Legendary Creature - Podcast

Some commanders are just too much. Set aside the popularity contest, we're taking on Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow, and talking about what makes this commander so notoriously hated whilst popular. Andy gets into an alternative deck option for a ninja experience through Alora, Merry Thief paired with the background of Agent of the Shadow Thieves. Kyle then shares a top deck experience that doesn't have to be so irritating from the beginning of a game in using Jadzi, Oracle of Arcavios. You know the drill by now. More starter decks! This is a big one. Andy gets into the nitty-gritty of what he's up to with his oft-talked-about favorite: Niv-Mizzet, Parun. Join us, as Andy outlines how he departed from the usual Niv-Mizzet combos and landed on some other compelling and effective plays for Niv-Mizzet. He shares both his ode to the dragon and a starter deck version that can be a softer launch into the beloved spell slinger. It looks like we've got a legit series on our hands. The obsession with starter decks continues as the conversation turns to the blink/flicker theme. Kyle takes a somewhat different route, rather than offering a starter version of a beloved deck, he chats with Andy talks about a theme he has obsessed with for years. They investigate how it has changed in the face of added design and the availability of new blink commanders. He offers up Yorion, Sky Nomad as a launching point for anyone looking to get started with the theme. As always, you can find our deck lists on our Patreon supporter Discord server. We decided to continue trying our hand at starter decks. In this episode, Andy launches us into a new series where we look to create starter versions of decks we are experienced with. That way you don't have to invest in hundreds of dollars worth of cards to try out what we play. Just kick the tires with a starter version and see if you like it. Andy gets us rolling with explaining his journey with Glissa, the Traitor as a commander and outlines his budget-friendly starter version of the deck that you all can take for a spin. It's been a couple of years since we addressed our magical mispronunciations. In that time, you all have cringed numerous times at how we've chosen to pronounce many a made-up Magic character's name. We've brought in the linguists and compiled a list of new legends from the last year that are potential mispronunciation pitfalls. Let's see if we change our minds about how to say the names of any of these characters. It may not get talked about a lot, but there exists a compelling deck theme where you simply have too many of your commander. Copies everywhere!!! Andy and Kyle set up the conversation of what is behind the idea of cloning your own commander, how to see if there is value to be had via this strategy, and how to outline a deck. They share a variety of clone deck ideas that they've been brewing. As always, you can find our deck lists on our Patreon supporter Discord server. As always, we're bringing you reviews written by our listeners and sprinkling in a drop of our own unqualified opinions for what can be done with the new legal commanders from Phyrexia: All Will Be One.
