    Members Reviews:
This is a book about intense, all-consuming love.
Andy (Diana) loves her daughter, Hillary, and Tom, although she is afraid of loving Tom. But, in the end, he makes her and Hillary happy and whole. Tom loves Andy and Hillary and Scratch and most importantly the woods, the wildness of the woods, the Earth. Carter loves Andy and Hillary, but he can't have them. So Carter settles for Pat, who nobody loves. Pat loves nobody; she just wants to possess them, especially Tom. It's a good book. You should read it.
    A good story
I really wanted to love this book. It is a favorite of my cousin. She has read it at least twice. She loves all the author's books. It is the first time I've read anything by Anne Rivers Siddons.
I found the main character extremely annoying. She had no depth of character and seemed to over react to everything. Yes, the situation she was in was strange and deserved caution on her part and concern for her daughter. But when life didn't meet her expectations she just crumbled. She was very judgmental of others but overly sensitive to their opinions of her. She showed no ongoing loyalty to the 'love of her life.' And oh, did I mention that she cried a lot. I wanted to shake her and say 'get a grip girl.'
The story/tale was very good and that is what kept me going and why I give it three stars. I also liked all the other characters in the book.
    Yuck
I am not going to finish this book. Other Siddons books I have read contain complex characters and complex relationships, but this one has one-dimensional people and relationships that are mostly defined by the nature of their sexual encounters. Yawn. The character of Tom is ridiculous--is he supposed to be a modern day Pan??--and wa-ay overdrawn. The writing is preachy, overly dramatic, and seemingly designed to pad the novel. I am annoyed by the romanticized portrayal of hunting, by the whining and not-too-bright main character, and by the way the author's silly portrayal of "woods worship" actually cheapens the idea that there is something spiritual in Nature. Blech. What a disappointment.
    I like her stories
I guess I'll have to write this again and again; I got on a kick of Anne Rivers Siddons. I like her stories. A couple of her books made me cry a lot, but it was a good cry.
but this book started off good and then about 1/2 the way through it became ...
Never thought I would say this about Anne Rivers Siddons, but this book started off good and then about 1/2 the way through it became laughable and unreal. I have thoroughly enjoyed all her other books, but this one somehow got stupid.

Volume 2 in the Secrets Serials by NY Times Best-selling Author H.M. Ward
Sexy thoughts about Cole fill Anna's dreams. Every detail burns brightly in her mind; the way his hands feel on her bare skin, the soft brush of his lips against hers, and the way their bodies fit perfectly together. Anna awakes breathless, tingling as if it really happened. What caused her to think about Cole like that? It was completely forbidden.
And Anna didn't feel that way about him, at least she didn't think she did. Cole was fun to flirt with, that's all, and the sexual tension between them was normal, right? Everyone has that from time to time with some super-hot guy. It made sense. Her mind was just telling her that she needs a boyfriend.
But what if Cole's the right guy? What if he's right there and Anna lets him slip through her fingers? Cole's more than she bargained for, with enough sex appeal to make Anna realize everything she's been missing.

    weak, dragged along story...
What disappointed you about Secrets Vol. 2?
Narrator is really good, but even she couldn't save the book. There is no actual story (or at least up to this 'volume' there was none. The dialogue is superfluous and forced. This is a very disappointing usage of a credit for only 3 hrs of nothing noteworthy. It's a rip off.

    Much More Than a Dandelion
What did you love best about Accept This Dandelion?
Humor and a clean read makes this a fun listen
What did you like best about this story?
Although the plot is predicable, the author creates great sexual tension without porn. She writes sassy humor well.
What three words best describe Susan Sorianos performance?
    Female voices great.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Chucking as I read many antics of Renee in front of Ben. The two sign up for the local Bachelor -type show for the same reason, to improve their image. And then the fire begins, literally. Fun and sassy this book gives an entertaining read. Even when the expected happens, the writing satisfies. I'm looking forward to more from Brooke Williams. PG13. Great humor and well written passion .
    Such a fun book!
This was a really cute book. I really enjoyed the humor and the sweet romance. I thought it was refreshing to see a character totally being herself rather than trying to impress someone and doing what was expected. She gets herself in lots of awkward situations, which made me laugh out loud. I listened to the Audible audio version and the narrator, Susan Soriano, did a great job. She sounded exactly as I would have pictured the character. This was just such a fun book, and if you're looking for a light rom-com, you should check this one out.
    Comedy romance
I loved this comedy romance and the main characters, Renee and Ben. The plot scenes are like the tv show, The Bachelor. Even as I rooted for Renee, I felt for Eva. Eva needs a story of her own. Brooke Williams did a great story. This was my first audiobook and my first read of this author. I was gifted this audiobook. Thank you, Brooke William!
    A Fun Romantic Read
This was a really fast easy listen, with likeable characters and unexpected plot twists. If you are looking for romance while balancing it with a strong female main character, this book is for you.

    Expressing anger is healthy.
    Wanda's gonna live forever.
For Wanda Lane, life has been one long string of screw-ups. Her abusive ex-husband keeps threatening to kill her, she just lost her crappy job, and a head injury (sustained while diving off the witness stand to attack an obnoxious attorney) has left her hearing phantom music no one else can hear. It isn't until she hits the rock bottom of her bottle of scotch that she begins to wonder if maybe - just maybe - the problem is her.
On her pothole-ridden path to becoming a decent human being, she makes friends with Elizabeth, a single mother looking for her own solid ground; Father Gregory, the patient priest who counsels Wanda, even though she's not technically Catholic; and Walter, a Jimmy-Stewart-ish lawyer who is smart, sexy and single...and so far out of Wanda's league that she thinks he must have been sent from God as one last punishment for her past transgressions. Can an angry, lost woman find her way back from failure, or are second chances the stuff of myth?
    Wanda's gonna find out.
You may want to move out of her way.

If you are thinking about this book,
I urge you to get the audiobook - not the physical book.
I believe some of the 3 star reviews by others would have been higher if they listened to the audiobook instead of reading the paperback or ebook. The audiobook narrator Hillary Hawkins is a COMIC GENIUS!!!!! Hillary emphasized different words and interpreted things differently than I would. If I were reading the book I might say a line one way which would make the heroine unlikeable, but the narrator read it in a way that made me laugh.
Bottom line: I laughed many times!!!!
It also had one of my favorite tropes: Main character on a journey of changing herself.
There is a lot of swearing. But its not like some books where a guy says the f-word in every other sentence as his regular way of talking. Wanda swears in response to things like when she is angry or insulting someone. Im not a fan of swearing but Im usually ok reading it. So, you need to be open to it.
I kept thinking how did the author come up with this character? And then I kept thinking how does she come up with so many funny lines? (But remember, if I were reading the line it would not be as funny as Hillary reading it.)
    THE STORY
is about a smart competent woman who made stupid choices, including marrying a loser abusive husband. (She had a reason and I could kind of buy it.) She is divorced, meets a great guy, but delays a relationship until she can get her life fixed. There is a nice romantic ending, but most of the story is about Wanda and various people in her life.
    Narrative mode: 1st person Wanda.
    Genre: humorous contemporary romance.

    Publisher: Audible Studios

    Genres: Romance, Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
Jack of Hearts is a novel of literary fiction told from the point of view of a small, aristocratic dog named Shimoni. This imaginative first novel explores themes of fidelity and honor and offers a fresh perspective of Italian culture and amore.
Shimoni's passion for Italian cuisine and Elvis are rivaled only by his devotion to his masters, a Roman Count and Countess. However, his discovery that Il Conte is having an affair imperils his comfortable life and plunges Shimoni into a quest to rekindle his masters' love and preserve his home.
The path to reconciliation leads Shimoni from the bustling streets of Rome to his owners' rustic villa in the Italian countryside, where he outwits man and beast to save his family, all while making time to fall in love and sample the local Chianti. Shimoni's (mis)adventures yield poignant observations about the nature of love and longing, and the soul's ability to find satisfaction.
An intoxicating blend of adventure, romance, and joi de vivre, Jack of Hearts will appeal to literary devotees, Italophiles and dog-lovers. Author, Robin F. Gainey dishes up a sensuous story with plenty of heart, and empathy for the human, as well as the canine condition.

    Jack of Hearts
If you ever owned a dog you will love this book. If you've ever been in Italy or want to go to Italy, you will love this book. I was captivated not only by the sights and smells of Rome and the Tuscan countryside, but by the hero and narrator, a Jack Russell Terrier, Shimoni. Who better to create images in the mind than a dog for as Shimoni says, "Mornings in Rome, sensuous and filled with sundry odors, are lost on the noselessness of man. Somewhere along the line of evolution, humans shirked scent for sight and, in my opinion, the finer details of living were lost." Here's one example of the many descriptive passages, "A large black ant scaled one of my paws. I picked it off, crunching it with my back molars. A lovely lemon flavor filled my mouth. The taste reminded me of Capri, the tart lemons hanging from overhead trellises, zest clinging to long pasta." If you've ever watched a dog and wished to know what it was thinking, Robin Gainey has captured it and along the way has shared the life philosophy of a dog, put into practice. "Dogs value bravery above all else; its degree, the measure of every dog. It is the noblest of canine virtues." Shimoni's bravery is put to the test as he takes on the job of reconciling his master and mistress whose relationship has evolved from great love to possible divorce and Shimoni was not about to lose his happy home. Within this story are many wonderful relationships of dog to dog and dog to human and pearls of canine wisdom. Here's just a sample: "... I realized that it was in simple acts, whether pleasant or unkind, that points of view were turned. And in so turning, the flow of life was changed," and "...never look back. The source of all problems was a refusal to forgive....dogs never let their past define them." The images created by this book stay with you long after you have put it down and it will touch your heart.
    HEARTWARMING STORY!
Perhaps seeing the world through the eyes of Shimoni, the novel's main character--who happens to be a very small dog--is what I enjoyed most about the novel.

    Ok short story
I purchased this book after reading the 1st 14 chapters for free. I was very disappointed. I was left feeling like "was this it." Most of the book seemed like rambling and blah blah blah. It was more of a short story, not a novel.
    Great read, left wanting more.

Reckless Night in Rio (One Night In...)
Laura left Gabriel when after a "reckless nite" in Rio left her hurting. Now he needs her back to pretend to love him so that he can close a deal with someone who wants to sell Gabriel's family business. But to seal the deal he, Gabriel, must prove that he is does not want the other man's fiancee, who happens to be an old mistress of his. The only woman to be able to pull that off is his ex PA, Laura. But she has her own secrets that she needst to keep from Gabriel. Not one of the best stories by Jennie Lucas. Too much male ego for my taste. But I have and will read more of her works.
    An Enjoyable Story.
Gabriel and Laura's story was wonderful to read and beautifully written. I enjoyed the description of Rio. This book was a great read.
    A Romance Junkie
I just finished reading this this book and I loved it! Loved it! Loved It!! Gabriel and Laura had a history, she had been his personal assistant a year ago and now he needed her to help close a deal. She had quit her job after a night of hot sex with her boss- now he needed her help, but she had a baby now and she'd have to tell him sooner or later that he was a father! Gabriel didn't want to have a family, but he sure as hell wanted Laura and reading this hot story took my breath away. I read it in one day, and all I have to say is HOT Hot Hot!! I truly couldn't put it down. Laura was not your typical heroine, she was tough, smart, and not a push over. Gabriel was handsome, rich, and Brazilian- what's not to love. I recommend this book highly.
    A lovely story
Great the job on this!! And Laura is beautiful I wish she had more confidence though and Robbie was adorable!! A GREAT READ TO HAVE
