    Title: Driver 5
    Author: Ray W. Clark
    Narrator: Larry Lang
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 2 hrs and 18 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 03-04-16
    Publisher: Driver5books
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 2 votes
    Genres: Fiction, Horror
    Publisher's Summary:
Sucked into another dimension by a Shelby GT 500 KR, Driver 5 finds himself in the middle of a cornfield that should have been a city. A black-clad girl is running for her life from a nightmare on foot. There's thousands of zombies. She directs him to the base, the underground complex housing thousands of people. It's there that he finds himself the only hope of not only these people but the entire world.
At the end of World War II, Hitler pulled off a sneak attack that we didn't see coming. Thousands of A-bombs fell across the West, causing everything west of the Mississippi River to fall into the ocean. Japan was swallowed into the sea, as was most of China. But that wasn't the worst of the Nazi treachery. They released a chemical agent that turned the rest of the population of the United States into zombielike creatures. Unlike the zombies in the movies, they do not kill for food - they just kill.
In the base, they fit Driver 5 with a suit that employs nanotechnology, making his synapses and muscles fire at a superhuman rate. It's also hardwired to his brain. The car is upgraded and responds only to his suit. Navigation and ammo specially made to kill only dead flesh are uploaded to the computers and the ammo pack on the suit back, respectively. They give him the tools, a nanotech enhanced suit, and slight modifications to his car to drive from Indianapolis to Detroit. He doesn't have a chance in hell.
The girl becomes his navigator and will call him only Driver 5 because of the short life spans of the drivers. They had a machine that went into other dimensions to recruit drivers, and only one has even come close. And he is someone they do not want to see up close. Half human, half demon, he hunts drivers to protect his master, Hitler, in Briggs (Tigers) stadium in Detroit.
Ride with Driver 5 as he battles his way through zombies and meets new friends along the way to the ultimate goal.

    Zombies, demon Hitler, and nanotech!
The man who will be known as Driver 5 for the entire book is offered a sweet fast car by an odd old man. He jumps at the chance and takes it for joy ride but soon finds himself in the midst of a zombie-filled land. Luckily, he runs into Leah pretty quickly and she gives him the basics and directs him to a safe place. This underground complex houses most of the remaining humans in the area and they have been fighting an ongoing mission to take out a half-demon half-human Hitler who has set up base in Detroit. Yeah, I know. This isnt a deep work but it a lot of fun. Just sit back and enjoy the ride!
Right off the bat, Im going to tell you my pet peeve with this story and then we can get to all the good fun stuff. First, there is only one female character, Leah, and she is a woman, not a girl. Additionally, 5ft 9in is NOT short. Just setting the record straight there Driver 5!
So Driver 5 has been sucked in to this alternate timeline where Hitler did a sneaky and deadly attack at the end of WWII which sunk much of the western USA and Japan and part of China, and created these zombies. He then dabbled in some occult stuff, became part demon, and moved his center of operations to Detroit.

The only stable force in Simon's life is Bobby, his 12-year-old brother who loves Simon dearly and will protect him at any cost.
Bobby has had his own issues with anger and violent outbursts, yet he has all the patience in the world for Simon. This dynamic has created a "her vs. us" situation with their mother who each day despises her own children even more. As she slowly loses her mind, taking out her rage and frustration on the boys, Bobby will go to any length to protect Simon from the one who should care for him the most.
The brothers thought horror was the monsters you see in books or movies. They are about to learn that true horror lives with us every day.

    I loved every heartbreaking word!!!!
I met Tim through a mutual friend on FB and he just seems like the nicest guy in the world! Then I decided to read some of his work and this is what I picked as my first foray into his twisted mind. First I must say it is amazingly well-written and Tim has a superb knack of working his characters so you feel everything they feel. Secondly I am still a complete emotional mess from reading this book! I've never been so disturbed by anything and what Nadine puts her children through, especially poor Simon, left me utterly speechless. And I'm not ashamed to admit it brought me to tears. As a parent myself I believe we all have certain moments where our kids push us to our limits but I could NEVER imagine doing anything like that to my child. It was so hard to read at some points I had to just stop for a few minutes and catch my breath.
Tim has crafted a superb tale of a mom pushed over the edge and who comes completely unhinged by her daily life with her kids, one who is autistic and one with violent outbursts.
I highly recommend it but read at your own risk...you'll never be the same once you finish it.
... 5 stars because it is child abuse at it's worst, but it made me gasp in horror
I feel strange giving this book 5 stars because it is child abuse at it's worst, but it made me gasp in horror, it made me cry, and I could not put it down until I was done!! Which meant I finally got to bed at 4am and even after I shut off the light I thought about what I had read and I hoped I wouldn't have nightmares!! This book hit home for me which totally unnerved me, but being an adult and not a victim anymore made me appreciate the dark place Tim had to go to write this book. I wanted to put it down and walk away for a little while, but something in me wouldn't let me!! So yes I recommend this book because I absolutely LOVE Tim Miller's books (I've read a lot of them!!) but if child abuse is your hard limit I suggest you buy one of Tim's other books, which are crazy and horrifying, but in a fun way!!
    Marianne
Another great page turner from Tim Miller!!! In this book, Miller leaves the format of splatterpunk and extreme horror. This is a story of special needs children, parental breakdown. Miller still goes to the extreme as usual, we see a mother who has been pushed to the edge raising her autistic younger son, and difficult older boy.

    Great listen.
I love this team, and i have personal favorites from their collection. This was okay, but it didn't live up to the standards I was expecting. The performance was fine, but the story isn't exactly my cup of tea. Larry Fessenden is awesome, but this is "okay" compared to his other work.

    Not quite what I expected...
In general it was a well preformed piece, well done voice acting, and I could hear the emotions they were trying to convey. What I did not expect however, was the additional character of Eve, who made things slightly awkward, and I find that to be putting it lightly, seeing as how, thanks to her inclusion, I ended up listening to an S&M scene. Ya, that was an experience that I'd rather not have again.
    Other then that, pretty good.
Fun production, not the best story
What did you love best about Tales from Beyond the Pale: H. P. Lovecraft's The Hound?
The performance was a blast! Obviously most people that buy this will do so for the quasi reunion of Dennis Paoli, Stuart Gordon, Barbara Crampton and (possibly) Ezra Godden. The characters and gratuitous kink feels right at home with the 80's classics, The Reanimator, From Beyond and the later Dagon.,
What was most disappointing about Dennis Paoli and Stuart Gordon s story?
The story selection, obviously they did the best they could but this has never been a favorite Lovecraft story and this production didn't change my mind although I was quite open to it.
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Everything. This is much more an audioplay, than a narration. And what sells the download for me was entirely the narrators/actors.
If you could rename Tales from Beyond the Pale: H. P. Lovecraft's The Hound, what would you call it?
Well that's the best title really, but if I had written the story idk the kinky tomb raiders get their comeuppance? Story titles shouldn't be put in my hands really...
    Any additional comments?
It's really short so I'm not sure it's worth a credit, but for the two bucks or so that is the member prize it feel it's worth the prize, fairly fun for the performance even if the story itself wasn't great.
    not feeling this one
a fan of h.p. lovecrafts but not this story! the only thing good about this one was the acting.

    Publisher's Summary:
These are the journeys of Miel, the keeper of the journal.
The workings of heaven are shrouded in mystery and myth, leaving us to only theorize as to what awaits us when we pass. There are those among us, however, that are special cases. These are good people who have committed a horrendous crime, such as murder. What makes their cases special, however, is the fact that by committing these egregious acts, one could argue that they have made the world a better place.
A heavenly court of archangels is forced to consider these special cases, holding in their collective hands the fate of the souls that come before them, but only one among them, Rashnu, recognizes that these souls cannot be judged on just the outward details.
Miel, the lowly angel assisting him is tasked with traveling the world to gather the real facts, facts that will hopefully lead to their salvation.
The Miel Chronicles is a collaborative effort created by J.T. Lewis to work with other authors on a special project. Elijah, co-authored with Alexia Purdy, is the second of these stories and can be heard on its own.

    Reign of Blood
    Any additional comments?
This short story gives an interesting look into the Reign of Blood universe through the eyes of an angel. The narrator does a wonderful job.
    Short but, not lacking
What made the experience of listening to Elijah: The Miel Chronicles the most enjoyable?
The narrator for this series is simply amazing. I love her inflection and the life she brings to each story. This one was no different.
What other book might you compare Elijah: The Miel Chronicles to and why?
This is a short story that ties in with the rest of the Reign of Blood series by Alexia Purdy.
    Which scene was your favorite?
The scene that stands out the most is when Elijah's boss finds him and brings him to the underground city of Vida.
    Any additional comments?
While this story is certainly short, it's not lacking. It's a bit different from the others in the series but, not in a bad way. I loved the deeper look into Elijah when the epidemic first hits.

    This was a re-read,, I'm glad I did.
Strangely I can not find book 2. Thus book does not come up.
    Dr. A
Not great but enjoyable for the reduced price I paid
Story was pretty good but narration was horrible to the point of distraction. I moved speed up to 1.25 to change her voice it was so bad.
    Pass on to another book
The story may have had some hope, then the narrator stepped in and crushed it. The tone never changes and there's no end at the end of the story.
    Fast paced.
A good fast paced book. It kept my interest. The author was sure to be accurate with military lingo and tech specs
    A fun adventure
This one was a little slow at first for me, but I did get into it. I would recommend it to others.

listening to this book was surreal and unsettling
This is a tale about Tizzy Polk and Matthew RebelYell Birdnell, both in their early teens. Both have their own crosses to bear both want out of their current situations but can only find peace and freedom in their dreams at night when all is quiet and calm for Izzy there are no yelling alcoholic preacher daddys or any dead end pig farming futures for Matthew in their nightly dreams. Matthew decides one day to remedy the situation. Matthew and Tizzy go on a stealing spree that leaves one little old lady dead in their wake. They have now crossed over the line from which they cannot return like Bonnie & Clyde.
Scurrying past the police, these two kids take to Riddle Top Ridge seeking a safe place to hide out. There they find more than they bargained.
This is my first Randy Thornhorn book but it is not my last! While I do not enjoy audiobooks that contain sound effects, the ones included in this rendition are very appropriate and important to the story. The dialect used in this story is very accurate and his ability to slide from one character to another is amazing. Thornhorn narrates his own novel and it is a move that I found very entertaining and riveting.
His use of vivid descriptions and details connects the reader to the characters completely. They are haunted; they just dont know it yet. Thornhorns drawl is perfect and hes mastered the ability to write the dialect, speak it and I would assume even dream in it. For those that are old enough, the references to different sayings and actions are spot on; for those too young, Thornhorn is presenting you with something that was one a very real part of life. Here in Thornhorns tale, Old Wives Tales are very real and very deadly.
The experience of listening to this book was surreal and unsettling in a scary thrilling way. His writing is unsettling dark, almost poetic and smooth.

When US border patrol agent Christian Rivera discovers the body of an undocumented alien in the middle of the vast Sonoran Desert with three enigmatic words carved into her flesh, presumably by her own hand, it triggers a frantic search for the remainder of her party: a group of 25 men and women who have inexplicably vanished into the desert.
Aided by two of the agency's best trackers, Rivera follows the woman's trail into the brutal heart of one of the hottest and most unforgiving landscapes on the planet, where nothing can survive for long. As more bodies turn up, Rivera and the others begin to realize they may be up against an enemy far deadlier than the desert, an unseen adversary that will stop at nothing to take from them what it needs to survive. A mythical evil that may not be myth at all, but horrifically real, could very well be stalking them, and their only hope of surviving the same fate that befell the missing party lies in deciphering the clues to their disappearance before it's too late - if it isn't already....
From Michael McBride, best-selling author of Burial Ground and Snowblind, comes Sunblind, a thrilling new novel of terror and action that'll take you on an unforgettable journey from the desperate streets of Mexico, through the deadliest corridor in the world to a place where mankind was never meant to tread.

    Sad, Creepy, Frustrating...
    Any additional comments?
I went through a number of emotions following this group of humans, some desperate for a better life, some desperate to reach or find loved ones, and some on a selfish journey for themselves. But the absolute desperation of human survival in the dry-death-incurring march through the desert turned from the idea of a better life to praying life end quickly.
I could never begin to imagine how horrible it is to travel on foot with water and food rations that would keep you for a day or two in the sweltering heat and sun so hot it blisters your skin within hours but Mr. McBride did an excellent job of creating that hellish environment and capturing what a human would have to do to try and survive even when there seems to be no point in prolonging life.
This tale was beautifully written and creepy, and frightening, and heartbreaking.
I was disappointed in the epilogue because I felt more should have been done to rectify the problem and I mean a joint Army, Special Forces, etc. And I won't lie, I was hoping there'd be a book two for something like that but C'est la vie!
A great story written WITHOUT romance nor the need to add sexual tension between main characters, and honestly that made this book a 5 star audio for me!
Outstanding, spellbinding, couldn't put it down.
If you could sum up Sunblind in three words, what would they be?
Magnificent, heartbreaking, spellbinding, edge of the seat suspenseful. Can't do it in three words.
    Any additional comments?
I loved this whole book. It's filled with the reality of the struggle many endure trying to live a life most of us will never have to face. This book is a study of the strength of the human spirit. It's also nasty, gritty and ugly. All that and a bit of cryptozoology.
    So disappointing.
I LOVED Mr. McBride's Snowblind (both 1 & 2) and am highly anticipating book 3. However , the premise behind Sunblind is much like Snowblind with the exception of the setting.
