Bela Lugosi a fost un actor american de origine maghiară. A devenit memorabil, în special, datorită interpretării rolului Dracula, personajul principal din ecranizarea din 1931 a romanului lui Bram Stocker.
De-a lungul carierei sale, a jucat, de asemenea, în multe alte filme de groază.
S-a născut în anul 1882 și a murit în anul 1956.
Lugosi și-a făcut debutul cinematografic în anul 1917, deși jucase anterior în câteva piese de teatru pe scena din țara sa natală, Ungaria.
Și-a părăsit patria după eșecul Revoluției maghiare din 1919.
A jucat în câteva filme germane, înainte de a emigra în Statele Unite, unde a lucrat la început ca marinar pe o navă comercială care traversa Atlanticul.
A jucat pentru prima dată rolul lui Dracula în 1927, într-o piesă de teatru adaptată după romanul „Dracula” scris de Bram Stocker.
Ulterior apariției în piesa de teatru, Lugosi a apărut în filmul clasic „Dracula”, în 1931, după ce un căutător de talente l-a selectat ca actor potențial pentru acest rol.

Bela Lugosi was a Hungarian-American actor who was most memorable for his portrayal of Count Dracula, the lead character in the 1931 film based on Bram Stocker's novel Dracula.
He also acted in many other horror films throughout his career.
He was born in 1882 and died in 1956.
Lugosi's first appearance in a film was in 1917, although he had played some parts on the stage in his native country of Hungary prior to then.
He fled his homeland after the failure of the Hungarian Communist Revolt of 1919.
He had some roles in a number of German films before he emigrated to the United States, working as a sailor on a merchant ship to cross the Atlantic Ocean.
He first played Count Dracula in a 1927 stage play which was an adaptation of Bram Stocker's Dracula.
Subsequent to his appearance in the stage play, he appeared in the classic film Dracula in 1931 after a talent scout pegged him as a prospective character actor.
Because of his Hungarian accent, he was the perfect actor to play Dracula, which was modeled after the sadistic Slavic leader Vlad the Impaler.
However, his accent also placed a limit on his repertoire.
He attempted to elude typecasting but was unsuccessful and thus was confined to the horror genre of films.
Lugosi was often paired with the more popular Boris Karloff, who was frequently the top billed actor over him.
Offers for him to play parts in films started to dwindle later in his career after he developed an addiction to methadone and morphine as a result of sciatica.

Marcel: Mă scuzați, aș putea să vin eu cu un răspuns la această întrebare. Cred că este vorba despre lucrările sale curajoase precum cea privind suicidul în rândul populației religioase.
Profesor Petrescu: Da, cu asta pot fi de acord. Puteți, de asemenea, lega această afirmație cu originea autorului?

Marcel: Excuse me, I could offer an answer to this question. I think it's about his courageous works, such as the ones referring to the large suicide rates among the religious people.
