Narrator: Casey Holloway, Jon Wierenga, Pat Young
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 7 hrs and 45 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 05-07-13
    Publisher: Hachette Audio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 141 votes
    Genres: Teens, Ages 11-13
    Publisher's Summary:
In Viking times, Norse myths predicted the end of the world, an event called Ragnarok, that only the gods can stop. When this apocalypse happens, the gods must battle the monsters - wolves the size of the sun, serpents that span the seabeds, all bent on destroying the world.
The gods died a long time ago.
Matt Thorsen knows every Norse myth, saga, and god as if it was family history - because it is family history. Most people in the modern-day town of Blackwell, South Dakota, in fact, are direct descendants of either Thor or Loki, including Matt's classmates Fen and Laurie Brekke.
However, knowing the legends and completely believing them are two different things. When the rune readers reveal that Ragnarok is coming and kids - led by Matt - will stand in for the gods in the final battle, he can hardly believe it. Matt, Laurie, and Fen's lives will never be the same as they race to put together an unstoppable team to prevent the end of the world.

Good for Riordan fans; improves as story continues
Would you consider the audio edition of Loki's Wolves to be better than the print version?
We didn't read the print version. It is well-suited to an audio version.
What other book might you compare Loki's Wolves to and why?
Very much along the lines of the Rick Riordan books, though it suffers a bit by comparison. At the beginning, i was a bit disappointed, thinking it didn't live up either in the story or the narration to the Riordan audios. By the end, though, I very much appreciated it, My son (age 12) was drawn in from the beginning. It helped to tide him over to the next Riordan book!
    Any additional comments?
Very educational in the way that the Riordan books are. We both learned a lot about Norse mythology in a very fun way.
    Great story, poor naration
My son and I love these books, but it was a little difficult for me to listen to. There are 3 narrators and they don't read with much enthusiasm or emphasis. The female voice almost sounds like a robot. It could have been done so much better!
    Great!!!!
This was a fantastic audiobook a great listen.... I can't wait for the next in the series.

    Title: Facing the Lion
Subtitle: Growing Up Maasai on the African Savanna
Author: Herman Viola, Joseph Lemasolai Lekuton
    Narrator: Kevin R. Free
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 2 hrs and 13 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 02-27-13
    Publisher: Recorded Books
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 43 votes
    Genres: Teens, Ages 11-13
    Publisher's Summary:
Joseph Lemasolai Lekuton is a Maasai tribesman of Kenya. In this fascinating autobiography, he shares stories about growing up in his nomadic tribe - from licking sweat off cows noses to survive a drought, to facing down a lion at age 14, to playing soccer for the president of Kenya. The only member of his family to receive a formal education, Joseph sometimes lived as much as 40 miles away from school. While at school, he learned about Western culture and traditions. A member of two very different communities, Joseph struggled with what he was taught and what he already knew. But eventually, he learned to balance two worlds.
Hailed by Childrens Literature as a "superb book for any age", Facing the Lion is a riveting tale of one man who took his destiny in his own hands and became an extraordinary citizen of the world.
    Critic Reviews:
"An intriguing portrait of a remarkable life and a culture little known to most American readers." (
    Publishers Weekly)
"What gives this short, readable book its power is Lekutons authoritative, intimate view of now and then." (

    Just lovely
I hate it when it ended, because it was just so lovely - must read if you're going to Kenya.
    Beutiful. Wonderful
couldn't stop till it was over. loved what he did for his mother. I wish u the best . Thanks 4 your story
    It was Excactly What WeNeeded
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
My husband and I are going to Kenya next week to volunteer in a dental clinic which serves the Maasai tribes. This was very useful information for us to help us to understand the people we will be serving. It was simply told but wonderfully human in its revelations of the relationships and activities of the tribes. My only regret is that I would like to know where the author is today and what he is doing. It ended too soon.

Complete letdown was to find out that book 5 was published only in electronic format, and will not be made into an audiobook. Boo to the publisher!!!

In separate chapters John and his daughter, Cylin, who was nine at the time, recount the story of that year. Cylin tells their story from a childs point of view, sharing vivid memories of confusion, loss of friends, and the struggle to build a new life.

Heartbreaking. Justice just out of reach.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, perfect example of how bad things happen when good men stand by and do nothing. The man who shot John Busby got by with it because he was a bully who scared others into LETTING him get by with it all.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me feel sorry for the family, made me appreciate those who take public service seriously and made me MAD as hell at those who stand by and do nothing.

    Members Reviews:
    We love this series!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
My children and I love this whole series. Philip Reeves creates a whole amazing world, similar enough to ours that it is families, yet alien.
What other book might you compare Scrivener's Moon to and why?
The Predator Cities series, also by Philip Reeves. Why aren't they on Audible!
Terrible reader compared to the official versions
Is there anything you would change about this book?
    Yes get a better reader
What other book might you compare Scrivener's Moon to and why?
The other two Fever Crumbs read by Philip and Jenny Agutter - Philip was great reading Fever Crumb, and though she wasn't quite so good, Jenny still brought A Web of Air alive.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
obviously had no interest in the book whatsoever, her reading sounded forced throughout.
    Any additional comments?
Wait for a proper audio version (which I expected this would be) - not one of these 'Scholastic' ones
    Great book ruined by narrator
Poor narrator, loved author's narration of first book in series and Jenny Agutter good too, but am sad to say l feel this narration felt forced, everything over pronounced every other word seems to be read as if underlined or with an exclamation mark.
Hope this book will be released again with Philip Reeve as narrator or just anyone better!
great story but didn't enjoy narrator change
Was disappointed that the narrator made characters sound really posh. This created discrepancy between this book and the rest of the series.
    Narration
The excellence of Garth Nix's work is without question but how on earth could Audible allow such an inept reader to narrate it
Sarah Coomes has no feeling for this book and is obviously unaware of the power of the material that she presents. Her intonation can be compared to that of a foreign language student where the end of every statement end with an up-tilted ,questioning tone.
I looked forward to the release of this audio book for so long but was nearly brought to tears by the narration. There are so many excellent narrators in your stable.
Please, Audible, listen to this yourselves and never do this to me again.

    Critic Reviews:
"This year can boast one genuine small masterpiece. . . . The Wolves of Willoughby Chase . . . is almost a copybook lesson in those virtues that a classic children's book must possess: charm, a style of its own, the skill and authority to create a small world without writing down to small readers." (Time Magazine)
"It's a funny book. The language is so fantastically right." (School Library Journal)
    Members Reviews:
    Charming!
This is a beautifully read Gothic tale for young people, fun for adults, too. Think The Secret Garden plus Dickens with just a dash of alternative world: those wolves!
    Great story, not-so-awesome reading
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Wolves of Willoughby Chase?
I love this story, but the reading was slightly disappointing. It's probably because I grew up listening to this story on audiocassette and the reader was much livelier and more energized than this audiobook. I wonder if I hadn't experienced that at first if the reader wouldn't bother me as much.
Loved this book when I read it in grade school
I still love it as an adult. I plan on reading her other books in addition
    Great story
Great story I love how much Sylvia and Bonnie care for each other The story is very exciting and adventurous.
    A Perfect Story
If you could sum up The Wolves of Willoughby Chase in three words, what would they be?
    Wonderful, Exciting, Satisfying
    Which scene was your favorite?
    All of it
    Any additional comments?
This book is every bit as good as I remember it being when I read it as a child, and an equally compelling, sweet read for an adult. A good book for parents and children to listen to together, it is by turns thrilling, frightening, and ultimately quite happy.

    absolutely excellent
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This book breaks down its character into imperfect humans as you would expect but doesn't bother with glorifying the flaws of its characters. It does not try to apologize or excues its characters' flaws. It just presents them to us. To me, that was absolutely amazing
What was one of the most memorable moments of Everybody Sees the Ants?
There is this very intence bully scene that the main character references throughout the novel that really brings clarity to his fear of facing his bulley's
What about Kirby Heybornes performance did you like?
EVERYTHING. He was a perfect performer of just about every character.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
"Everybody sees the ants" probably. It may be the title but its also the most important message of the book!
    Any additional comments?
This book is such an important read for anyone who is looking for a deep emotional novel. Don't expect romance or late night walks on the beach. This is about some of our darkest human flaws. Cowardice. Escapism. Bullying. Ignoring problems. There is so much to dig through in this book. It is wonderfully, wonderfully full.
    I couldn't stop listening.
Great young adult read. Coming of age, bullying, first kiss dysfunctional family and a satisfying ending ate all incorporated in Kirby Heyborne's novel.
