"A Christmas Carol" is the first, and the most famous novella by Charles Dickens in the "Christmas Books" series.
Scrooge, an old miser, is "a squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous, old sinner". He hates Christmas, calling it "humbug". The tale begins on a "cold, bleak, biting" Christmas Eve in London, exactly seven years after the death of Scrooge's business partner Jacob Marley. At home that night, Scrooge is visited by Marley's ghost, who is forever cursed to wander the earth dragging a network of heavy chains, forged during a lifetime of greed and selfishness.
Check out to see how this and three other meetings with the spirits of Christmas changes a hopeless creature's life for good in this all-time classic, which have never been out of print.

TV and Movies versions were good, but the book is better. . .
One of my co-workers encouraged me to read this since I have only seen the TV/Movie versions. It was a quick read and very enjoyable. Fortunately, the TV/Movie versions weren't too far off the mark. Regardless, there were facets of the story that you would only get through the book, which is why reading the book will always be my favorite option.
BAH! HUMBUG!! "God bless Us, Every One"
A Christmas Carol is a beloved Christmas favorite. Nothing says Christmas like favorite Christmas stories. This timeless tale has been told in many versions. Iâve seen the movie and play but Iâve never read the book. I thought it was about time to finally read this tale.
The illustrations throughout the book were fun to look at. Not common to find illustrations in books today unless they are children stories.
Lots of great quotes come from this story but the most famous is BAH! HUMBUG! followed by:
    "God bless Us, Every One!"
    Standalone
As great to read vs as to watch as a production.
We've enjoyed many kinds of productions of this classic Scrooge story. The original makes us 'rise to the occasion' - or at least gets us to mentally take the time to step back in that era. Life was so different, so the real factor is (I think) a little richer, than already assembled viewables. Emotional, and the older language adds some incentive to digging into the story.
    A must read!
Dickens has always intimidated me. Somehow, I made my way through high school and college without having to read one of his novels. Finally, a few weeks before Christmas, I decided to give this a try when I learned it is relatively short. I figured if it took some work, at least it wouldn't take all that long. I'm sorry I waited so long. It was impossible for me to separate this from the many versions of A Christmas Carol I've seen over the years. I loved it. I enjoyed the glimpse into the time and place of the story. The story and theme are, of course, legendary.
Don't be intimidated. This is a book everyone should read at least once.
    Classic I Know
I have tried this one before and was distracted within the first five chapters but with the advise of a colleague I am going to attempt this one again. I am late 30's and sometimes have a tough time focusing for long spans of time unless the story is captivating from the get go, you have to appreciate writing for the sake of verb-age and description to get into this.

"There is nothing impossible to him that will but try." - Alexander
In Charles River Editors History for Kids series, your children can learn about historys most important people and events in an easy, entertaining, and educational way. This concise but comprehensive audiobook will keep your kid's attention all the way to the end.
Over the last 2,000 years, ambitious men have dreamed of forging vast empires and attaining eternal glory in battle, but of all the conquerors who took steps toward such dreams, none were ever as successful as antiquitys first great conqueror. Leaders of the 20th century hoped to rival Napoleons accomplishments, while Napoleon aimed to emulate the accomplishments of Julius Caesar. But Caesar himself found inspiration in Alexander the Great (356-323 BC), the Macedonian King who managed to stretch an empire from Greece to the Himalayas in Asia at just 30 years old. It took less than 15 years for Alexander to conquer much of the known world.
As fate would have it, Alexander died of still unknown causes at the height of his conquests, when he was still in his early 30s. Although his empire was quickly divided, his legacy only grew, and Alexander became the stuff of legends even in his own time. Alexander was responsible for establishing 20 cities in his name across the world, most notably Alexandria in Egypt, and he was directly responsible for spreading Ancient Greek culture as far east as modern day India and other parts of Asia. For the ancient world, Alexander became the emblem of military greatness and accomplishment; it was reported that many of Romes greatest leaders, including Pompey the Great, Augustus, and Caesar himself all visited Alexanders tomb in Alexandria, a mecca of sorts for antiquitys other leaders.
History for Kids: The Illustrated Life of Alexander the Great provides an entertaining look at the facts and myths surrounding one of historys most famous men and conquerors, while exploring the lasting legacy he left on the ancient world and todays world. Your kids will learn about Alexander the Great like never before.

    Too small
This book was an easy five minute read. I was hoping to have my daughter use it for homeschool, but there isn't much substance to it.
The Illustrated Life of Alexander the Great
Nicely written with clear and concise facts. Would recommend this book for those who want to understand who Alexander the Great is.

A great book for early counters!
"My Buddy Knows...Numbers" is a very creatively presented book to help children with initial concepts for counting. Like the first book in this series, "My Buddy Knows...Letters, " this book intertwines the same concept as flashcards. Children are given a chance to process and answer the question of how man items are present before the answer is given on the next page. Great book for early counters!
I was given a copy of this book for free with no expectation of a review. I greatly enjoyed this book and voluntarily decided to leave a review.
    Very empowering, fun book
This is the second book in the "My Buddy Knows" series. This one is about counting and features a little girl this time, which is great, because I love the idea of a girl knowing her numbers. The numbers are provided in a way that allows kids to figure out for themselves what the number is by counting objects (the houses are especially cute), and then when they turn the page, they find out they're right! Very empowering! And fun! Highly recommended book.
    Highly recommended
A great number book. Just right for tinies learning to count. I love the bright pictures on a white background, they stand out well. The cartoon like style is very effective (I particularly like the houses), and the whacky little buddy peeping out here and there is charming. I'm going to read this and the letters book to my smallest grandchildren aged three and four.
    My Buddy is Fun!
This is the second book I have read in the "My Buddy Knows" series. Young children will find this book easy to learn how to recognize amounts by using one-to-one correspondence as they count how many objects My Buddy is showing them.
    Cute little book!
This is a cute little book for super little ones. I like the way the little girl popped up to say my Buddy. That can be very encouraging to tiny tots when they are first learning to count.

Brings back early stories and puts them in a different perspectives and great art work to go along,
    Great Book!
One of the all time best children's books. I loved it as a child and now I love reading it to my daughter!
    Best fairy tales out there!
I read this book a million times to my children, I bought this one to read to my Grandkids!
    A Classic!
This picture book is timeless and never fails to entertain the reader. The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Student Tales contains classic folk tales retold with a very unique and hilarious spin. These tales include "The Stinky Cheese Man", "Chicken Licken", "The Really Ugly Duckling", "The Tortoise and the Hair", "Cinderumpelstiltskin", "Little Red Running Shorts", "Jack's Bean Problem", "The Princess and the Bowling Ball", and "The Other Frog Prince". All of these tales include the main characters from the original tale but altered in a comedic way to catch the reader's attention. Most of the stories include the classic "Once upon a time..." which will allow children to make connections with many stories they have seen or heard before, including Disney movies. All of the illustrations in the book are well drawn and complement the story perfectly.
This picture book is appropriate for most children as soon as they are able to read but also should not be taken too seriously. If you are going to use this in a school setting, make sure to remind students this book is not making fun of other stories, just providing an alternative storyline. Just to make sure that the students do not start making fun or harshly criticizing other's work. One of the best lesson plans that you can use this book with is exploring the idea of different points of view on a story or subject. You can simply provide the students with different versions of classic folktales and have them compare and contrast them. They can even rewrite the stories themselves and provide an alternative ending.
This used to be my FAVORITE book as a child
Came on time and free of any damage, looks brand new! This used to be my FAVORITE book as a child! I remember this was one of the books that was almost always checked out at my school's library, we literally had a waiting list for it! It is filled with fun and hilarious stories and is even fun to read again as an adult. Unique and interactive with the way the text is manipulated.
