    Great Story
This was such a tender and sweet short story. It shows you how when you're ready and find the right person love happens. This story was not just sweet, but also very sexy! I can't wait to read the next story.
    Great love story
What a magnificent story of love! A story of love that most women would envy! Characters are relatable and easy to like! Great job Melanie!
    Love At First Touch
What made the experience of listening to A Valentine's Surprise the most enjoyable?
The narrator was amazing! She kept me wanting to listen even when the characters annoyed me :)
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I loved the way family was so important to both of them :)
Amanda annoyed me a few times pretty bad but that's probably a personal issue with her type of character lol
What does Bailey Varness bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
Bailey Varness breathes life into this novella in unexpected ways. Her incredible performance makes you stick with the characters even when you want to throttle them :) I believe I wouldn't have finished this book if I had been reading it because of my intense dislike of one of the characters but I am glad her narration made me stick with it! It was a very good story in the end and I can't wait to listen to the next one :)
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The lunch date was funny. Especially as everyone was conspiring to make it happen.
    Any additional comments?
This series must be listened to (or read) in order. This is the first book. I can't wait to listen to A Deadly Obsession!
Amanda has always been the type.of person to keep to herself. She took care of her parents growing up because of sever illnesses. Noone understood her devotion to them which left her pretty much friendless and alone. Not that she had time for socializing in the first place! After her her father died when she was 13 her mother developed cancer. When her mother died she decided to go into nursing because helping people who were sick had become a calling. Between her work and her extended family she feels.as though her life is full enough. She is content until she has Adam (an injured police officer too attractive for his own good) as a patient. Why does he intrigue her so? Why does him calling her Angel melt her heart? Can he be worth the danger of getting involved and opening her heart?
Adam has had to put his own life on hold to raise his baby sister. How parents were killed by a drunk driver when she was only 12. He didn't want to expose her to anymore heartache while she was growing up so he subsisted with one night stands and kept all of that private. She was never exposed to a woman he had been with. Besides he had never met a woman he would risk everything for... One he wanted to marry. When he wakes in a drug addled haze he is immediately smitten with Amanda.

If you like Insta-Love, you'll love this book
I enjoyed the writing and the story line but I couldn't get on board with the I met you today, went home with you, and loved you by day 2. I just can't feel the love when there is no build up. I did really like the characters, they were very realistic & likable, the sexy scenes were steamy and the narration was pretty good too!

    Publisher's Summary:
They're back - the boys you go out looking for precisely because your mother warned you not to - the bad boys every good girl needs at least once, if not twice! Raphael "Rafe" Santiago may have left the streets years ago, but the street has never left him. A rough childhood in the Bronx taught him never to let his guard down, to keep everything in order, and always to trust that little voice in his gut that tells him when someone's got something to hide.
Horse trainer Elena Caulfield, is definitely hiding something, and Rafe intends to find out what it is and take care of it - his way. But his way wasn't supposed to include feeling an intense attraction to the tomboyish Elena. With her mud-caked boots, quiet strength, and gentle manner, she's nothing like the flashy, seductive, overtly feminine women Rafe usually beds. The closer he gets to her, the harder it is to control that fiery passion he's worked hard to keep cooled, the kind that can catch a man off guard and leave him open to danger - because whatever secret Elena's protecting, it's big - and worth killing for. Because when you're from the Bronx, you take care of what you love - or die trying!

    No hiding this great story!
I was given this book by the author.
I thought this audio book was great! This was my twelfth Kauffman book. I love Donna Kauffman's books and this one was no different! This is the story of Rafe and Elena. Elana is a horse trainer who is working for the wife of one of Rafe's friends. It is obvious to Rafe that Elana is hiding something or hiding from someone. He is determined to find out what her story is. When Rafe approaches Elana on the pretense of wanting riding lessons from her, Elana is drawn to him, but terrified to get too close to him at the same time.
Kauffman had just the right mix of suspense, engaging dialogue and sizzle to make this a very enjoyable story. Although there were some editing issues, the narration by Sebastion York was beguiling to listen to. He drew me in...and kept me there.
Good story but not so good narration.
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
For the most part. The narration made this slightly boring.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Added a female narrator as well. York is pretty much a one-note performer.
What didnt you like about Sebastian Yorks performance?
While I generally like Sebastian York's voice in other audiobooks, there was very little inflection or tonal changes. Hero is of Hispanic heritage yet there is no accent whatsoever even when he says the one Spanish word ever uttered in the entire book, "mijita" (little girl), never mind the exceedingly boring representation of the heroine.
Could you see The Black Sheep and the Hidden Beauty being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
    Mmm...not really.
    Any additional comments?
Just an 'ok' read overall. Would not re-listen to.

    Lovely second entry
This was a great second entry in the Summerhill series. Portia was very interesting (although I'm not quite sure what she's been up to for 30-odd years if she didn't study or work, but I guess that's because I'm not British royalty and I'm confused as to how they spend their time, but I'm digressing), and Jackson was a delight. The chemistry between them was great, and as total opposites they clicked and brought out the best in each other. The B-plot was also great - to the point where I think it could've been a standalone novel, but I'll take Meredith and Quinn in any way I can.
As with before, my only issue is that people get engaged a month after they meet. I have my reservations with that, although it's meant to be the 'love at first sight' thing. Plus, Jack's constantly wearing his cowboy hat? Really? And his dad is a total ass, there's no way around it; I could barely tolerate him and just wanted to tell him to fudge off every time he appeared or spoke. But, overall, I loved the story, how we're given more insight to Imogen and Viola, and Luca... I really want to get to his story with Bea.
    But onto Imogen, now!
    Funny, charming, and refreshing
I loved the story of Portia and Jack. Kate Perry brings these characters to life wonderfully, and the Summerhill series brings new life into the world she created in the Laurel Heights books.

Not as good as the first 2.
I was hoping this was as good as the first two but I really didn't care for it. The story line and writing style seemed a little juvenile. Although I have read another book with a "living " house, this one doesn't hit the mark. The characters lacked depth and in general were not people that I could empathize with.

Pretty good but it could have used more character development
I have mixed feelings about this book as well as this author. I actually really liked both main characters and for the most part their story was pretty good. What I didn't like, and what has long been a problem for me with this author, is that she spends too much time on secondary stories that have no bearing whatsoever on the main story. I truly believe that Kate Perry is a wonderful writer but it seems to me that her characters are never fully flushed out because she ALWAYS has a secondary story. Rosalind and Nick had so much potential but unfortunately you don't hear much discussion about their lives. Rosalind lives all the way in San Francisco and is a wedding dress designer and Nick is a Formula One driver for goodness sake! There is sooooo much to talk about here but the two characters never discuss their lives, yet they fall in love. The characters in the secondary story were very interesting and probably deserved their own story, but instead they were thrown into this one. This made no sense to me because neither of the main characters knew these people so it added zero benefit to the content of the story.
After all this you may ask why I spent the money on the book. Well...it was on sale for $.99 and I was entertained. But throughout the whole thing I kept wondering when the main characters were going to have a real conversation about their lives.
A promising start to a new series
I LOVED this story. I read all of Kate's Laurel Heights books and while I was a bit hesitant of getting into a new series, I'm glad I jumped in.
Rosalind is straightforward, honest and goes after what she wants, and I found her refreshing as a character who's unapologetic of wanting to hook up with a guy (Nick) and who's not concerned about anything but her needs. The actual problem that arises with the lies is quite interesting, but I get the sense she would've been a bit angrier when the truth came out.

Review: Save the Date, by Susan Hatler
Its been awhile since Ive read one of Susan Hatlers books, and now that Ive read another, I know Ive been missing out.
A few years ago when I read my first few Hatler books, I enjoyed them because they were short, simple, yet romantic stories. Theyre perfect when Im in the mood for a light read but also need enjoyable characters and great writing. With Save the Date I received just what I was looking for.
The Better Date than Never series follows characters with connected lives, yet even with the time gap between the last book in the series I read and now, I dont feel like I was out of the loop. It was easy to jump into the story and discover the characters and storyline (which if I remember right are mostly new, with only a little back story mentioned from a previous book).
I liked what Hatler did with Kristen and her story. It only added to the enjoyment when the romance aspect popped up in the story, and even then it wasnt easy to predict exactly what was going to be the outcome.
So as I said, this was another great Hatler read. It was quick and sweet and just what I needed to help me in a current book funk. I wont be waiting too long to read more from the series now that Ive had another taste.
    cuteness overload
    I'm so enjoying this series.
a wonderful collection of sweet short romance stories about a circle of friends
    ALL ROMANCE#!! ALL THE TIME!!!--
GREAT STORY HAS EVERYTHING A ROMANCE NEEDS FOR READER. WELL WORTH U R TIME!!!!!!------Great writer
wonderful addition to my audio library
Where does Save the Date rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
It rates up there at the top. I loved it! Funny and the listener really gets involved with the story.
What other book might you compare Save the Date to and why?
I would compare them to Jill Shalvis or Kristin Higgins. The books are hilarious and are full of things that happen to women every day.
    Which scene was your favorite?
My favorite scene was when Kristen was telling her friends if she had done a background check on her previous boyfriend, it would have saved her a lot of time and misery. I also learned a new word:skeevy. That has become my favorite word right now.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book made me laugh out loud while I was listening at work and in the car. I didn't want to stop listening when I got home at one point.
    Another Winner from Susan Hatler!
    I really liked this story.

    Members Reviews:
Liked the story, just not the narrator.
I enjoyed the book, but that narrator was reading like she did Stage Plays for a living. I do like plays, but her reading was overdone. Ebony and Brian's relationship was cute and believable.
    GOOD and BAD
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
    No. Poor narrating.
What other book might you compare A Heart Not Easily Broken to and why?
Incarcerated. Love had to overcome some serious difficulty.
What didnt you like about Quiana Goodrums performance?
TOO fast and everyone is ALWAYS speeding through daisies. Meeting for drinks, arguing, making love. Very annoying. Performance improved toward the end.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Can t judge a book by it s cover.
Kept my attention.Good (bwwm) story. EMOTIONAL!
If you could sum up A Heart Not Easily Broken in three words, what would they be?
    EMOTIONAL rollercoaster ride
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Heart Not Easily Broken?
    The attack. (ick)
What does Quiana Goodrum bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
The lead character's accent was cadence was to rapid but, the other characters where fine. But, I still enjoyed the book. She did well.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
    The fight scene.
    Any additional comments?
Can't wait for the next book to be in audible version.
    Versatile Narrator!
Would you consider the audio edition of A Heart Not Easily Broken to be better than the print version?
Comparing the audio edition of A Heart Not Easily Broken to the print version is like comparing apples to oranges. I just loved this story on its own, but I also love the series. When reading a story, you conjure up images and you hear it in your head in your own voice. The audio version of this story came close to what I heard in my head reading the story.
    Any additional comments?
I would say Quiana did a great job with inflection, accents and adding bass to her voice when doing the male roles. You know who is whom.In addition, I really liked the "soundtrack" in this version. I loved the music chosen for the different scenes, but sometimes it overpowered the narrator.
    An Emotional Rollercoaster
If you could sum up A Heart Not Easily Broken in three words, what would they be?
    Relevant. Thought-provoking. Engaging.
Which character as performed by Quiana Goodrum was your favorite?
While I enjoyed Ebony most, Quiana's ability to seamlessly transition from one character to the next caused me to forget that she was performing.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I experienced various emotions while listening to A Heart Not Easily Broken, laughing and crying were only a few.

    Very strong BDSM story
Would you try another book from Delilah Devlin and/or J. F. Harding?
Possibly, I enjoyed the characters although it was quite far fetched
Would you recommend His Every Fantasy to your friends? Why or why not?
not sure - the explicit BDSM might make it awkward to recccomend to others
What about J. F. Hardings performance did you like?
    a great southern accent
Could you see His Every Fantasy being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
    No
Good Outline Delilah, Needed Just a Bit More
Would you try another book from Delilah Devlin and/or J. F. Harding?
yes, as book #1 was very good. This started out fast, but continued as if it were just the outline of the story. Yes, this is a BDSM story, but even those portions needed something...less on the surrounding plantation and foliage. If this story is a continuation of #1, it fails to keep the tension stated in the synopsis.
If youve listened to books by Delilah Devlin before, how does this one compare?
DD books are mixed! I keep buying them, but have been disappointed on a few selections.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
J.F. has a great reading voice. He does a great Cajun accent, but you must like them. I do not and therefore it took away from MY listening experience. JF does a nice job on female voice so I do hope he continues to do Romance reads.
Was His Every Fantasy worth the listening time?
No, it was not for me. It was an auto download for me when it came out due to book #1. That book is HOT. This book had so much potential, but failed to deliver.
    Any additional comments?
If there is a #3 book, I will be awaiting fellow reviewers comments before I purchase. I did not check if listerners reviewed book #1 and I was surprised I am the first to review this book. What was odd, I had to go to written word reviews to get the story outline. Audible, put this one on sale!
