Long-time Chicago marathoners Randy Burt and Henry Kozlowski joins Lisa Dent to discuss how they both ran every single Chicago Marathon and are getting ready for their 48th race this Sunday. They discuss the different challenges they’ve experienced over the almost half a decade of marathon running, including Henry “squeezing into” the Lane Tech shorts he wears every run. While they are motivated by the idea of completing the Marathon 50 times, both of them are excited for the steps they’ll take afterwards.

Joabe Barbosa, the Roosevelt University doctoral student who ran down every street in Chicago, joins Lisa Dent to discuss his preparation for this weekend’s Chicago Marathon. He is challenging himself to meet one person from every state during the marathon as well as challenging himself to finish dead last just so he can chat with other runners and encourage them to finish.

David Hochberg, Vice President of Lending for Team Hochberg at Atlantic Coast Mortgage and host of Home Sweet Home Chicago on WGN Radio, joins the Lisa Dent Show to discuss how even people who are making $300,000 a year are still living paycheck to paycheck and how businesses are being reimbursed for the tariffs, even when consumers are the ones footing the bill. Later, David answers listeners’ questions.

30-time marathoner and three-time Ironman triathlete, Rick Barrett joins Lisa Dent to talk about how he and four other friends are getting ready for their final Chicago Marathon after decades of running and 170 completed marathons split amongst the five of them. Barrett, now 73-years-old, shares the memories of his participation in the very first Chicago Marathon when he was 24. Later, he provides advice how new runners should prepare for a marathon as well as spotlight the two charities he and his friends will be running for, Special Children’s Charity and Opportunity Knocks.

Pat Brady, SVP of Mercury Public Affairs, former chairman for the Illinois Republican Party, joins Lisa Dent to address the controversies and investigations regarding the Chicago Board of Education elections. While being known primarily for the Wiener’s Circle, Lisa and Matt both highlight his thirteen years as Commissioner and CEO of the Chicago Housing Authority and his fight for affordable housing.

Ralph Carmona, a 75-year-old Portland resident, joins Lisa Dent to highlight his participation in the Chicago Marathon happening Sunday, October 11th to help raise awareness for Alzheimer’s disease which he was diagnosed with in 2015. In addition to the Chicago Marathon, Ralph ran in the Boston Marathon, and plans on to run in the other four Abbott World Marathon Majors. He highlights his son’s completion of the Boston Marathon in 2015 as his inspiration to start his project.

Chief meteorologist at WGN-TV Demetrius Ivory and WGN-TV weather producer Bill Snyder join Lisa Dent to talk about the weather. Together, our Forecasters address the clear and gorgeous weather this week and the remnants of a tropical storm that we might see on Sunday. Later, they discuss how A.I. can be used to help meteorologists forecast the weather and share their beliefs on whether if it’s reliable in that regard.
