Don't miss the next thrilling installment of the Faces of Evil!

    As "Vicious" as it gets:
Debra Webb does it again in this 7th book in the Faces of Evil series, "Vicious".
She will keep you on the edge of your seat with your heart pounding at warp speed.
Jess is pregnant and this complicates her life on top of killers, Richard Ellis & Eric Spears
running amuck trying their best to do her deadly harm.
Another great installment in this series and I can't wait for "Vile" book # 8. If you read this first you will want to go back
and start with "Obsession", book # 1 in this exciting series.
    Boston Bob
Another Must Read Book In The Faces Of Evil Series!!!!!!
OMG another edge of your seat thriller in the latest installment of The Faces of Evil Series..The evil is becoming more and more rampant, Jess is dealing with being pregnant, someone is trying to take Dan down as well..Another can't put down book. Turn pager that draws you in from the first page and makes you wish it was still going on at the end....A must read book!!!
Can't Wait To Read It vs. Don't Want It To End!
Picked up the first three books of this series because the covers grabbed my attention, the synopsis interested me & the price was amazing! Have since bought every new book that comes out & now have started pre-ordering them! I was so anxious for this one that I pre-ordered twice! The dilemma now is I can't put it down, but I don't want it to end!
Faces of Evil Book 7. Series just keeps getting better and better!!!
This is the 7th book in the Faces of Evil series. A series of horrific murders have Birmingham in its clutches yet again. Is it the work of some new psycho or is Eric Spears at it again? Also is Jess pregnant and if so, will she ever work up the nerve to tell Dan?
Every book I read in the series manages to be better than the last. The author has a knack of answering some of the questions but leaves just enough unanswered to leave the reader sitting on the edge of their seat ever so IMpatiently waiting for the next installment.
If you love mystery, suspense, with just a bit of romance thrown in, this series is for you. Once you start, trust me, it becomes an addiction.
I highly recommend not only book 7, Vicious, but the entire Faces of Evil series!!!
    GREAT THRILLER SERIES!
I can't say enough good things about this series, except DO start with book #1, so you get the whole picture. Plenty of action and murder and mayhem going on here, which is what I love. Never a dull moment, and no overly explicit sex scenes either. Definitely a "thriller/suspense" series, and I am anxiously awaiting the next one, which is due in March. I won't go into a long ramble about the plot....you can get that on the blurb from Amazon anyway. Try it and you'll love it.

    Great story by Ben Rehder
Thanks to Ben Rehder for continuing the Blanco Co mystery series. Hilarious and engaging. The narrator however ruined the story for me. He tries unsuccessfully for a Texas drawl and it is distracting and tedious and prevented me from getting beyond the 2nd chapter. If you like Ben Rehder, you might just want to read the ones narrated by Robert King Ross.
    Great colorful characters!!!!
Not my favorite narrator. He makes some of the character sound a little washed out, and theses are colorful characters. Hopefully Mr Rehder will keep the blanco county mysteries coming!!!

    More editing, particularly dialogue

    Unimpressed
What didnt you like about Cat Goulds performance?
No depth in her narration and she has a monotonous voice.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment. I have lived in Australia, love the people and the country, this is a very poor general representation of the country. Little real sense of place. It could have been a much better book with very little further efffort .

Quick, clever, and terrifying, Jon McGorans Drift is a commercial thriller in the tradition of Nelson DeMilles Plum Island.
    Members Reviews:
If You're From Philly SOUND LIKE IT *#*@#!!
Marc Vietor has not the slightest trace of the Delaware Valley in his mouth! As I wrote about Jim McCance's reading of Robert Ellis's "The Dead Room" "I'm a muti generational Philadelphian. No one in Philly speaks like any of Jim McCance's characters. He's like listening to an Austrailian speaking American, you know, like drinking beer with fruit in it." Substitute Vietor's name for McCance's above K?
But the Dead Room was a good book, Drift, well, not so much. Oh, the very basic nut of the plot's clever Frankenfood and like that. But the stupidity of Doyle Garrick in not comprehending what every reader knows half way through this thing is beyond irritating. Nope, I'm finished with this series. On a like-ability scale of 1-5, Carrick's underwater into negative range. McGoran writes well enough, but he seems to be touching all the boxes on a 'You Too Can Write A Novel School's' check list of things that belong between the covers.Spatula in the sappy relationship between Carrick and damsel-in-distress Watkins and BLEH! What's she see in Garrick? He's not described but I guess he looks what? Virile? Otherwise he's an unredeemed ass.
Oh yeah I now live approximately where this story is supposed to be set. Maybe I'll get the county commissioners to sue McGoran for defamation? Has Carrick ever visited Pennsylvania? AAARGH!
And here we go again with the Everyone- in- every- police- agency- but- the- hero's- an- idiot- theme Authority SH*TS is so overused as a plot device that it should come wrapped around a bottle of Pepto-Bismol.
Yep, didn't like it. Recommend you invest your credit and time other-where. Feel like my memory needs a HAZMAT shower to wash away the MEH!
DRIFT go to the TOP OF THE LIST! Fantastic
Rarely do I get everything I want in a book but this one is a gift to my ears. Great mystery, no loose ends, complicated plot twists, fabulous character development. I smell a hint of an agenda but it didn't take from the thrill of this book. I found myself liking this character, not too badass, not too fearless, he misses his Mom after she dies and is relentless at solving the mystery.
Let me take a minute to say why I love Marc Vietor as a Narrator. First his voice is old Hollywood amazing and crisp, like Errol Flynn, Cary Grant, Olivier, you get the picture.

    Members Reviews:
John Lutz & Scott Brick r a great suspense team
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
YES! This is such a good book. John Lutz writes some very sick characters, they are not for the reader who doesn't like vivid graphic descriptions. But, for people who do his books are so full of nail biting edge of the seat suspense.
What did you like best about this story?
I love how this and many of John Lutz books travel back to historic events and create characters who were not just born seriel killers but instead were made over the course of decades.
Which character as performed by Scott Brick was your favorite?
Scott Brick could read a geography book and make it sound exciting. So I would have to say ALL!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Yes and I did.
    Any additional comments?
I can't go into detail but I honestly believe this is one of Lutz best works. The story spans a 60 +/- year period. It has a coherent story line that goes from future to past and brings everything together in the end. It is very plausible to see how this seriel killer was made. I highly recommend this book, if you've never read/listened to any of the other Frank Quinn books this can be read as a stand alone but I do enjoy the familiarity with the characters and building the on relationships I am familiar with.
    Unbelievable --disappointing story line
Well...this novel should have been listed as a supernatural thriller. It's not a mystery or detective story because the villain is so unbelievably clever. And, there are lots of scenes of torture of women so avoid this book if you find it disturbing. In fact, most of the female characters are so one dimensional (and pretty stupid) that it really detracts from the story. Add to that....it's way too long!
    Don't waste a credit!
    Another Lutz success!
Enjoyed "Frenzy". Story held my interest and as usual, Scott Brick is fantastic as a narrator. Readers won't be disappointed with this one.
    DOA
Book was ok, not one of my favorites by Lutz, but worth the credit. Scott Brick is always fantastic and can bring an ok book to a great book
    Stay with it.
I nearly stopped listening about an hour or so in, but after a little longer, more of the threads started coming together and then it was better. Not great. But better. I'll keep buying these for now. Was REALLY GLAD one character was not in this one. I won't say who but she was in the previous books and added zero to the books. Good choice to leave her out.

    Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Noir
    Publisher's Summary:
Spring has come to White Bear Landing - and so has the law, in the firm hands of Royal Mounted Policeman and pilot Bob Dixon. Dixons as gruff, tough, and good-looking as Russell Crowe, and in this outpost halfway between the arctic mines and civilization, hes known for taking the law to extremes. More than once Dixon has meted out his own brand of rough justice with hard fists and hot lead, but now the tables have turned. The past has come back to haunt him, hes been set up as a murder suspect, and a rogues gallery of enemies are lining up to settle old scores....
Out on the icy tundra, on the edge of the world, revenge can be cold - and brutal. Dixons only hope is to let the trust of a good friend and the love of a good woman lead the way to true justice and redemption - on Arctic Wings.
Hubbard never wrote a word, conceived a character, or described a setting without first finding out all he could about the people and places that drove his stories. He wrote: "I began to search for research on the theory that if I could get a glimmering of anything lying beyond a certain horizon, I could go deep enough to find an excellent story. I read exhaustively. I wanted information and nothing else." His exhaustive research - and search for the excellent story - comes through brilliantly in Arctic Wings.

Grand Adventure In The Cold North
âGrand Adventure In The Cold North.â
Bob Dixon of the Royal Mounted Police is nicknamed âLawbookâ Dixon because he shows no mercy on criminals. Raised by a strict father who was an iron judge, even the family had to be above the law and his rules at all times. Bob hated the nickname heâs acquired, but he also hated crooks, and he was a tough Mounty that always brought the guilty man to trial. At White Bear Landing he tangles with Taggart, a tough trapper suspected of killing and robbing a man in the north. When Taggart tries to escape, Bob shoots him in the leg, leaving him needing a cane to get around. But evidence points to an Indian as the murderer, and Taggart is released and Bob forced to resign. It was all a frame, and Taggart was guilty, and Bob had to prove it. Plus, he has met a girl, Nancy McClane, at the White Bear Post, and they are in love.
Once again, L. Ron Hubbard proves he can write any genre, and his pulp writing still stands up today as some of the best adventure yarns written for the pulp magazines. âArctic Wingsâ was originally published in the June 1938 issue of FIVE-NOVELS MONTHLY. Highly recommended.
    Excellent "Northern" Pulp Yarn
I hadn't read a Northern in a while and was in the mood for one, but this short novel by L. Ron Hubbard (originally published in the June 1938 issue of the pulp FIVE NOVELS MONTHLY) isn't a Gold Rush/fur trapping/frontier story like I expected. Instead it's an adventure yarn contemporary to the time it was published, featuring radium mining, payroll robberies, and Mounties who fly planes and engage in aerial dogfights rather than mushing around with snowshoes and dogsleds.
Bob Dixon is a flying Mountie who's feared by criminals throughout the north country because of his inflexible devotion to the law and his ruthless manner of carrying it out. His nickname is "Lawbook" Dixon.

The One in Which Brad Posts that he Enjoyed this Book. "Waynie, I need another favor."
The thing I liked the most about this story was that it brought me back to a summer in the 80s when we drove to Tucson to visit my Mom's Aunt and Uncle, who was a professor at U of A. Not far from the suburbia in the hills was the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. From what I remember, it was a short drive back into the desert then, a quick reminder that humanity, even humanity as vast as little Tucson or monstrous Phoenix, is but a small dot on a bigger natural world.
Thanks Wayne! You are truly a man of words, sentences, and ideas, not just letters.
    Hauntingly Good
Wayne is an amazing writer who is able to capture dialog and details that feel real and in turn, bond you to the characters. His first effort shows the beginning of a great career. I hope there are many more books to come.
