Narrator is.... blah!

I am sure that Teri Clark Linden is a nice person, but... I could barely tolerate her voice as a narrator. In fact I could not complete listening to the presentation as her performance started to grate on my poor nerves. Teri used a Laura Petrie/Giselle (Mary Tyler Moore/ Amy Adams) voice- high, too innocent, annoying after a length of time for the women and when portraying a man... ug. It was straining. When she was simply reading descriptions it was all right enough, but when the voices started her portrayal was distracting from the storyline.

The audiobook includes two stories a Cinderella one and a Beauty and the Beast type story. The stories themselves are pleasant enough. Cindy and the Prince was sweet, easy to follow and predict. Classic Cinderella story with a modern re-telling. It was fun to clean and dust while listening. I didn't finish Some Kind of Wonderful because the performance killed the story for me. The male performance voice were just... bad.

Overall nice, but I would read it not listen to it if I had to do it again.

Not What I Was Looking For

I love fairy tales, and I love romance, but these stories were too much like a paperback romance novel. Teri Clark Linden did a great job reading the female voices. I loved her voice. But the males were not very well read.

Would you try another book from Debbie Macomber and/or Teri Clark Linden?

I will always keep trying another Debbie Macomber book. I've had a few disappointment... but overall, she transports me o a gentler place with good friends... much needed in my sometimes stressful life. Teri Clark Linden as a narrator, on the other hand is probably not something I would do again. She kept me from getting into an already hard to enjoy book. Her male voices sounded like they had horrid accents and snot filled noses.

What was most disappointing about Debbie Macombers story?

Both stories were so totally unbelievable. I have to "bite" to get into a book. Who falls in love and plans forever just like that? I need to be able to see myself or my friends in the books. I had hoped after hanging in with the first story, the 2nd one might be the saving grace. Not even close. Even worse. BUT, this being said, I have listened to so many DM books and have loved all but two. Those are pretty good odds. I will keep working my way down he list.

What didnt you like about Teri Clark Lindens performance?

She does not change characters very well. It was like stopped up munchkins speaking much of the time.

A Good Listen

I enjoyed listening to this book. It is a great story and well written.

Nappily full of drama!

Of the "Nappily" series I've read I enjoyed this one the most. I was very engrossed in the drama and suspense,I was on edge waiting to find out who will end up with custody of Mya; what was with the connection with Tevell Doval and Delma Hawkins and how did all of this fit in with Airic, Venus and Jake. I appreciated getting to know the new characters and their backstory.

Happy Reader

I really enjoyed this book. I have read all the books before this one and I just finished reading Nappily In Bloom, which was the last book the author published. I can not wait to listen to or read the next book in the series that will be coming out in May. I already have a copy on hold. I really enjoyed the Nappily series and look forward to reading more books from Trisha Thomas.

Amazon Verified Purchase of The Angel

This book is the second of a series of four novels by Carla Neggers. All four of these books keep you on the edge of your seat and are very hard to put down. The stories happen in Boston and Ireland, which I found delightful, and involve mystery, suspense and romance. The characters of all four books are in each of the four after they've been introduced. The first book, The Widow, sets the stage for the theme throughout the series. The third book is The Mist and the last is The Whisper. Things seem to be happening in an ethereal way, but the mystery comes out in the end. If you read one, you have to read them all! I always find books through Amazon's used book system and these were found easily. I've never been disappointed in the price or the quick service of receiving the books. If you like mystery, these four Carla Neggers' books are a great buy!

Didn't want to put it down

Wow! This book had me from the first page! A little mystical and a suspense-filled plot was just what I needed. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and some background about them unfolding and the surprise ending. This was a bit complicated but not so much you got side-tracked and the descriptive surroundings all added to an almost eerie suspense. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys contemporary drama and suspense, touched with a little romance. Definitely a good read! Kudos for Carla Neggers.

Not every Angel is good for you

As always, Carla delivers complex likable characters that you feel you have known forever. The locations in Boston and Ireland are so welly described it seems as you know the area and the residents. The story includes faith, ambition, loyalty and intrigue.

Great job and I look forward to more in this series. If you like Sharpe and Donovan you will love this series. Highly recommended.

Angels

Angel by Cliff Mcnish is about a girl when she was younger, could see an angel. And became obsessed, wanting to be one, and also wanting to see the angel that came to her once. And she is paying the price for it when she is younger, her family don't trust her about angels, because she promises she is not obsessed with them anymore, but when a angel and a girl who belives in them too shows up in her life. Things get tough.

I loved this book,I thought it was a good read. There isn't many angel books out there so when I read it. I couldn't put it down I wanted to know about the main character and the mysterious angel that shows up. I don't there are any cons about this book.

Irish Artistry

I've read pretty much everything Neggers has written, and this is probably one of her best.

It's a very solid mystery/thriller tale, with characters the reader comes to care about. There's a slight touch of magic around the edges; Ireland seems to have that effect on literature.

Enjoyed

This was a good romance in that you could really feel the attraction between the two main characters. Parts of the story (like most romances) were kind of kooky but I really enjoyed this one. I love the narrator and have discovered with audio books that it really makes a difference. Worth the money.

I have never wrote a review before but this book needed one. I LOVED this book a MUST READ.

Very steamy!

I really enjoyed this book. The writing is good, and it seems like the author did research on the subject. The story also flows well which kept me from getting bored. I would recommend this one!

Poor narration

The narration of this book probably ruined my impression of the writing more than necessary. The narrator mispronounced words and did not convey the Hispanic accent well. That was distracting enough that I probably thought less of the book than the writing deserves -- even though this was not a sterling example of even Romance fiction.

Awful. Just awful.

I can't even finish this book. The narrator is horrible. Completely annoying voice - she sounds like a cheerleader on speed. I keep waiting for this book to get interesting but I'm giving up. Pass on this one, folks, it isn't worth your time or Audible credit.

A fan, but not of this one

I am a real fan of Coulter's FBI series, but this particular story was too difficult to listen to in order for me to finish. The performance is a bit on the sugary side and lacked a true entertainment value. Probably a book better read than listened to.

Main character is obnoxious. You can't tell which character is talking. It was so bad I threw the headphones.

Uptight Doc Meets SEXY romance writer..3 star fun.

PLOT: Hot Doc David meets his opposite.

Chelsey Latimer finds HOT Doc....David....sexy but he is also a bit straight laced. The fun begins when she ends up in the ER and he has to examine her. This is funny and cute. Chelsey a very successful romance writer ends up with David the hot ER Doc...and the road to romance has plenty of bumps. This is a fun little romance and holds the interest. Good Book SoSo Narrator

I enjoyed the book well enough as I have the authors previous books. But the reader was severly lacking. I listen to a lot of audio books and there is only one reader I will avoid but after this book there will be two. You could not tell her male coworkers from her female coworkers. Other than that the story was worthwhile.

follow your dreams uphill

Why do we resist telling our family and devoted friends about the problems we face? It makes for good story-telling, but it's also typical of life. This is a very good story and I enjoyed it. The narrator used some really strange voices which I found unpleasant and unrealistic, so I'll steer clear of that particular narrator in future.

My life - badly acted...

I was looking for a nice light listen and instead got a rehash of my life with a manic-depressive by a horrid performer! This is one where I would say go out and buy the book and read it yourself if you like the premise - which, by the way, is: DON'T ignore warning signs - they're there for a reason!!

Interesting ups and downs that mirror life

I really enjoyed this book, probably even more than Davis's previous two. The character's struggle to deal with her hidden ambitions and attempt to manage a difficult marriage are themes many people can relate to. The book, including the ending, were compelling. I didn't like this narrator quite as much as the one for her last two books. The voices were annoying, particularly the one of Tad Showers. But I got over it because I was more interested in the book than the voice. Also, the protagonist might have seemed naive, but anyone going through a relationship with a person who has an undiagnosed mental illness (in my case, close family member) will understand how chaotic and confusing it can be, particularly when it's less probable that objectivity is a force in play. Very interesting read!

I typically love Kyra Davis' books. This one let me down. However, I did hear that it was based on her own life - that made it more tolerable.
