Barron Strikes Again.. with Deadly Force!
Like I just said, Laird Barron strikes again! This time turning his dark attentions to the yakuza, and in doing so adding a wide, carnivorous wrinkle to the crime thriller genre. The Nanashi books promise to be chock-full of the great Barron STUFF -- wild, tempestuous violence, universe-ripping, split-open-the-skies horror, and an off-balance, supernatural slant that will keep your shivering, sniveling brain shoveling ether while dodging cosmic bullets.
An added bonus is the exceptional story of a mad scientist and his prehistoric apprentice. So yeah, there's that.
This series will prove to be yet another chapter in the very young career of Barron, who continues to increase expectations and build upon his own legend as our generation's master of the macabre.
An absolute must-have for readers of crime, noir, horror, weird, sci-fi and... well, you get the picture.

"Man with No Name" subtly carries on with the Laid Barron universe of Old Leech. The bonus short story at the end of the novella is fantastic, as well. Highly recommend for Barron fans
Barron is the man
Laird is always sharp. I wish the Nanashi portion was longer, but who am I to argue with greatness? The bonus story was fun, too.

Laird Barron has yet to write a book I don't like, I love that his last two books (this and X's for Eyes) took on new directions. One of the things thats always fascinated me with Barron's work is he can transpose horror to many settings. The "main" section of this book being based around a Japanese Gang. I dont want to give anything away..you can read the description of the book and read the book itself to get all the fine details..BUT..once again Laird Barron impressed me and made me feel the cosmic dread his books always invoke.
Another winner from Laird Barron
Another fine entry in Laird Barron's list of off- beat, weird fiction! Full of the two- fisted, double- barreled action I've come to expect along with that skewed vision of the tenuous "reality" we so precariously tread, just over the abyss of the unknown, the unspeakable and the monstrous! Whether you're a fan of LB's work already or just becoming acquainted, highly recommended!
