In this episode of the Running 44@60 podcast I’m sharing my experience of running the first ever Lighthouse Marathon.
Pendeen to Godrevy on the North Cornwall Coast with a bit on at the start and finish to make it the full marathon distance.
For me it was an ARC 50 test. With 3 months to go where am I fitness wise was the key question to be answered.
Sadly a recent achilles injury I had recovered from re-occured when I slipped / stumbled at 7 miles.
I hobbled on to the 14 mile aid station at St Ives where I had already decided enough was enough. My first ever DNF (Did Not Finish)
It also means my Arc adventure for January 2024 is over. I’ve deferred to January 2025.
I mention the Ford Sen Mighal - its a great Bys Vyken event on December 2nd - North Cornwall Coast (Lelant) to South Cornwall Coast (Marazion)
This is episode 130 of the Running 44@60 podcast. You can access and download the previous 128 episodes via your usual podcast app or on the Running 44@60 podcast page.
Host Trevor Lee ran his own first ultra in 2021 - the 44 mile Classic Quarter - hence 44@60. Trevor has written a book about his buildup and adventure – it is both a business and running book and is available on Amazon via this link: 12 Business Lessons from Running an Ultra Marathon. Each sale generates £5 for Childrens Hospice South West.
Trevor's big running goal is now the Arc of Attrition 50 in January 2025.
