So the jailer followed these orders and put Paul and Silas into solitary confinement with their feet in leg irons.

The jailer woke up and saw the prison doors open. Thinking the prisoners had escaped, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself. But Paul shouted as loudly as he could, “Don’t hurt yourself! We’re all here!”

“The jailer asked for torches and rushed into the jail. He was trembling as he knelt in front of Paul and Silas. Then he took Paul and Silas outside and asked, “Sirs, what do I have to do to be saved?”

They answered, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you and your family will be saved.” They spoke the Lord’s word to the jailer and everyone in his home.

At that hour of the night, the jailer washed Paul and Silas’ wounds. The jailer and his entire family were baptized immediately. He took Paul and Silas upstairs into his home and gave them something to eat. He and his family were thrilled to be believers in God.”

In the morning the Roman officials sent guards who told the jailer, “You can release those men now.”

The jailer reported this order to Paul by saying, “The officials have sent word to release you. So you can leave peacefully now.”

This is why God has given him an exceptional honor — the name honored above all other names —”

The Boy with a Bento 弁当を持った少年

(John 6:1-9) Some time after this, Jesus crossed to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias), (2) and a great crowd of people followed him because they saw the signs he had performed by healing the sick. (3) Then Jesus went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples. (4) The Jewish Passover Festival was near. (5) When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” (6) He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. (7) Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” (8)Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, (9) “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”

1. The boy 少年

- Not older than 12 years old.

１２歳くらい。

- Some basic education - able to read some Bible. Heard the stories of coming Messiah.

一般的な教育 – 聖書も読めた。メシヤがくるのも聞いたことがある。

- Would soon leave school and follow his father's trade.

そろそろ卒業してお父さんの仕事に就く予定。

- Had a loving mum who made a simple bento.

お弁当を作ってくれる素晴らしいお母さんがいた。

2. His attitude of generosity

寛大となる態度

(Matthew 18:1-4 AMP) At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” (2) He called a little child and set him before them, (3) and said, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless you repent [that is, change your inner self—your old way of thinking, live changed lives] and become like children [trusting, humble, and forgiving], you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. (4)Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

3. The miracle of supply and abundance

備えられ、もっと溢れ出る奇跡

(John 6:10-14) Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). (11) Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. (12) When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” (13) So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten. (14) After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”

1.ペテロとヨハネと男は、生まれつき足が悪い男を癒した

1. Peter and John healed a guy crippled from birth

(使徒3:1-10)ペテロとヨハネは午後三時の祈りの時間に宮に上って行った。(2)すると、生まれつき足のきかない男が運 ばれて来た。この男は、宮にはいる人たちから施しを求めるために、毎日「美しの門」という名の宮の門に置いても らっていた。(3)彼は、ペテロとヨハネが宮にはいろうとするのを見て、施しを求めた。(4)ペテロは、ヨハネとともに、 その男を見つめて、「私たちを見なさい。」と言った。(5)男は何かもらえると思って、ふたりに目を注いだ。(6)する と、ペテロは、「金銀は私にはない。しかし、私にあるものを上げよう。ナザレのイエス・キリストの名によって、歩 きなさい。」と言って、(7)彼の右手を取って立たせた。するとたちまち、彼の足とくるぶしが強くなり、(8)おどり上 がってまっすぐに立ち、歩きだした。そして歩いたり、はねたりしながら、神を賛美しつつ、ふたりといっしょに宮に はいって行った。(9)人々はみな、彼が歩きながら、神を賛美しているのを見た。(10)そして、これが、施しを求めるた めに宮の「美しの門」にすわっていた男だとわかると、この人の身に起こったことに驚き、あきれた。

(Acts 3:1-10) One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. (マタイ14：26－31 ALIVE訳)「お、おい・・・」「ん？」「ヒ、ヒィ！！！」目ん玉が飛び出るほど驚いたイエスの一味は湖の上に幽霊がいるのだと思った。(27)「おいおい、恐がるな！俺だよ、俺！」イエスが仲間たちに声を掛けた。(28)「せ、先生！もし本当にそうなら、お、俺に“水の上を歩いてここまで来い”と言ってくれえ！！！」そう言ったのは岩のペテロ。(29)「来い！ペテロ！！！」それを聞くと、船べりから一歩を踏み出し、水の上を歩いてイエスのもとへ向かった。(30)（イエス・・・ん？）「！」 水面を歩く岩のペテロは押し寄せる波と吹き荒れる風に目を向けてしまった。その途端・・・心によぎる、不安。水に沈むんじゃないかという疑いに襲われた。「先生！た、たすけてぇ」(31) 叫ぶペテロを掴むと、「なぜ疑った？まだ信頼できないのか？」

２つの舟 – イエスはあなたの仕事場も使いた

(Luke 5:1-11) One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God. (2) He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. (3) He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat. (4) When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” (5) Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” (6) When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. (7) So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. (8) When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” (9) For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, (10) and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.” (11) So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.
