An Excellent Overview!

I listened to this alongside an audible edition of Augustine's Confessions in preparation for teaching this text at the undergraduate level. I was a bit worried about the team teaching approach at first, as both Herzman and Cook interject on each lecture, but I found they did a marvelous job of bouncing thoughts off of each other and furthering discussion. I have listened to five or so "Great Courses" on audible and this has been my favorite thus far.

Highly Recommended!!

Firstly I need to disagree with one of the other reviewers regarding having two people give the lecture. Of course this is personal preference, but Herzman and Cook make a great "tag team". It breaks up what could be monotony with different voices, comments, to some extent style, and yet it does not - in my opinion - break up the compelling flow of the narrative.

The voices are clear and easily understandable, and most importantly, this is a true lecture, not someone reading a book. It is dynamic, has the odd pauses and corrections (the wrong word is said and it is then corrected), making it "real".

Their insights into Augustine are hugely interesting. I had read the Confessions and had to say I was not understanding what all the fuss was about. However, with the insights provided here, I will go back and re-read. And, it is a great price. I have the monthly subscription with Audible and this lecture was one credit.

A Must Read for Christians

This is s a book that any believer who has been around for any length of time must read. This is especially helpful to those who have been through Bible College or seminary and hsve spent some years in ministry. Very eye-opening and refreshing.

Every Christian Must Read This

So this is a very short book to listen to and read , on audible it was a little over two hours. There is honestly nothing I don't like about this book, the narrater did a great job but more importantly this book itself is amazing. This is a practical book for every Christian. It reminds us that the gospel is not only for the unbeliever but the believer as well and how we can never move on from this but rather daily preach it to our hearts and use it as the lens in which we interpret every thing in scripture and life

A good expository lecture on Revelation

Dr Creasey makes it clear that he is a Bible teacher not a Bible preacher. As a Bible teacher, hes very good. He has a wealth of historical information that he folds into his Bible lectures which is very helpful.

This study isnt going to reveal anything controversial. Having gone through Dr Creaseys 60hr through the Bible course (highly recommended), I would say there isnt much more you will get from this study than what is in the two or three lessons at the end of the 60hr course. But, if youre like me, I enjoy his studies and plan to go through the individual lectures one at a time.

As a criticism, I dont like how he brings in Dauntes Inferno or the Divine Comedy as additional books to explain Satan or Hell. The Bible is the Word of God everything else is not in the same ballpark. You need to balance this study with Bible teaching at your local Bible believing church. I dont know if Dr Creasey starts or ends his lectures with prayer and the prayer is removed from this audio, but I would have liked to hear a prayer to bless the teaching as it is critical when you study the Word of God.

Amazing Study

Where does Paul: From Sinner to Saint rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

This is the second Logos Bible Study I have listened to by Dr. Creasy and I can't stop listening to it. He is very engaging and mixes the right amount of humor in his lessons to keep it interesting. I find myself sitting outside my office when I get to work wishing I had farther to drive as I don't want to stop listening. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone.

This's an interesting study of Acts and the letters Paul wrote. It's in-depth and at times humorous. A must for anyone studying the New Testament.

WOW What a message!!

David has won my heart. Although another reviewer said that the audio was no good, I would have to say that I did not find this to be true. I have just listened to this book and found it wonderfully refreshing. In days where peoples' personal wealth is exploding and the other side of the earth millions are dying it is spectacular to see how much one church can make a difference in this world. David not only spoke on the subject of giving, he led his megachurch to follow him down that path as they slashed budgets in his church and gave the money to overseas missions.

I am reminded of Jesus who put his life out front for people to follow. Jesus was a leader in every sense of the word and so is David in his actions and that of his church. I wish there was more to the book

Thought provoking

This book challenged me to think in new ways about how to read the Bible. I've spent time studying the overall story of the Bible, but Professor McKnight's description of Wiki-Stories adds a new layer to that analysis/understanding.

Scot McKnight offers a helpful and contemporary way of reading interpreting the Bible. I found this perspective to be fresh and inviting. He addresses several concerns within the Church today that have plagued us with problems because of how we interpret the biblical narrative. Definetly would recommend this book to a friend. The book has change the way I read and apply the Bible. Scot uses some great examples to show how the Bible is and was typically read and interpreted now and in the past. Many touchy subjects are brought up but Scot leaves most of the final decisions up to the reader, while providing guidance on interpretation.
