A chilling read that's full of surprises
This is a highly original enjoyable read, relentless in its pace, macabre in its plot, that has a narrative voice uniquely its own. King has created an eldritch place with a chilling tenor of the wyrd - in every sense - located in some alien realm that is both familiar and horrifically bizarre. Enjoy!
A fantastic work of creative genius!

Sam Hunter is a bit of an animal. He's a former Twin Cities cop who lost his badge because of excessive force. Abusive husbands, child molesters, and other lowlifes wound up looking like they'd been mauled by dogs...or wolves.
Now Sam's a low-rent PI in Philadelphia. He takes the kinds of cases no one wants. His clients are usually on the fringes of society. The kind who are prey for all manner of predators--human and otherwise.
When Sam takes on a client they become part of his pack, and no one protects their own better than a werewolf. At least the kind of werewolf like Sam, who comes from a long, long line of Benandanti--also known as "the hounds of God".
In this short story from New York Times best-selling author Jonathan Maberry's The Sam Hunter Collection, Sam tries to rescue an abused woman from her vampire ex-husband.

Really!!! This is only an hour! Really!!!
I can't seem to get enough Jonathan Maberry. I thought for sure there was a mix-up here. The story can't be 10.00 for a story that is only 50 minutes. Yet, this riveting tell just delivers a really well-read, entertaining story. I eagerly await more about this character who speaks like an old-time PI and takes care of the people who he brings into his pack. Worth a credit? Heck no. Worth a listen? Hell Yes! Reader be warned...do you want to send 10.00 for an hours worth of work? If this doesn't help you--I am returning the book and hoping to get an extended book on Sam Hunter. (The story is only rated two because of the length.)
    Nice !
I love the noir touch in this supernatural story. It makes it unique. MORE, please!

    Ending?
I guess that the end of this story is left up to each individual reader because there certainly wasn't one in the final chapter!
    Not good...
First off, the narrarator did this thing with his voice where he would drop it down unnaturally low; it was very annoying. I think I could have dealt with it if it had been the book's only issue.
The story itself started off okay and held my attention well for a while. It wasn't one that was difficult to walk away from, but I did care about the characters and wnated to know what was going on with them. And then, the story shifted. It went from being a supernatural thriller to one that should be filed away in the erotica section. In the beginning, the couple in the story was intimate, but by the end of the book, everyone was and in a more graphic manner than they were in the beginning. It was like he couldn't figure out what to do with these characters, so he would fill the pages with sex and hope for the best. The actual story line at the end of the book was weak and was poorly covered by the author's attempt at erotica. It was not scary and was actually pretty lame.
    Pet Peaves
One of my greatest pet peaves has always been adults not listening to what their children have to say, or shrugging it off as being unimportant. I usually say, "You should have listened.....you got what you deserved. What a great "told you so!" story.
    just getting good
it was just getting good and then it was over but all in all nice short spooky story
    Interesting and descriptive
Creative and entertaining story, interesting ending. Would have liked to know more. I guess you can guess your own ending.

Not Rickman's Best But Still Very Good
This is the second of the books in this series, I'm tempted to call it the Bobby Maiden series but the most interesting character in my opinion is Cindy Mars-Lewis, the cross dressing shaman who played a significant part in Cold Calling and will, according to the advance publicity, have a role in Night After Night.
Cindy is now working as a host on a national lottery show is snarky about the winners and makes some off the cuff comments about the fates of the winners that appear to come true. This brings him under media fire-- no light thing in the UK.
Meanwhile DI Bobby Maiden is being considered for promotion since his old boss was forced in retirement. But it appears that he is being framed for the death of a low level criminal. Grayle Underhill reappears as a reporter for, a magazine for those interested in occult experiences run by a grumpy retired school teacher.
Sean Barrett does the narration and he has thankfully toned down the New Jersey accent he gave Grayle in the first book-- seriously, she had been raised as the daughter of an academic with an international reputation who had lived and worked in New York before coming to England in search of her missing archaeologist sister. When he is on his own ground though with Welsh and English accents he is excellent and as the best narrators do, adds to the experience of the listener.
I've bought this book in paperback and Kindle so I knew what to expect when I started listening to it, but it kept me enthralled for most of New Years Day.
So, anyone who is listening, can we now have The Man in the Moss by Rickman in audio form soon please?
    Phil Rickman's done it again
I thought this book was brilliant. It is one of his old ones which are much better than his newer books. Sean Barrett is a brilliant narrator
    Brilliant narration chilling story .
Phil Rickman , as always , had me on the edge of my seat -this is despite having actually read the book twice already ! Highly recommended .
    Started well, but tailed-off
This book started really strong and I was looking forward to getting into the story. But I lost touch with the plot somewhere along the way and never really got back into it after that.
It is a decent enough listen and the orator
is very good and so I have given it three stars.
    What a Team!
Rickman and Barrett seem the perfect combination of author and voice actor, what a team!

Father Damien Karras: 'Where is Regan?' Regan MacNeil: 'In here. With us.'
The terror begins unobtrusively. Noises in the attic. In the child's room, an odd smell, the displacement of furniture, an icy chill. At first, easy explanations are offered. Then frightening changes begin to appear in eleven-year-old Regan. Medical tests fail to shed any light on her symptoms, but it is as if a different personality has invaded her body.
Father Damien Karras, a Jesuit priest, is called in. Is it possible that a demonic presence has possessed the child? Exorcism seems to be the only answer...
First published in 1971, The Exorcist became a literary phenomenon and inspired one of the most shocking films ever made. Freshly polished and expanded by the author, including new dialogue, a new character and a chilling new extended scene, this unique fortieth anniversary edition provides an unforgettable reading experience that has lost none of its power to shock - and is poised to terrify a new generation of readers.
    Members Reviews:
    it's horror is undiminished
This is probably the most terrifying book I've ever read, and I'm not even religious.
First off, this is an excellent production. I'm not always a fan of the author reading their own work, but Blatty's moody, gravelly voice not only perfectly evokes the content and characters, but also the smoggy, cigarette-ash torpor of the period, when the Vietnam war was still on, the optimistic peace movement had basically ended with the Manson murders, and it was all too easy to believe Satan or some evil force really was taking hold in the world.
The novel might be forever overshadowed by the film, but there are certain things that give the book an advantage. One thing is the slow burn: the horror develops gradually, increasing the tension largely by suggestion at first. A big part of this is doubt. A priest experiencing a crisis of faith is a central character, and the ritual of exorcism requires that medical and psychological explanations be exhausted first, so much of the novel painstakingly examines the poor girl's symptoms, searching for a rational explanation. Another is the description of smells and odours, which the film can't do. This really brings home the assault on all five senses and the bestial degradation that is so horrific.
    The Exorcist
Well this as always been one of my favourite films, so when the book came on audio I was made up. This was a fantastic listen with the narrator just making it with the horrible demon voice that gave me goose bumps 10 out of 10 for this fantastic narrator. When I finished the book I went out to buy the dvd and was very surprised to find how both were very similar .
If you enjoyed the film you will love the book.
William Peter Blatty as the author and narrator
Blatty encapsulates the whole mood of this book and his distinctive voice is perfect. I loved every minute.
    Emotional
This is not horror in my book. Just sheer emotional drama. heart wrenching for a parent but extremely satisfying.
    loved it
The narrator really brings the story alive by changing his voice for each character. brilliant story.

    Terrible!
This is one of the worst books I have ever listened to. I couldn't last more than 30 minutes! Stay away from this one!
Hold my calls on my slow descent to hell please...
I had seriously dubious thoughts about this title. I was looking for humor, and it is funny....the humor is definitely dark in a firefighter / cop / mortician vein. The book is twisted beyond imagination and frankly I'm a bit concerned about Sachs' mental health.
We watch Sadie come unwound...seriously unwound. In a Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy sort of spiral...only funnier.
This is not Jen Lancaster funny, or Tina Fey, but it is dark and twisted and.....funny.
Though not for the faint of heart, it is a great read and twisted in all the best ways.
    Clichéd ending. Boring. Insanely predictable.
I listened to the entire thing. Nothing special at all. The entire thing was only "sadistic" to cover up the poor storytelling.

    Publisher's Summary:
How can calculus help you survive the zombie apocalypse? Colin Adams, humor columnist for the Mathematical Intelligencer and one of todays most outlandish and entertaining popular math writers, demonstrates how in this zombie adventure novel. Zombies and Calculus is the account of Craig Williams, a math professor at a small liberal arts college in New England, who, in the middle of a calculus class, finds himself suddenly confronted by a late-arriving student whose hunger is not for knowledge. As the zombie virus spreads and civilization crumbles, Williams uses calculus to help his small band of survivors defeat the hordes of the undead. Along the way, listeners learn how to avoid being eaten by taking advantage of the fact that zombies always point their tangent vector toward their target, and how to use exponential growth to determine the rate at which the virus is spreading.
Williams also covers topics such as logistic growth, gravitational acceleration, predator-prey models, pursuit problems, the physics of combat, and more. With the aid of his story, you too can survive the zombie onslaught. Featuring easy-to-use appendixes that explain the mathematics necessary to enjoy the book, Zombies and Calculus is suitable for recent converts to calculus as well as more advanced readers familiar with multivariable calculus.
    Members Reviews:
Good story, but requires some calculus knowledge.
What did you love best about Zombies and Calculus?
The story kept my attention the whole time.
What three words best describe Fleet Coopers performance?
Dramatic, Appropriate, and Eloquent (well, as much as calculus allows)
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It was a lot more gory than I anticipated. It's like Numb3rs meets The Walking Dead.
    Any additional comments?
Easy story to follow but you will get lost in some of the math if you don't have a calculus background (mainly derivatives).
    Funny in so many ways!
If you're looking for a zombie book with some math and humor, this is your book.
    Fun
Calculus almost made sense. Not sure why this review system requires so many words. Review of Audible review system - highly annoying
    Well performed, intrinsically flawed.
Entertaining chiefly due to the performance however listening to lines of math formulae doesn't work.

A Whole Slew of Quick, Decent Stories
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The collection was pretty decent. Some stories are better than others and there weren't any stories I didn't like. I think in hindsight I wouldn't mind paying the cash price, just under $10, but I think I would save my credit for something a little more expensive, but it wasn't a waste of my credit either. I would actually like to rate the book 3.5 stars rather than 3, but I don't think it is a true 4 star book.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Some people might wonder about the gore level. This isn't wickedly violent or gorey. It's horror, so you have to figure on some oddness, some uncomfortableness in some of the stories, but there isn't any extreme violence or gore (or sex).
What aspect of the narratorss performance would you have changed?
I am assuming the authors are reading their own works. Again, some of the narrators are better than others, but nobody's narration was bad. Considering how often an author reading his or her own work turns out for the worse, I think each author did a good job reading their works.
Was Baby Teeth worth the listening time?
    Sure.
    Any additional comments?
The stories are quick, the originality of the ideas range from decent to quite clever. Nothing bad here, and there are a few shining stars. A decent collection if you would like some exposure to some lesser known horror writers. Give it a shot.
    Baby Teeth tales of terror
Where does Baby Teeth rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
This is my 1st audio of short stories and I realky enjoyed it xx
What was one of the most memorable moments of Baby Teeth?
The stories Caterpillar , Dads Wisdom, All the ghosts, The birthday present and Peter and the Wolf. Think I may have to start sleeping with one eye open.
Have you listened to any of the narratorss other performances? How does this one compare?
Chris Barnes delivers great narration as always.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I liked to listern to this in chunks a few stories at a time.
    Any additional comments?
A great mixture of stories authors and narrators a must listern.
