    An Unusual and Complicated Tale
The setting is in Germany, a first for me. Jeff Cummings is an outstanding reader, brings the translation to life. It took me a bit to get acquainted with he characters, but I soon got a feel for them. The story is unusual in that the police are outsmarted by the murderer, and they have difficulty finding a motive. I kept wondering why they could not keep the victims safe. Why not just lock them up?
I wish I had found Book 1 before Book 2, then the detective's personal issues would have fit this story better. Probably better to read Book 1 first, but I already know the outcome of Book !, so that's not an option.
    Brilliant
Terrific cast of characters. This story will keep you in suspense till the very end.

    SO BAD
I thought every detective book with British D.I.s would be good. Oh, so wromg! This is so poorly written and read it could be a parody but, alas, it's not.
Good story but narrator was not great
Story was very good but the narrator sounded like a robot. I could've just had the free narration on the kindle instead of spent the money on the narration. I hate to write a bad review and the voice was nice but too mechanical.
    Painful
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The worst narrated audio book I have ever had the displeasure of listening to. Made the story sound as if it had been written by a 5 year old. I was constantly exclaiming at how dreadful it was.
Would you ever listen to anything by M. A. Comley again?
    No.
Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Charlotte Anne Dore?
    Anyone who can read fluently!
Tolerably good plot - ruinous narration
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Not to an American or anyone familiar with UK dialects. The narrator is low, painlessly "correct" and reads as though she was on a stage. It made a plausible plot dire on the ears.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I liked D.I. Sally Parker because I know it can be tough for a female officer in a police force. Then men don't get much of a run as characters but there is sufficient to add flesh to skeletons.
Would you be willing to try another one of Charlotte Anne Dores performances?
    NO
Was Wrong Place worth the listening time?
    Yes and no.
    Any additional comments?
I was strongly tempted to return this one and after 3 starts I managed to get into the plot. As I am a supporter of police procedurals, the advertising wasn't misleading but books written by women should not always be read by the sisterhood. I'm sorry that Charlotte Ann Dore should try again in a few years when her voice loses the schoolgirl pitch. Alternatively she could practice after whisky.
    Disappointing and dreadfully narrated.
The story was nothing special but the narration was bizarre. She sounded like a 9 year old taking elocution lessons and sounding out every syllable as the syntax was so abnormal. Is the narrator American doing a poor interpretation of an English accent? Dick Van Dyke did better in Mary Poppins !

    a nice change
It's good to hear from other countries about their crimes and detectives and families and people. This is a well-told procedural with good characters and conflicts. More procedure than adventure but well-wrought, well-read and interesting. I doubt I'll read more than one or two of these a year, but they're maybe going to grow on me more . . .
    A Death in the Family
Since I'd read all of the books in this series, I felt as though this family was an extension of my own - and the loss of a father was very real. The characters are incredibly well developed. What made this book stand out within the series was the narration. Amazing! What a wonderful storyteller - dialogue came to life.
    Worth a listen
This is book five in a series that I have not read or listened to. It wasn't a problem, though. It was written in a way that you did not have to be familiar with the series to enjoy the book and understand what was going on. The characters were well written and the story was interesting, and even, at one point, kind of moving. Also, I enjoyed the depictions of life in Botswana.
I tend to be over-critical about narration, but I have nothing negative to say at all. The narration was great. (Mind you, I'm not actually sure what a Botswana accent really sounds like- he could be totally off and I wouldn't know. But even if the accent is off, he was consistent. His interpretations of the different characters never fluctuated, which I really appreciate.)
I will definitely check out more books by Michael Stanley and I'll look out for more works narrated by Nyambi Nyambi.

    Loved it!
Malice. That is the perfect word for the title of the 2nd book in this series. If you like mystery, suspense, Christian values, and romance all in one book, then this is the book for you. Anne Patrick gives us all of this and much more.
Leonor A. Woodworth, as usual, does an superb job narrating Malice. I highly recommend this book.
I was given this audio book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
    Captivating...
I dont usually read many books from this genre, but I really enjoyed this one. The narration brought the story to life and held my interest throughout. The story was well thought out, complete and will keep you listening. I will definitely be watching for this author in the future.
    * I was provided a free copy of this book from AudioBookBlast for review.
    Really well done.
I'm really en enjoying Anne Patrick's work. She's a great writer who delivers an intriguing story and injects the truth of the gospel. The Jo McDaniel's series was at times an "on the edge of your seat" suspense story coupled with drama and reality. Can't wait for her latest series to be available on audio book!
    Wonderful story and narrator!
It was a great sequel. I will be looking for more books by this writer and narrator.
An exciting sequel to 'Ties That Bind.'
What was one of the most memorable moments of Malice?
I loved all the suspense in this murder mystery. I found it difficult to take a break from this audiobook and I wanted to listen to it in one sitting. It is excellently narrated. The story is exciting, suspenseful and rich in character development. We get to revisit favourite characters and see how Jo, Austin and Bailey are getting along as a family.
Have you listened to any of Leonor A. Woodworths other performances before? How does this one compare?
I've listened to a few of Leonor A. Woodworth's other performances and have enjoyed every single one of them. She is a narrator I trust to perform excellently and entertain.

    Really enjoyed this book
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This book is about the real Floriday and the characters were great. I felt like I was there and want more on this story and what happens next.
Low Tide should be listened to before Riptide
Riptide is an excellent and very worthwhile police procedural thriller with so-so narration. The background provided by the first novel in the series, Low Tide, is necessary to fully understand Riptide.
    book 2
I am really enjoying this series so far. I hope book 3 comes out soon, the narrator did better in the second book. I had a problem in the 1st bookie cause there isn't much change or inflection from his real voice and that of the main character which is female. But I think he did a little better in the second book.

Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Police Procedurals
    Publisher's Summary:
In the middle of a summer heat wave, as Naples prepares for one of its most important holy days, a renowned surgeon falls to his death from the window of his office. For Commissario Ricciardi and Brigadier Maione, it is the beginning of an investigation that will bring them into contact with the most torrid, conflicting, and enduring of human passions.
In the world Ricciardi and Maione are about to enter, infidelity appears inextricable from the most joyful expressions of love, and this interdependence sows doubt and uncertainty in both men, compromising their own attempts at love. Ricciardi is one of the most intriguing and unique figures to appear in crime fiction in recent years. He possesses the dubious gift of being able to see and hear the last seconds in the lives of those who have suffered a violent death. This ability makes him an unusually effective investigator but plagues him and renders human relationships almost impossible. He is a classic noir hero and the cursed son of a city that, for all its Mediterranean splendor, is a perfect noir city.
In this new installment in the Commissario Ricciardi series, Maurizio de Giovanni creates a large cast of unforgettable characters and a compelling, suspenseful plot that demonstrates once more why he is considered one of the best crime writers working today.

It was just another Tuesday morning when she walked into the office - young, as I suspected they all might be, another dark brunette with some assistance and enough eye black to match up to Cleopatra. And who am I? I'm Ray, the world's last robot, famed and feared in equal measure, which suits me just fine - after all, the last place you'd expect to find Hollywood's best hit man is in the plain light of day.
Raymond Electromatic is good at his job, as good as he ever was at being a true private investigator, the lone employee of the Electromatic Detective Agency - except for Ada, office gal and supercomputer, the constant voice in Ray's inner ear. Ray might have taken up a new line of work, but money is money, after all, and he was programmed to make a profit. Besides, with his 24-hour memory-tape limits, he sure can keep a secret.
When a familiar-looking woman arrives at the agency wanting to hire Ray to find a missing movie star, he's inclined to tell her to take a hike. But she has the cold hard cash, a demand for total anonymity, and a tendency to vanish on her own. Plunged into a glittering world of fame, fortune, and secrecy, Ray uncovers a sinister plot that goes much deeper than the silver screen - and this robot is at the wrong place at the wrong time.

    Great ideas squandered
Would you try another book from Adam Christopher and/or Dan Bittner?
Bittner yes. He's a good reader. The occasional weird pronunciation, but strong characterization.
What was most disappointing about Adam Christophers story?
Lots of great ideas that never really matter to the story. A character who has his memory reset every 24 hours, and yet this is barely an issue and not really a plot point. It's like if Memento only bothered with the memory issue sporadically. The detective thing is a bit lost as the hero just waits for people to tell him everything. The time period is rarely used as a setting,
What does Dan Bittner bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
I'm not sure I would have liked the main character without the performance.
Could you see Made to Kill being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Please no. There are so many more properties that deserve being made into tv shows.
    Any additional comments?
I love noir, I love retro science fiction. Nothing gelled here.

Would you listen to Midnight in Malmö again? Why?
I wouldn't listen to any book again other than Pride of Prejudice.
Who was your favorite character and why?
    Anita
Would you listen to another book narrated by Marguerite Gavin?
Not if I could help it. The narration is very good but the stammer and voices for men are distracting. As I went along though it got better. I wondered if the stammer was part of the speaking culture of Sweden.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    Better than the book
Would you consider the audio edition of Devil Dealing to be better than the print version?
Yes. I liked them both, but the audio is even better.
What did you like best about this story?
Very relevant to the things I know about police work and criminal justice. And I love thrillers anyway.
Which character as performed by Ian Patrick was your favorite?
Could anyone doubt this? The villain. He is so bad. And the narrator gets him perfectly without making him a caricature.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was horrified at the murder on the Tuesday morning. So graphic and terrifying.
    Any additional comments?
I think it's a really good thriller and so relevant to modern life.
    Excitingly different
What made the experience of listening to Devil Dealing the most enjoyable?
Having read the book and thoroughly enjoyed it, I was wary of trying the audio version. I wondered how one voice could replicate all the fascinating characters, accents, slang words and local-language words in the original text. No need to worry. The author himself reads. Who better to trust with these things? Really enjoyable. And, speaking as a musician, the studio that produced this needs to be congratulated. Great sound.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
There are fantastic action scenes counter-pointed with tender and quite sad moments. And there's a great plot moment when we meet someone we weren't expecting.... better not give it away.
What about Ian Patricks performance did you like?
Very clear professional reading, and thank goodness its from a South African accent. An American accent here would have been out of place, as would a British accent.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Very, very sad at one point, for anyone who's ever been a cop or knows a cop. Tear-jerking, actually.
    Any additional comments?
If I have one criticism it is that the last third of the book experiences a bit of a lull before it then picks up again (magnificently, I have to say). But perhaps the narration is a bit rushed towards the end. I felt the same about the text version, actually, so maybe its a matter of the writer rather than the reader. But thats really a small gripe. I thought this was gripping and different (excitingly so). Whoever the sound engineer is should be congratulated, too.

    Book 3 in series
I liked this title better than Murder in Malmo which was my introduction to Torquil MacLeod' s Sundstrom series. The plot flows smoothly, the murder that almost slips quietly slips off the pages is teased into a a very good mystery. Lots of interesting tidbits on life in Sweden kept me interested. I recommend this one.
The best of the trilogy....and better narration as well!
It is difficult to explain why this trilogy ended up being so gripping. The story-lines were, to varying degrees, predictable from fairly early on in each of the three books.
And yet..... The central character was captivating, and although a bit prone to cock-ups, her profound decency shone through and ultimately wins.
Interestingly, the author pinches a few touches from other Scandinavia-Crime books, (eg: her Islamic side-kick), but it's an enjoyable series of books and this last one was definitely the best of the bunch.
Up to this book, by far and away the largest negative was the narration, which had been awful. The last book sees an improvement in that respect, although her constant mispronunciation of place names continues (eg: the W in Keswick is silent). But in this last book, there are less stumbles with sentence structures.
    Overall.. An easy good listen.
