    Publisher's Summary:
Horror author C. Dennis Moore returns to the town of Angel Hill, site of his number one best-selling haunted house novel The Third Floor, for another tale in the ongoing saga of this dark and twisted place.
Mandy is about to start as a caregiver at the Mertland Childrens' Home in Angel Hill, Missouri, a town that keeps its secrets by hiding them in plain sight. For the Mertland Home, this means ghosts. Word around town is the place is haunted, and for the workers at Mertland, they make no bones about it: it is.
There are menacing reflections, the third floor hallway, and a dark force lurking in the woods out back. But if Mandy can keep her wits and remember the rules of dealing with the ghosts, she just might have found her calling. However, unbeknownst to Mandy, she's brought a few ghosts of her own, and when she discovers the truth at the heart of the place, all she wants to do is go home.
Unfortunately, as her co-worker Lynn tells her, "The building likes you."

    Awesome
What made the experience of listening to The Ghosts of Mertland the most enjoyable?
I really liked this book because it was very thought provoking and I didn't figure out what really happened until the very end of the book. I couldn't stop listening to the book because I wanted to find out what happened.
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favorite character was Mandy because I could relate to her and what she was going through.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Without giving anything away, I really liked the major plot twist towards the end of the book. It made me really sad when Mandy realized what she had done.
    Any additional comments?
The narrator did an amazing job reading the book. I really liked how she drew me into the character and made me feel like I was going through some of the emotions that Mandy was going through.
Not bad more like a mind f*ck than a story.
Not bad more like a mind f*ck than a story. Not a fan of the narrator. Story was intriguing. The Third Floor by C. Dennis Moore is way better.
    pointless
pointless only having the third book in the series available for audible would be nice to have the other 2 available as well. low score as I have wasted my money only being able to have the third book

Entertaining Book, Narrator needs more experience.
If you could sum up Blur in three words, what would they be?
The book and story line were definitely entertaining but the narrator sounds like a very young reader. She sounds as though she's learning to read while reading aloud. It takes quite a bit away from the story. I'd like to read the next in the series but think I may just purchase the book and read on my own. Don't think I can handle another book read the way this one is.
What did you like best about this story?
    The story line.
How could the performance have been better?
Use a more experienced narrator. This one sounds as though she's learning to read, or reading to 3 year olds.
If you could take any character from Blur out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Ethan. I want to find out if he's good or evil.
    Worth the Read!
What did you love best about Blur?
I enjoy vampire stories and ya/na so this was up my alley. I think I enjoyed the suspense most.
Did Elizabeth Meadows do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
There was as much differentiation as I hoped for. Overall she did good but her pace at times threw me off a little.
    Any additional comments?
Blur is an exciting read from start to finish. The story begins with Nikki and her twin brother Nathan moving out of state due to their mothers new job. But its more than that, their father went psycho on their mother and shes running so to speak. Hoping to find a safe place for the family to live that he hopefully wont track them too.
Nikkis a pretty average teen who shortly after moving to Shore Lake meets a cute boy she crushes over. In a very short time she gets a job and meets Ethan, a vampire or Night Roamer. Instantly she finds herself under his spell and deeply attracted to him. She struggles with this yet is under his spell.
As a vampire book lover I enjoyed the story and may listen/read again in the future but I didnt find it unique enough to go completely wild over. But it is an entertaining story that I recommend for any paranormal book lover.
    blur
it was an easy read with a good reader. plot kept me intertained and I will be following this series.
    Supernatural Beings
Wow, I can' believe all the bad reviews this story received. I guess I can only mention that they one's who have written such bad reviews might should take up listening to stories and then you might just change your mind about the story. Author Kristen Middleton has wrote a unique story and I absolutely enjoyed it so much that I listened to the next book immediately after this one finished. I found this story amazing but I will admit that I hate cliffhangers but honestly who doesn't? I was engrossed in this story from the start.

Great story and one of the best female narrators I've listened to.
I listened to this today during my commute drive int London, this story is perfect length for that at 1.45 hrs long.
A married couple are on a road trip trying to salvage their marriage after one of them has strayed. A strange vehicle and owner on the road leads to a jeepers creepers type of encounter. Delightfully scary and creepy,
A great entertaining short novel that is brought to magnificent life but the simply brilliant narration.
Worth taking time out from a movie to be entertained by this book instead. I will definitely listen to again.
    Suspenseful and cringe-worthy
Juliet and Colton were once madly in love but Colton ruined it all when he decided to diddle the dog sitter (better than the dog, I suppose!). Juliet is fuming mad and who can blame her? When the story begins this is all fresh and told from Juliets POV. Her emotions are red hot as they are driving together to drop her off at her mothers and you really get her. Her husband is a selfish dolt. Bad luck befalls them as their car is sideswiped and Juliet awakens dazed to find herself shackled to a post and things only get worse from there. Damn, and I thought my luck was bad!
The best thing about Juliet is that she is not a whiner. She acts.
The narrator is pure perfection for this tale. She conveys Juliets emotions extremely well as they range from simmering rage to pain, fear and full out anger. Id recommend reading it this way, if youre a fan of audio.
I was gifted a copy of this audio from the author with no expectation of a review but I review everything I read and, if you know me at all, you know this in no way changes my thoughts on the book. If it sucked, I would tell you. But this book was cringe-inducing awesomeness with just enough sarcasm and snark thrown into the dialogue and thoughts to make me a very happy reader.
    Freaked my cats out!
Juliet & Colton are having marital issues. In fact, hes driving her to her mothers house so she can have her space. The road trip is uncomfortable and tense. Its a mix of bittersweetness and anger. They revisit the good times before they were married and argue about the smallest things. They notice a creepy car on the highway, one they later bump into at a pit stop for coffee and a pee. Tinted windows and an odd vanity plate go hand in hand with the Red Priest who drives it.
The suspense builds slowly in this tale. We spend the entire story in Juliets head and so we get to know her feelings on the marital issues quite well. She feels anger and betrayal and perhaps the death of something that once was great. Still, you can see how she also wishes that she and Colton could forget the ugliness and go back to being a happy couple. But thats not a possibility, so she wants some space and time to think about her next move. Also, a part of her wants Colton to be punished and this is her way of doing it.
Pretty soon another element is added in: the creepy tinted-window vehicle. At first, it is just a slow moving vehicle Colton has to pass on the highway. But the odd vanity plate sticks with Juliet. Then they stop at a diner for some coffee and a pee break and they eventually notice the vehicle.

I'll definitely listen to this collection again.
Quick and dirty short stories that definitely fill you with a sense of horror. Decent narration, though not the best I've heard. Overall, a great addition to my short horror stories library.
    Needed a different narrator
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No. The narrator ruined it for me.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Again...another narrator. She is like listening to a machine. She did not do the stories any justice. The stories were good but the narrator made it just sooo boring that I had a hard time listening.
Good Stories - Really bad narration
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, I couldn't listen to this book in one sitting. I hate writing a bad review, but the narrator was so bad. She was monotone and stiff, and honestly, I thought it was a machine reading the book. It was really hard to listen to.
    Any additional comments?
The stories were good, but they would have been better with a better narrator.

Vignettes It's a vin vin situation
Would you consider the audio edition of DEAD: Vignettes (Vol. 1) to be better than the print version?
This is my second attempt at reviewing this book my first was going fine when I hit a wrong button on the keyboard and erased it instead of sending it, that will teach me not to multi-task with the TV when doing something important. The gist of my first was I loved to read as a kid and as I got older I discovered audio books which made it easy to read in my car or at work. When I first started reading the Dead series it captivated me, I was hooked from the beginning. I'll be honest it took me a couple minutes to get use to the chapter, and character jumps but when I got use it I loved it. I love the way TW Brown has of writing about a large group of people all doing something in different places at the same time, very creative. One of my favorite parts of the book is the part called "Vignettes".
Who was your favorite character and why?
I can't really say who my favorite character is, because there are many in the Vignettes that had only one or two stories than died, than there was some who had one or two stories and never repeated, but my favorite characters in Vol. 1 had to be, the guy in the lookout tower in the woods (can't remember his name he started out as a member of a main group and him and a few people stayed) so he only had one story in the Vignettes [ I would like to know more about what happened to them] and Garret and Kirsten. Garret was your average sick son of a bitch. He had mommy issues and projected them on to the women [and in one case girl] he meets. I guess you could say he is a sociopathic narcissist who treats all women like objects. He feels they are below him and an object for his perverted pleasure. He see's them as toys, for him to play with and then discard when he's done. What he didn't see was the strength in a little thirteen year old named Kirsten. Garret tries to break his toys so he can throw them out and get a new one. Through all the physical and mental abuse she never lost focus, she knew that she had to kill this animal before he did this to someone else. I felt that the ending of this particular short was a little anti-climatic considering all the crap he put her thru. I don't want to ruin it for those who haven't read it yet so I'll cut it short and let you enjoy it for yourself.
What about Andrew McFerrins performance did you like?
I was impressed with Andrew McFerrin's his interpretation was interesting. At first I felt like I was at a child's reading hour at a local library.

First people got sick. Then they got very sick
Nick Adams is just a normal guy. He loves his family, appreciates his home, and covets his car. But he absolutely hates his job. Which is what makes it so difficult when not a single customer comes by his store that day. It seems as though there's a bug going around, something that has come out of nowhere and is keeping people at home. Still, it's probably nothing to worry about. People get sick all the time. And besides, things are finally starting to look up. Nick's first customer of the day has just stumbled through the door
His day is about to get worse
It won't be long before Nick's entire life is turned upside down, sending him on a frantic journey through a ravaged world that will ultimately lead him 500 feet upwards to a hilltop amusement park. Is it the last safe place on Earth, or are the monsters at the top of the hill even worse than the ones below?
Welcome to Ripley Heights. Where the fun never starts.

is it me or the story
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The characters seem all a little stupid. For example, the word zombie or 'coming back from the dead' is not mentioned despite all of the blood shed until over half way. Surely the characters would not be so stupid as not to even know what was happening? It would appear in the realm of his book no one had ever read or even heard of a zombie book or film.
What three words best describe Nigel Pattersons performance?
    Did his best!
Did Ravage inspire you to do anything?
    no
    Any additional comments?
To be honest I'm not sure if I have listened to one to many 'zombie end of the world' stories, and I have had enough, or if this story was just plain old average. The story certainly had the elements to be something great, but compared to some other recent releases it does not rise to the challenge.
Perhaps I've Read One Too Many of These
Perhaps I've read one too many of these zombie apocalypse books and have just hit the wall on them, but overall, I found this book frustrating and annoying.
I found the main character very hard to engage with from the beginning. I can see that Wright was trying to write a very 'everyman,' unremarkable character for his main protagonist in the first part of the book, but Nick Adams is SO unremarkable, I sort of kept hoping he'd get bitten and die off fast.
Also, both he and the main character in the second part of the book keep seeming extraordinarily stupid and doing extraordinarily stupid things just to build artificial tension. All of this seems a bit of a shame since the one good thing about post-apocalyptic zombie novels is that the tension is really built in. You can write really smart, capable characters and still have tension galore.
I found the story, on the whole, unoriginal and dreadfully formulaic. The sub-characters were stock and 2 dimensional.
Patterson's narration is fine, but not outstanding. Sometimes a really good narrator can rescue a mediocre story and Patterson didn't succeed in doing it.
    Fun read!
I'm not a zombie fan but I am an end of the world as we know it fan so it takes a lot for me to enjoy a story with zombies in it and this one was easy to enjoy!! I dont think I would of enjoyed it as much if I had read it. Listening to it was better as the narration did a great job and the voice was clear and pleasant.

Now, Shane Wills is about to discover why, as he comes under attack from an evil that has existed since the beginning of time. An evil that most people will never know, because they cannot perceive...the Apparition.
    Members Reviews:
one of the best horror books I have read.
I love this book! He kept me coming back for more. Shane showed a perfect example dedication and love for his children.
    A New Experience
Who was your favorite character and why?
Shane goes through torment I can scarcely imagine but is still able to stay strong for his children.
    Which scene was your favorite?
I liked the very last scene, not because it gave me any good feelings, but because it was able to catch me completely off guard.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It didn't make me cry, but it certainly didn't help me sleep at night. I'm just glad I moved out of my parents house and that I'm not yet a parent myself. I am not going to read this book after I have children.
    Any additional comments?
I met Michaelbrent Collings at a convention in Idaho where he was hosting a discussion on zombies. After the discussion I got to talk with him about his books, and he turned me on to Apparition. Now, I had never listened/read any of his books before I had met him, so I was thoroughly impressed when I found out he was able to write a book that can spook me for the first time. I can't wait for another book of this caliber.
    Ever wonder what kills children?
Would you listen to Apparition again? Why?
I would listen to it again. It is very well written. Quite intense though, a lot of the time I had to break after every 1-2 chapters just to clear my head.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I really enjoyed when Mr. Collings was writing in the kids perspective. But, he really nailed them all. I would've loved it had the teddy bear real-estate agent had more of a role. But, understand why he didn't.
Have you listened to any of John Bells other performances before? How does this one compare?
Didn't think I had. But, going back I saw that he did read Michaelbrent's The Loon. I liked that one. It's been too long to remember how they compare though. However, I am interested in listening to some of his other work now.
If you could rename Apparition, what would you call it?
    Once mine always mine.
    Any additional comments?
When listening make sure to stick around to the author's note. It explains where the author was coming from and helps you realize that he's not totally off his rocker.
I'm sure this book is great, but...
I can't take the narration! This guys sounds like something off of 20/20, which is fine on a Sunday evening. It's just not what I want in my storytelling! It is literally grating on my last nerve! If I knew how to return it, I would, and I'd just buy the book to read old school!!
    Awesome!!
This was a great book! It kept me on the edge of my seat for over half of it. I even found myself listening to it on my way to and from work.

    FIRST TIME BRAY
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
This book could easily be a movie, along the lines of the twilight zone. I would love to see several of the stories expanded into their own books or movies.
    Any additional comments?
First time reading Michael Bray, very impressed. All of the stories were original and thought provoking...very entertaining. Would have loved to have had multiple and women readers for the storires whoes main characters were women.
Pretty good, I'd like to read/listen to more.
Would you consider the audio edition of Dark Corners to be better than the print version?
    Didn't read the print version.
What other book might you compare Dark Corners to and why?
That's hard to say, but his style is not really gory or fantastical. He likes playing around in the mind, showing how people think inside their heads rather than outer experiences. So, I imagine the title describes his style best, he looks at the dark corners of the human mind and the human experience.
    Which scene was your favorite?
I liked all the stories. I was actually impressed with the first story, which in a roundabout way was about zombies. I don't like zombies, I think they are overdone along with vampires, but the story kept me interested even though I knew where it was heading. A few of the stories were fairly predictable, yet Mr. Bray's writing style is strong enough to keep them going on their own merit anyway. Also, I really liked how he ran different stories together, quite interesting and well done. He sometimes leaves something hanging in one story to answer what happened in a later story. Kind of neat and clever.
    Any additional comments?
To me a 3 star book was ok, but I don't know if I'll check out anything by that author again. A 4 star book was pretty darn good, but not the best and I definitely want to get around to checking the author out again. A 5 star book is one that has blown my socks off and I immediately want to start another work by that author. I gave this book/recording 4 stars. I want to read/listen to more of Mr. Bray, the stories were good enough to want more. A few of the stories even get close to 5 star territory for me. I will definitely be making room on my list for more of his works.
    Interwoven stories
The author tied the stories together subtly in a neat kind of way. I didn't fully realize this until halfway through my second listen, when the names between stories were sounding familiar.
The stories themselves were dece. Not much nausea- or chill-inducing terror and gory horror, but the stories definitely contain dark and unfortunate events.
    Enjoyable
These were enjoyable stories, I'm glad I purchased this audiobook. The stories were interesting and kept my interest. The narrator was good also. I plan to listen to more books by Michael Bray.
    Just never got good
    Any additional comments?
I usually don't do the bad review thing. However I think this one is fairly new to Audible, so I thought that, out of duty fellow horror fans, I should write this one.

Upon release he is given a job as a hospital porter but that job involves the burning of aborted foetuses and the memories of what happened to his brother begin to torment Harold.
In the small town where he lives the terror is mounting because of the escape from prison of psychopath Paul Harvey. Within days of his escape a horrifying series of murders begins but there is much worse to come. One of Shauns more disturbing books
Ive read many Shaun Hutson books and I love his style of writing and story telling. This book has been the one that has disturbed me the most to date. I genuinely felt upset at what I was reading at some points which is an unfamiliar feeling for me, and is a tester to Shauns emotive writing. Absolutely addictive and disturbing from start to finish!
    Not one of the best
Narrator didn't help this very slow moving horror. The story didn't really get moving until the last 2 hours by which time it was all too obvious. A shame as Erebus was fantastic
