Directions
Combine all ingredients in an ice-filled shaker.

Shake until well chilled, about 10 seconds.

Directions
In a large cocktail glass filled with ice, add vodka, club soda, and grapefruit juice.

Stir gently to combine and garnish with fresh grapefruit slices and lime.

The Old Brando Fashion
Ingredients
Whiskey (try Mellencamp Whiskey if you can)

Raw Sugar

Orange Oil

Smoked Cocoa
Directions
So I don't have the directions for this cocktail since it was one of the cocktails at the finale party in Nashville, but maybe with some trial and error you can figure it out. Below is a recipe for an old fashion just in case.
Combine simple syrup, bitters, and whiskey in an Old Fashioned glass. Stir well.

Add 1 to 2 large ice cubes and stir a few more times to chill.

Garnish with an orange peel and cherry.

Manhattan
Ingredients
2 ½ ounces bourbon whiskey

1 ounce sweet vermouth

2 to 3 dashes aromatic bitters, we use Angostura

Maraschino cherry, for garnish

Orange peel, for garnish
Directions
Fill a martini glass to the brim with ice so it chills while you make the Manhattan.

Add bourbon, sweet vermouth, and bitters to a shaker or glass with a few ice cubes, and then stir or gently shake. Do not overdo it; you do not want the ice to water down the drink.

Discard ice from the martini glass, strain the Manhattan into the chilled glass, and garnish with cherry and orange peel.

So I was given the privilege of a press for Hollyshorts Film Festival again this year and got to watch so many amazing short films, plus I got to do some great interviews with those behind the films.

"Bill" is a darkly comedic short film that explores themes of power, control, and societal expectations. The story follows a woman who, after years of enduring her sexist husband, takes matters into her own hands by murdering him and turning his corpse into a puppet of the perfect husband. This bold narrative challenges viewers to think critically about gender dynamics in a uniquely humorous and horrifying way.

Be sure to be on the lookout for when you can check out this fun dark comedy.

"Bill" Cocktail:
Bloody Mary
Ingredients
Celery salt

1 Lemon wedge

1 Lime wedge

2 oz of Vodka

4 oz of Tomato juice

2 Tsp. prepared Horseradish

2 dashes Tobasco sauce

2 dashes Worcestershire sauce

1 pinch of Ground black pepper

1 pinch of Smoked paprika

Garnish: parsley sprig

Garnish: 2 Green olives

Garnish: Lime wedge

Garnish: Celery stalk (optional)
Directions
Pour some celery salt onto a small plate.

Rub the juicy side of the lemon or lime wedge along the lip of a pint glass.

Roll the outer edge of the glass in celery salt until fully coated, then fill the glass with ice and set aside.

Squeeze the lemon and lime wedges into a shaker and drop them in.

Add the vodka, tomato juice, horseradish, Tabasco, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, smoked paprika, plus a pinch of celery salt along with ice and shake gently.

Strain into the prepared glass.

Garnish with parsley sprig, 2 speared green olives, a lime wedge and a celery stalk (optional).

I had a lot going on this summer, but I was able to record with 2 other ATX TV Members about this year's festival. It was great as always, but I will say that seeing everyone was what made it amazing. I think we all needed those nights on the Stephen F. Austin Bar balcony spending time together discussing the day, tv, and life. Hope you enjoy this recap, look into going next year, it's so much fun. Resident Apple (vegoutrecipes.com):
Ingredients
1.5 ounces (1 shot) whiskey

8 ounces (1 cup) apple cider

1 cinnamon stick
Directions
Pour a shot of whiskey into a cocktail glass.

Add the cup of apple cider.

Stir the whiskey and apple cider together using the cinnamon stick. Some of the cinnamon will break off to give your cocktail an extra burst of fall flavor.

Leave the stick in the drink so it continues to infuse your beverage with cinnamon as you sip.

I hope you are all watching Claim to Fame, if not you need to be (Wednesday nights on ABC at 8pm central, streaming on Hulu). If you are watching you will know my next guest, Danny, aka Nael Zayas. Danny is a very kind and funny guy, who played a great game this season. Side note, he needs to apply for The Traitors, I think he would do very well. We were actually chatting before the interview was scheduled, found out he did his research and is a whiskey and Coke kind of guy and was excited to see what cocktail I chose for his episode. I wanted something with whiskey, but also a bit of spice for his Claim to Fame, the Salsa King himself, Marc Anthony. Hope you all enjoy the interview as much as I did.

Blood Orange Jalapeño Whiskey Cocktail
(rackhousewhickeyclub.com):
Ingredients
2 oz. whiskey or bourbon

2 oz. blood orange juice or fresh citrus juice of your choice

½-1 oz. agave syrup (to taste)

1 jalapeño, sliced

4 oz. IPA beer
Directions
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.

Add juice, whiskey, agave syrup, and jalapeño, and shake well.

Strain cocktail into an ice-filled glass, add beer, and stir.

You might know Zach Kornfeld from creating and starring in The Try Guys, he is also a best selling author, a podcast host, and more. This is a very powerful short film that takes a comedic look at a very heavy and very real topic. I look forward to seeing what else he directs, writes, and stars in.
Director's Statement: The things you love are more important than the things that hurt you. So often for people living with disabilities, or any sort of chronic condition, we end up defining ourselves by what ails us instead of by what we love. With that in mind, I set out to make a short that helped audiences understand invisible illnesses -- something that is inherently unknowable -- by filtering my disability through the lens of magical realism, homages, and my favorite genre tropes. To take control of the thing that causes me pain every single day through the aesthetic of the things that give me comfort and joy. The result is Ouch!, a film I hope is as fun as it is cathartic.

Please please please watch Claim to Fame if you aren't already, it's such a great show. Franklin Jonas calls it "the nepo baby olympics". I have been a fan since I first heard the concept and was ready with my tv tuned into ABC for the pilot episode. I have interviewed players from season one and from season two, and now season three. Everyone has been so nice to talk to and the interviews are honestly some of my favorite that I have recorded.

Have Mercy Cocktail (www.drinkmagazine.asia):
Ingredients
35ml Aviation gin

7.5ml Atlantico Platino rum

7.5ml Dumante Verdenoce pistachio liqueur

7.5ml Ouzo

7.5ml Honey syrup

30ml Greek yoghurt

1 egg white
Directions
Shake without ice to emulsify, then add ice, shake and strain into collins glass.

Let sit for 60 seconds, then gently add club soda to create the characteristic Ramos-style foamy head.

Grate a toasted pistachio over the top.

The Kingsman franchise is one of my favorites and not sure why it took so long for me to cover it on the podcast. It is currently streaming (according to IMDb.com) on abc.com, Apple TV+, fxnetworks.com, and MGM+. The first film in the franchise is The Secret Service and is about a spy organization that recruits a promising street kid into the agency's training program, while a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius. It stars Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, Taron Egerton, Michael Caine, and more. It's kind of like a fast paced, edge of your seat, James Bond film.
This was fun to record and I went head to head this time. Hope you enjoy this episode and all the fun sound bytes that came from it.

The Kingsman Martini:
Ingredients
Dry Vermouth

London No. 3 Gin

Lemon Peel
Directions
Pour a bar spoon of dry vermouth in the mixing glass.

Pour a generous amount of good dry gin.

Add ice to the mixing glass.

Stir well for 10 seconds.

Strain into a chilled martini glass.

Garnish with discarded lemon peel.
