    Publisher's Summary:
After years of looking for a place to belong, Paula Andrews finally finds her niche in Tarpon Springs, Florida. Her soap and candle shop flourishes, and her friendship with the Papadopoulos family gives her the love and support she never got from her own family.
The only thing missing is a romance - or, in the grand hopes of the Papadopoulos family, a proper marriage. It would preferably be with Nick, their favorite son, who is currently serving in the air force. Paula, however, has doubts. After all, he's been gone a long time, and he loves flying. Their lives have grown apart. Would he still feel anything for her?
When Nick comes home on leave, sparks fly - and not just with Paula. Nick's father wants him home, helping with the family sponge: the diving business. His mother wants him back in the family and back in church. Nick just wants Paula...and the air force.
So who's going to give in first? And what will it mean for their love and future?

    Loved this book!
If you could sum up Sweet Baklava in three words, what would they be?
    A sweet romance.
What did you like best about this story?
I felt like I was right there in the story. Descriptions are wonderful and I was wanting some baklava!
    Any additional comments?
I love Debby Mayne's books. I would recommend this one to others for sure!
    Great Book
Would you listen to Sweet Baklava again? Why?
Maybe. I generally don't like to listen to others read .
What other book might you compare Sweet Baklava to and why?
    Not sure.
What about Hallie Ricardos performance did you like?
She did a decent job in using both grammar (pauses etc.) and some changes in her voice in order that the story, and characters do not bleed together in a monotonous fashion.
    Any additional comments?
I believe this is the first Christian Book I ever read, a couple of years ago. Now I generally prefer historical fiction. However , Sweet Baklava is one of the books that will always be a favorite of mine.
I like the contrast of the loving family v. dysfunctional families. The insecurities young girls face in high school, what a little bit of determination can result in, paying forward what God has taught us about life , the difference that a good friend makes, the difference that Jesus Christ makes, investing in others in your community can make you happy and brig you peace, that communication is key in all of your relationships.
I don't think my review can do the book justice.
Generally, I prefer to read vs. listening to a book, and it took me a little bit to get into this again and took me a lot longer to listen than actually read the book. However, I will say the narrator was at least pleasant to listen to, she wasn't nasally or whiny, nor was she irritating.
It's just that I am more visual than an auditory person , I just don't think I'll ever be entirely content to listening to someone read to me.

Enjoyed reading the book. Light, funny, entertaining. Could not bear the audio version. Narrator unlistenable! Excruciating!
    Bible study might enjoy this
I expected humor and fun but this book was a religious lecture and not very entertaining. Maybe good for a bible study group, but not my cup of tea.

    Lots of Potential, But Mostly...Meh
Let me start by saying I have met Cynthia Ruchti and sat under her for a writers' class. She is a good teacher/speaker and a gifted writer. This was also my first time reading her writing, so I hope I can give more of her books higher ratings in the future. Now, on to the review itself.
Cynthia has a great idea here, with elements that drew me in instantly. Becca/Jayne is a relatable character who faces familial challenges with grace, but still feels realistic emotions. Like another reviewer, I'm not sure how much of a stigma Dr. Morrow's reputation would cause these days, but choosing to run and change her name was still within the realm of possibility for Becca. I didn't blame her at all and wanted to see her craft a new life for herself.
As part of that new life, Isaac, Aurelia, and Geneva are all great characters. They provide the family and stability Becca has never had, and in Isaac's case, see her as a woman worth getting to know and falling in love with.
This is the part where we discuss why this book is, in my opinion, just "okay." There simply isn't enough of it. Actually, I'm struggling to think of scenes and elements beyond the likeable characters that I actually remembered, and there aren't many. For example, one key plot point is that Isaac eventually suspects Becca of foul play. That's a great idea and a wonderful way to ratchet up the suspense--but it kind of putters along for a chapter or two and then goes, poof! I don't remember feeling worried for Becca or Aurelia, upset with Isaac, or really anything. I also don't remember feeling much when some of the familial revelations were brought to light, and I should have.
Once again, this was my first time reading Cynthia Ruchti, and she did have a unique and engaging premise. I'll give her another chance with Song of Silence and see how it goes.
What would make you change your name so you couldn't be found?
An amazing story about dealing with life's surprising and sometimes devastating "obstacles" in ways that honor God.
    Great Story
Absolutely loved All My Belongings. Character development and pacing of the story are excellent. This is my fourth Ruchti book and I've reaaly enjoyed each one. Easy reads with solid plots and interesting settings. I'm hooked.
    Five Stars
    A good Christian Novel.

    Nice little romance.
Where does Imperfect rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
It is a solid short story just long enough to finish on the drive to work. Good story and good narrator. It is a nice little story about overcoming insecurities and the power of love.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Albion is the most interesting character. He has a great sense of humor, especially about his name. He is kind and decent. He is also blind.
What about Adam Zenss performance did you like?
I am a fan and have listened to many of Zens's books. He has a nice voice and is a great narrator. Here he gives another solid performance.
If you could take any character from Imperfect out to dinner, who would it be and why?
I would take Lena, Amy's roommate. She is lively and fun. She cares about people and is extremely loyal. She would be fun to talk to.

    * I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
This is a collection of twenty Christmas themed short stories and poems.
Moving from town to town can make it hard for young children to make friends. But a school Christmas party hosted by her Mom might change all that.
A mall filled with Christmas shoppers. A lost child. A mysterious soldier who watches over the child.
The poems and stories that are part of this audiobook all have a Christmas theme and a theme of family, forgiveness, home and hearth.
The narrator does a wonderful job of telling each story. The only complaint I have about this audiobook is the sound quality. It isn't horrible, but at times it sounds like the narrator is located in an enclosed space - not quite an echo, but similar.
I rate this audiobook as 4 out of 5 stars

    Publisher's Summary:
Where would your soul be if you died right now?
Chances are, not where you think. This is the fictional story of a leader in a conservative church as he takes his journey into eternity. Biblical teachings, writings of early Christians, and true events form the foundation of this story.
But this book is more about your affection than your direction, because what you think will determine your journey in the afterlife.
    Members Reviews:
An excellent visual account of biblical truth
I've known John Orr for over 35 years. His passion for Christ, His Church and the souls of men is without question. His loyalty to the purity of the Word of God has inspired many. "I Died Last Night" is a sobering look at what it means to genuinely follow Jesus by examining the consequence of failing to do so. It is my prayer that billions of people would read this book and accept the challenge to study God's Word with a sincere eye toward eternity.
    Don't read this book.....
......unless you want the hell scared out of you! I once heard an old preacher say, when asked if given the opportunity, what would he have done differently in his preaching career, he said he would have preached more about heaven and hell. Imagining eternal death, punishment, separation from God is a difficult thing for us to wrap our minds around, beside the fact that we don't want to accept the reality of such a thing. This book should compel one to ".....continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, ....." because what you choose to do with and for Jesus in this life determines where you spend life hereafter.
Read. You will lament..but must read!
Jesus spent more time talking about Gehenna than He did heaven. His audience, no matter who they were, were all sinners. He made sure that they knew that if they didn't repent this is what they have to look forward to.
God has used this book, along with all of the scripture used within, to open my eyes to the disgusting and terrifying horror of eternal damnation. The thought of spending eternity without Christ has always been frightening but to experience it through the conscience and person of the man described in this book has made me look hard at my life to see if I am really seeking and loving the Lord with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength. I can guarantee you will want to put this down. But I encourage you to keep reading it. This is a book for everyone who can comprehend its material and I believe that the short nature of this book (79 pages) is enough to cause you to look deep into your heart as well, possibly for the first time and ask yourself as the author put it: where would I spend eternity if I died last night?
    A must read.
A must read. I have never been so humbled by a book written by a man. While reading this book I cried, I prayed, I called out to loved ones, I thought (a lot). I would recommend this book to anyone. It won't make you comfortable. In fact, it will erase a lot of comfort, but at the same time it will help you to realize how dangerous comfort is. This book has encouraged me and motivated me. It helps us to count the cost. Truly a life of comfort and sensuality is not worth an eternity of torment and pain. Jesus is the way to escape what's written about here and I pray I will do everything I can to obey the Lord, and hopefully help as many as possible to do likewise. This book is great.
