This Sunday, the Church calendar begins anew with the first Sunday in Advent. During the season, we are called by the Church to remember that Christ came into the world at his birth, and that we are to anticipate that he will come again at his return. In both instances, Jesus comes as a light shining into a world that has been darkened by sin and death. Advent is, therefore, a word of hope that Jesus has come and is always coming into the darkness to make a way forward.
Listen to our latest podcast as Associate Lead Pastor Ashley Mathews shares about the beauty and darkness of Advent and how to meaningfully prepare to celebrate Christmas.
