Paștele este o sărbătoare legală în România, ce respectă calendarul ortodox în ceea ce privește data.

Data Paștelui variază în fiecare an și este, de obicei, diferită între biserica creștină ortodoxă și biserica vestică creștină.

Atât Duminica Paștelui, cât și ziua următoare, sunt sărbători legale, ceea ce înseamnă că multe firme și, de asemenea, bănci și birouri guvernamentale sunt închise.

De Paște, românii cinstesc moartea și învierea lui Iisus, iar aceasta este una dintre sărbătorile capitale ale țării.

În noaptea de dinaintea Paștelui, oamenii merg, de obicei, la biserica de care aparțin și aprind o lumânare.

Apoi, iau lumânarea cu ei, acasă.

Easter Day is a public holiday in Romania that follows the Orthodox calendar for the date.

The date of Easter varies from year to year and is usually different in the Orthodox Christian church than it is in the Western Christian church.

Both Easter Sunday and the following day are public holidays, which means many businesses and also banks and government offices are closed.

On Easter, Romanians honor Jesus' death and resurrection, and thus it is one of the nation's most paramount holidays.

On the night before Easter, people usually go to their church and light a candle.

Then they take the candle back to their homes.

This tradition is about transporting the resurrection light from their church to their homes.

As they make their way back home, they share the candle light with others they see along the way.

Romanians believe that God grants every church a light sourced from Jerusalem's holy fire.

They believe this holy fire is a phenomenon that ignites miraculously every year at the tomb in which Jesus was buried, igniting in an arcane, mystical way with no explanation.

Then a priest offers prayers, causing the holy fire to be distributed to other churches around the globe.

Many people attend special services for Easter at church, and then afterward, they gather at a friend's or family member's home to enjoy a sizeable Easter feast.

In most cases, lamb is served, especially tripe.

Also, most Easter meals include a walnut pound cake.

One very common custom is for Romanians to knock painted Easter eggs together.

It's believed that the people who bump their Easter eggs together will be able to see one another again after they die.
