falling from the sky.
The rain is in a liquid state.
What happens if the weather gets very cold?
That’s right—the rain freezes!
When rain freezes, it changes from a liquid state to a solid state.
The solid state of water is ice.
Ice is hard, and it has its own shape.
Snow is tiny pieces of ice.
Some mountains have huge pieces of ice, called glaciers.
Icicles are another form of ice.
What happens to the ice if the weather gets warm?
The ice melts and becomes a liquid again!
WATER AS A GAS
What happens to liquid water when the temperature is very hot?
Puddles go away after the sun comes out.
Where does the liquid water go?
Energy from the sun causes the water to change state.
The water changes from a liquid state to a gas state.
The water evaporates, or goes into the air.
Water in a gas state is water vapor.
Water vapor is tiny bits of water in the air.
