فیصل مسجد پاکستان کی سب سے بڑی مسجد ہے اور اسلام آباد میں واقع ہے۔

یہ شہر کی سب سے مشہور علامتی نشانیوں میں سے ایک ہے اور ایک بدوی خیمہ کی ہیئت میں ڈیزائن کی گئی ہے۔

فیصل مسجد شہر کے سب سے شمالی حصہ میں واقع ہے اور کوہ مارگلہ کی ترائی میں کوہ ہمالیہ کے سلسلے کی چھوٹی پہاڑیوں میں ایک قابل رشک مقام پر ہے۔

مسجد پورے شہر سے بلندی پر ہے اور مرگلہ پہاڑیاں اس کے پس منظر میں واقع ہیں۔اونچائی اس کی عظمت ظاہر کرتی ہے اور اس کی وجہ سے شہر کے سبھی حصوں میں موجود لوگ دن اور رات کسی بھی وقت اس کو دیکھ سکتے ہیں۔

سعودی فرمانرواں فیصل بن عبد العزیز نے فیصل مسجد کی تعمیر کروائی، اسی وجہ سے ان کے نام سے اسے موسوم کیا گیا ہے۔

اس کی تعمیر کا محرک ایک قومی مسجد تعمیر کرنے کی خواہش تھی اور پاکستانی حکومت نے سترہ مختلف ممالک کے معماروں کی تجاویز قبول کیں اور اس کے بعد ترکی کے ویڈٹ ڈالو کے ڈیزائن کو منتخب کیا۔

معمار کو منفرد اور جدید ڈیزائن کے فن تعمیر کے لئے آغا خان ایوارڈ ملا۔

چوں کہ اس مسجد کا مجموعی ڈھانچہ بدوی خیمہ کی مانند دکھائی دیتا ہے، اس میں محراب اور گنبد نہیں ہیں جو دنیا کی زیادہ تر مساجد میں ہوتے ہیں، اگرچہ اس میں کچھ مینارے ہیں۔

اس کے خیال سے لیکر مکمل عمل 1966 میں شروع ہوا، اگرچہ حقیقت میں اس کی تعمیر شروع ہونے میں دس سال لگ گئے اور اس کی تکمیل میں مذید دس سال لگے۔

بادشاہ عبدالعزیز کو 1975 میں قتل کر دیا گیا، اور مسجد کی تکمیل کے بعد، پاکستانی حکومت نے اس کا نام بدل کر ان کے نام پر رکھنے کا فیصلہ کیا کیونکہ انہوں نے اس میں مالی مدد کی تھی۔

Faisal Mosque is Pakistan's largest mosque and is located in Islamabad.

It's one of the city's most iconic landmarks and was designed in the configuration of a Bedouin tent.

Faisal Mosque is situated at the city's northernmost point and in an enviable place in the Himalayan foothills at the bottom of the Margalla Hills.

The mosque sits elevated above the rest of the city and with the Margalla Hills as a wondrous backdrop.

The elevation bespeaks its significance and enables people in all parts of the city to see it at all times of the day and night.

Saudi King Faisal bin Abdul-Aziz endowed the construction of the Faisal Mosque, which is why it now bears his name.

The impetus for building it was the desire to erect a national mosque, and the Pakistani government accepted proposals from architects from seventeen different countries before selecting Turk Vedat Dalokay's design.

The architect received the Aga Khan Award for Architecture for the unusual and modern design.

As the mosque's overall structure looks like that of a Bedouin tent, it is bereft of the arches and domes that most of the world's other mosques have, although it does feature some minarets.

The entire process, starting with the conception of the idea, started in 1966, although it was a decade later before construction on it actually started and another ten years after that before it was completed.

King Abdul Aziz was assassinated in 1975, and after the mosque was completed, the Pakistani government decided to name it for him because of his support as financier.
