Summer Encore episode! There’s a common bit of sports psychology that tells athletes to visualize themselves making a goal before they take a shot. On this episode I recall learning this lesson on my childhood basketball team, then explain how this advice is similar to saying affirmations.

Please send us a voice memo, drawing, or letter at [email protected]. We play a voice memo from a listener at the beginning of most episodes. If your child wants to be included, record a voice memo on your phone and email it to us. Your child can introduce themself and then say a favorite affirmation, sing a line from a Like You song, say what they like about the show, or share whatever they feel! Keep it short (10-20 seconds), send it to our email, and then wait patiently. It is our goal to share every recording eventually!

I hope you'll enjoy this special guest episode from our friends at Storypillar. Storypillar is a podcast for kids and their grownups that tackles the sticky situations kids face while growing up. It features a story-loving caterpillar named Sneak, Sneak’s older sister, a butterfly named Bean, and Meg, a human person who writes and produces the podcast. This guest mini-episode features Bean the butterfly doing a mindful check-in, which she calls a Bean-o-meter check. We all know that mindfulness is about slowing down and paying attention to the things that are happening inside you and around you. So I thought it would be fun for you to hear how Bean checks in with her own feelings. Bean will also say a few affirmations, which listeners of Like You are very familiar with.

For Valentine’s Day, I decided to share an encore of one of my favorite episodes. This episode features a mindful way to say “I love you” by sending loving-kindness wishes. Some of you grownups might be familiar with a mindfulness practice known as a loving-kindness meditation. This is kind of like that, except we get to make wishes!
