Great story..Awesome narration..

Love, love, loved Heath and Brook. What a great story. There wasnt any murder or mystery or anything like that. It was just a love story, which Ive begun NOT to like very much. It had a little less than 300 pages but it was so interesting it felt like it was over way too soon. And I have to admit there really isnt enough dialogue for me but I can suffer when the story is good.

Brook was one selfless and brave woman, and didnt take any crap from anyone. Heath was such an arrogant goof I couldnt wait for him to be brought down. LOL

I liked the other players a lot; Blythe, Brette, Blaire and Blaike, Leventhrope, Hawksworth, and poor old Duffen. I liked the dog, Freddy, too. I did not like Sheridan, what an absolute jerk he was.

There was sexual attraction in this story and a nice bedroom scene very near the end of the book. And, there was very little swearing.

As to the narration: Again Stevie Zimmerman was awesome. Every man sounded like a man and she read with such emotion: laughing, whispering, crying, yelling, you name it and she did it. Wonderful narration!

Who was your favorite character and why?

So hard to choose, but I'm going to say Heath. I felt a bit sorry for him when he was thrown into the dovecote. He's endearing, and I love that he wants to take care of not only Brooke, but all the ladies.

Have you listened to any of Stevie Zimmermans other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, definitely! I love the historical touches Ms. Cameron adds to her novels - the language and funny sayings, the way of dress and accessories, and historical facts. I always learn something new about the period when I read her books.

I Am Captivated.

Love this book. The story is amazing. So many twists & turns. Christi Caldwell writes amazing characters who are imperfect & that makes them the best ones to read about. Where does The Rock rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

This was a well written story but its not one of my favorites. I loved the hero, Thom, but I absolutely could not stand Elizabeth's character. She came across to me as a spoiled brat. She wanted Thom in her life on her terms no matter the cost to him. Everytime Thom tried to pull away from Elizabeth she would reel him back in where he thought he might have a chance with her then she would remind him he was beneath her. When he could have married the widow - she ruined that for him. Elizabeth would act jealous and give Thom hope only to crush his love yet again. She was a very selfish person and she didn't deserve Thom at all. He was such a honorable man and tried to do what was right. He worked very hard to get where he was in life. Elizabeth and Jamie, (her brother) kept reminding him he was beneath them. I hated that for him.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Rock?

The scene that made me mad was when Elizabeth was in trying to seduce Thom and he was trying so hard to do the right thing. I hated that part!

What does Antony Ferguson bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

He did a very good job with each of the characters and I love the accent!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Due to the length of the book there was no way to listen to it in one sitting.

I liked the fact that this story didn't have a lot of fighting and battle in it. It was more about the characters and was a good story. I could never get to the point that I liked Elizabeth's character.

I enjoyed Ms. Hunter's story of Tom & Josie. The plot, storyline, and character development were very well done. The story was a bit predictable but romance stories usually have a HEA. I tried but could not get into Ms. Donovan's story. I really struggled with the slow build up. I'm usually a big fan of her writing, but not this time

Couldn't get passed the first two chapters

It is VERY seldom I have to return a book. Especially one that is part of a series I fully enjoy. I will persevere thru the worst of them if at all possible, but this switch in narrator from Dina Pearlman to Gabrielle Baker was something I couldn't deal with. It completely changed all the known characters for me and I felt like I was in being read to by the school librarian. Plus, she has a very pronounced lisp which was just too distracting to overlook. I will have to put this one on kindle and read it instead.

No, the book is interesting. I love the way Elizabeth Hunter writes, and I didn't kinow Grace yet, but I like too.

The two short stories are amazing. I like a lot.

Wonderful. As Always, Elizabeth finished the story with mastery. And as for Grace I found the appropriate end to the story.

Couldn't get past the first chapter-poor narration

This is one I think ill have to read. My commute to work is long and I love being able to listen to books as I drive. That being said, I could not get into this performance. It sounds like it was recorded in someone's bathroom and the narrator has a very irritating lisp now, I'm not down on people with speech impediments, but when you're a professional narrator those impediments cause great distraction. I simply was not able to enjoy the narration.

This was an awesome novel! LeVeque at her finest. I think the narrator did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life. I felt totally immersed in their world, could visualize the characters and places as if I were there! One of my best Audible purchases. Highly recommend!

This is one of the better of the series Character development was better than the previous, storyline was actually more intriguing than the previous, and character development was good as well as the narrator was absolutely excellent Again I think I'll move onto the next in the series. A little to much in the bedroom, but the series thus far is entertaining. The Darcys are very happy, and what we all hoped for. After a while I found myself skipping the bedroom scenes, as they were a bit too much....like 10 times a day everyday! The story of the day to day lives of the Darcys was entertaining and new characters are fun. You should know this book does not cover a large period of time. It truly is almost day to day.

I am disappointed that Audible does not have the last 2 books. The story is incomplete.

A very very short book

I did not realize when purchasing this book how short it was. As a result not much was put into the story. About three scenes and the book was over. It would have been a good book for 2.99 but not for almost $10. My fault for not paying attention.

I loved this second book of the Manhattan series. A continuation of Jessica's life from Manhattan, NY to Manhattan, Ks.

This book is about Jessica`s husband's illegitimate son and an orphan granddaughter of her neighbors that live across the road. It`s a great love story that starts out with two children who learn a lot about life in a small 1800`s western town. Isaac who is afew years older then Emma, leaves Kansas to continue his education in Manhattan, NY. He becomes a gentleman and almost forgets where his beginnings were. I would recommend this series to my friends and family.

A Good Read

I like a book whose characters are real enough to pray. We all do, even when sometimes we think we don't believe. However, this book is not about prayer or religion, but about ordinary real people facing difficulties as we all do because our parents were our parents, and we are ourselves and it isn't always easy to know how to do the right thing, or even, at times, what the right thing is. It is a book that is easy on the reader - no sociopathic perps, no tense scenes fraught with danger. For most of the story, it is a straightforward tale of good (but not perfect) people doing the best they can for each other and only gradually does a situation develop that proves awkward. It is handled kindly, the way really good hearted people would, and this is the difference that sets Donna Mabry's work apart from most of what we find ourselves reading. I really enjoyed this book, did not feel compelled to keep on reading page after page and chapter after chapter. This is an honest, open book about good people, crafted without hooks to skewer your time, always there when you get back to it, with no difficulty sorting out who the characters are and what they are about. Without any preachiness whatsoever, it is a book by a Christian with deeply imbedded wholesome values.

I find in most reviews are full of negative remarks, But I for one love her stories. Though you can tell they are not written by someone who was born during the time In which the stories are being take place in. The stories are wonderful and entertaning.

I think when you begin to listen to the story you must aproch it with an open mind. It took me a few chapters to truly enjoy the books and now I cant wait to read the next one.
