If you don't know much about the Summit Technology Academy and its partnership with the University of Central Missouri and the Missouri Innovation Campus, then listen up. And if you already know about the program, well, listen in any way. Jason and Nick sit down with principal Elaine Metcalf, MIC president Stan Metcalf and student Jatyra Harris to talk about the unique program and its partnerships with Kansas City area businesses. The trio also talks about the program's new 135,000 square-foot home set to open this year. A public grand opening is set for Sept. 5.

As the great recession of the early 2000s was taking hold, the freelance graphic artist found herself losing her largest source of income and wondering what she would to keep providing for her family. The answer, it turned out, was returning to a dream job she thought would never be attainable. Today, Garrett is a master painter, known across the country and even throughout the world. From her home in downtown Lee's Summit, she has found her calling, her niche, and her way to reach across oceans with her art.

Jason and Nick are joined by Kris Presnell and John Hummell, from the Lee's Summit Fire Department and IAFF Local 2195 to talk about the Bryan Pottberg memorial golf tournament and other community charities supported by the group. Music has been at the center of Jenell Johnson's home since before the Lee's Summit North senior was born. But love of music was just a genetic passing to Jenell and her two siblings, Jessica and Justin, it was a purposeful and physical effort made from the very beginning.

No. It's just your weekly community conversation with Lee's Summit Town Hall hosts Jason Norbury and Nick Parker. And if you didn't already guess, this week we're talking about the movie, Grease. Why, you ask, because Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street is kicking off its inaugural summer outdoor movie series with a showing of this classic American musical. Ashley Nowell and Julie Cook join Jason and Nick to chat about the movie, which shows at 9 p.m. Thursday at the City Hall Plaza. Nick tests the guests' knowledge with some Grease trivia questions as they talk about the movie series and other events happening in Lee's Summit.

Jason and Nick take a look at some of the issues before the Lee's Summit City Council, including multi-family housing and City compensation philosophies before sitting down with newly-appointed District 4 Council member Fred DeMoro. DeMoro discusses these issues, as well some offering some insight into what drives him to community service and why others should join in the efforts.

Just two weeks into his tenure as Lee's Summit R-7 Schools Superintendent, Dr. Dennis Carpenter sits down with Jason and Nick for a candid conversation about the district, it's strengths, it's opportunities, and its areas of need. In the interview — the first since his contract officially began on July 1 — Dr. Carpenter offers insight into his efforts to repair and restore public trust, some things that make the district, and the community, an attractive and exciting place to be, and some of his plans for ensuring the needs of all students can be met today as well as in the future.

It’s July 5 and most of our Independence Day celebrations are over, but we wanted to offer a fun and light show this week as we spend some time enjoying friends and family and basking in glow of a national holiday. To keep with the July 4 theme Jason and Nick talk a little colonial era history with Allen and talk about the revolution/or rather evolution of alcoholic drinks in our American society. The hosts are also joined by Nigel Woodbury, a downtown resident and trivia night host at two of the local bars, to talk about the growth and popularity of the craft brew and cocktail scene.

The housing study's here! The housing study's here! Ok, maybe demographic studies about aren't the most exciting thing we could talk about. But the study recently presented to the City of Lee's Summit does offer a picture of the demand for multi-family housing — both market rate and affordable — today and over the next 10 years. Jason and Nick take a look at that picture before Matt Sanning, executive director at Lee's Summit Social Services joins the show to talk about the services his organization continues to provide the community.
