神の国は、帳じりをきちんと合わせようとした王にたとえることができます。(24)清算が始まってまもなく、王から一万タラント（一タラントは六千デナリに相当。一デナリ は当時の一日分の賃金）というばく大な借金をしていた男が引き立てられて来ました。(25)その男は借金を返すことができなかったので、王は、自分や家族、持ち物全部を売り払ってでも返済するように命じました。(26)ところが、男は王の前にひれ伏し、顔を地面にすりつけて、『ああ、王様。お願いです。もう少しだけお待ちください。きっと全額お返しいたしますから』と、必死に願いました。(27)これを見て王はかわいそうになり、借金を全額免除し、釈放してやりました。(28)ところが、赦してもらった男は王のところから帰ると、百デナリ貸してある人の家に出かけました。そして、彼の首根っこをつかまえ、『たった今、借金を返せ』と迫ったのです。(29)相手は、男の前にひれ伏して、『今はかんべんしてください。もう少ししたら、きっとお返ししますから』と、拝まんばかりに頼みました。(30)しかし、男は少しも待ってやろうとはせず、その人を捕らえると、借金を全額返すまで牢にたたき込んでしまいました。(31)このことを知った友人たちが王のところへ行き、事の成り行きを話しました。(32)怒った王は、借金を免除してやった男を呼びつけて、言いました。『この人でなしめ！ おまえがあんなに頼んだからこそ、あれほど多額の借金も全部免除してやったのだ。(33)自分があわれんでもらったように、ほかの人をあわれんでやるべきではなかったのか！』

(32) Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
