Les Yeux Orange

LSC005, the new Various Artists release from Le Ski Club, features five unique tracks made by producers exclusively from Geneva, each a heartfelt and authentic expression of their own musical universe.

It’s a pleasure to welcome back Balearic maestro, Afterlife, with his latest edition of robustly modern thinking entitled ‘Metacosm’. Steve Miller’s latest offering touches, teases, and caresses the soul like a long-lost friend recounting glorious, heart-warming stories filled with golden memories.

‘Metacosm’ is an intoxicating fusion of analogue and modular ambience from the master of the genre sounds like one of the most rewarding experiences your senses will enjoy as summer draws to its enviable conclusion. Much like the music transformation and the power of change remain the main ingredients as one season dissolves into the next, notes play like a never-ending series of fully textured conversations between sounds and their consequences, forming as an escape route to elsewhere or through being in tune as part of an ongoing meditative process. The stories expressed here are likewise purely heartfelt and refined with the history of lived-in experiences.

Steve Miller produces music of such a high calibre that this selection compiled from key releases across 2024 readily testifies to the artist's innate understanding of the sound of music and its fully charged potential to effect constructive change. Bathed in relaxed temptation each of the seven numbers occurs brilliantly in its own right from the intensely rich landscapes highlighting the exotic title track ‘Metacosm’, to the Caribbean flavours of ‘Summer of Dub’. From the dreamy bliss of ‘I Saw You Dancing on Mars’ to the ecstasy-filled joy of ‘Baja’. Try the exquisitely breezy electric piano informing ‘Ice Nine’ and the positive punch of ‘Chickens’, not to forget the beautiful sculptures of ‘Tonal’ which redefine Afterlife’s exemplary celebration of freedom of expression as more than a way of life. Completing this masterclass in the serene is also the notion of being defiantly individual while engaging in the art of shared, brilliant artistry.

India-based label and collective, Padmini Records are proud to announce their first offering in the form of ‘Yaar–Dost vol. 01’,

a compilation of some of the country’s finest purveyors of dance music.

‘Yaar–dost’ is an age-old phrase that literally translates to ‘friends, buddies’ (or thereabouts). Padmini is built around this rather simple concept — to create a community that is truly welcoming, a consortium of ideas, and a safe space to share knowledge openly.

An undulating journey through the varied landscape of India’s rave scene, the compilation is designed to be heard as an album. Beginning with the meditative musings of Hiranya, the album turns to the broken beat explorations of Oceantied, 8-Bit Culprit and Mutable Mercury, before finally building up to the hypnotic grooves of Angus 12, OX7GEN & Inspector Maal.

‘Yaar–Dost’ is an invitation to move; to see the world with the clarity that only a 4 am dancefloor epiphany can provide.

Moo Moonster, a Spanish artist with a unique universe, arrives on Mélopée with a captivating new Italocosmic project.

Its 3 original tracks are a daring combination of catchy grooves and immersive melodies, immersing the listener in an electro-futuristic atmosphere.

By playing with rich textures and dynamic rhythms, he creates an avant-garde musical journey.

To collaborate alongsie him, Parissior & Adri Vinchira are perfect.

The talented Endrik Schroeder returns strong to the label with an uncompromising remix of the eponym track.

Back to the 90s raves in London when electronic music was in full swing in the capital’s warehouses !

Pure banger, as always with Endrik !

To close the release, we are happy to welcome Alen Skanner.

He gives his best with a 100% Italo Body Music remix.

For 7 minutes, the track plunges the dancefloor into an intense and deep atmosphere.

With output on Ubiquity, Wonderwheel and Razor-N-Tape, London’s Tigerbalm has truly come into her own production voice recently, bringing forth a colorful vision of tropical influences filtered through modern club sounds. With the Profunda Alma EP, the Tiger focuses her attention on Brazil, coaxing out two gorgeous original songs that pay homage to the sizable impact the country has had on her musical sensibilities. Profunda Alma features the vocalist Joy Tyson (who appeared on Tigerbalm’s earlier Nina EP), and creates an atmosphere of deep emotional mystique through driving percussion, an insistent bassline and dramatic guitar stabs. Vem Cá goes for a more bouncey retro samba vibe and features the incredible vocals of João Selva, who delivers a hook that feels almost canonical, as if we’ve known it forever. Ever consistent French producer Yuksek takes Vem Cá straight to the club with his remix, and London upstarts Make-A-Dance deliver two trippy dancefloor takes on the title track to make this record a powerful 5-tracker!

This release is about the multifaceted nature of jungle music, which is making a comeback, and serves as a tribute to the style. The artist skillfully plays with atmosphere and groove, which has become his signature. The synthesis of modern synthesizers with the rhythms of Soviet melodies creates a familiar atmosphere and a pleasant sense of nostalgia throughout the EP.

This release will appeal both to lovers of the classics and those seeking something new. Whether you're a fan of classic sounds or you're looking for something fresh, this release is definitely for you!

Sungate Records joins friends and family with a V.A in support of the victims of the storms in Valencia.

On October 28th, flash floods decimated the better part of the southern and western areas of the Valencia province, alongside many other points of spain. What followed was a catastrophic event resulting in storm surges, collapsing bridges, thousands stuck on roads and streets, ultimately leading to a death toll that is now estimated over 200, and unfortunately, rising.

Homes, animal shelters, businesses, personal property, and ultimately, families, have been destroyed by this catastrophe. an event that caught thousands out in the street, heading to and from school, work, and daily lives unalerted. severe warnings only got to our phones 10 hours after, despite being warned by weather centers and flood prevention institutions for days.

With Sungate’s staff both residing and having ties to the city, we’ve decided to release “Healing Rays”, a V.A with 22 tracks to gather funds to re-distribute to those most in need, buy essential products and help in the re-construction of a damaged region. We are joining a series of charitable releases from others in the city that has seen a wave of supporting press, and more importantly, an overwhelming amount of support.
