România sărbătorește Ziua Independenței ei pe data de 10 mai, deși aceasta nu este o sărbătoare legală, ceea ce înseamnă că marea majoritate a oamenilor nu au liber de la serviciu sau de la școală.
Sărbătoarea comemorează ziua în care România a devenit în mod oficial o națiune independentă, în urma Războiului de Independență a României, așa cum este numit în istoriografia română.
În alte referințe, războiul este numit Războiul Ruso-Turc.
România s-a aliat cu Rusia în acest război, iar Rusia a câștigat.
După ce s-a terminat războiul, Marile Puteri și Imperiul Otoman au recunoscut în mod oficial Regatul României ca stat suveran separat.
Implicarea României în Războiul Ruso-Turc a început în aprilie 1877, când România a semnat convenția cu Rusia, fiind de acord ca armata rusă să traverseze România.
Partea de înțelegere a Rusiei a fost aceea că va respecta integritatea României.
Înainte de 1877, Rusia nu a vrut să colaboreze cu România, pentru că ei nu voiau ca România să se angajeze în semnarea acordului de pace de după război.
Totuși, anterior, forțele turcești s-au încleștat cu cele rusești în asediul Plevnei, iar rușii au fost nimiciți acolo, suferind pierderi grele.
În urma acelor bătălii, Rusia l-a rugat pe prințul român Carol I să o ajute.
Prințul Carol I a devenit mareșal al trupelor rusești, condu-și în același timp și propria armată, și împreună, românii și rușiii, i-au putut supune pe turci într-o serie de bătălii.
În ianuarie 1878, rușii au cerut și li s-a acordat un armistițiu.
Eliberarea României a fost declarată oficial în 1878, în Tratatul de la Berlin.

Romania observes its Independence Day on May 10, although it isn't a public holiday, which means most people do not have it off work or school.
The holiday commemorates the day when Romania officially became its own nation following the Romanian War of Independence, as it is referred to in Romanian historiography.
Elsewhere, the war is referred to as the Russo-Turkish War.
Romania sided with Russia in the war, and Russia won.
After the war ended, the Great Powers and the Ottoman Empire officially recognized the Kingdom of Romania as its own separate state.
Romania's involvement in the Russo-Turkish War began in April 1877, when Romania signed a convention with Russia, agreeing to allow the Russian military to traverse Romania.
Russia's side of the pact was that it would respect Romania's coherence.
Prior to 1877, Russia didn't want to work with Romania because they didn't want Romania to engage in signing the peace concord after the war.
However, Turkish forces had previously clashed with the Russians at the Siege of Plevna, and the Russians were routed there, suffering heavy losses.
Following those battles, Russia entreated Romanian Prince Carol I to assist them.
Prince Carol I became the Marshal of the Russian troops in addition to leading his own army as well, and together, the Romanians and the Russians were able to subdue the Turks in a series of battles.
In January 1878, the Russians asked for and were granted an armistice.
Romania's liberation was officially declared in the 1878 Treaty of Berlin.

STELELE
Într-o seară senină poți vedea multe stele.
Stelele sunt corpurile din spațiu care se formează din arderea gazelor.
Stelele pot părea mici din cauză că se află la mare depărtare.
Soarele este o stea.
Este singura stea pe care o putem vedea în timpul zilei.
Unele grupuri de stele au denumiri.
Ele arată ca niște oameni sau ca niște animale.
LUNA
Luna este o minge mare de pietre.
Luna arată ca și cum ar fi cel mai mare corp de pe cerul întunecat.
Pare atât de mare din cauză că este cel mai aproape de Pământ.
Luna nu produce lumină.
Luna pare atât de strălucitoare pentru că soarele o luminează.
Soarele poate lumina doar jumătate de lună o dată.
Cealaltă jumătate a lunii este întunecată.
Luna arată diferit în momente diferite ale lunii.
Luna se rotește în jurul Pământului.
Vedem diverse părți luminoase ale lunii în diferite momente.

PLANETELE
Planetele sunt mari corpuri cerești care se rotesc în jurul unei stele.

Ele sunt: Mercur, Venus, Marte, Jupiter și Saturn.
Soarele luminează doar o jumătate a Pământului odată.
Cealaltă jumătate este întunecată.
Pământul se rotește ca un titirez.
Avem zi și noapte datorită faptului că Pământul se rotește.
Pământul se rotește în jurul soarelui.
Pământul face câte o rotație completă pe an în jurul soarelui.
Pe timpul nopții cerul arată diferit în diferite momente ale anului.
COMETELE ȘI STELELE CĂZĂTOARE
Cometele sunt particule de praf și gheață care se rotesc în jurul soarelui.
Cometele au cozi lungi.
Stelele căzătoare traversează cerul pe timpul nopții.
Stelele căzătoare sunt mici corpuri cerești pietroase care devin incandescente când zboară spre Pământ.

We have day and night because Earth spins.
Earth moves around the sun.
