The book tells a story that has deep moral repercussions. My problem with it is it takes places that are real and calls attention to things that may or may not be happening? There is nowhere on or in the book that says it it Fiction and since it is my home state that is getting his bad depictions, I have an issue with the entire book. Sorry, but if you are a Texan you may not want to read this one.

Be prepared for alot of religion and politics
What disappointed you about The Arrival?
It felt like more than half the book was taken up by complaints about the liberal government and religion. The prepurchase description didn't provide any clue that was really the majority of the book. The underneath story line that I was expecting was buried.
Would you ever listen to anything by James W. Brazier again?
    No
Which character as performed by Elliot Schiff was your favorite?
    They were all similiar
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointed in that the pre-purchase description of the plot really match
    Any additional comments?
    The narrator was very good.
I hope that there is a sequel soon!
it starts our slow than it bounces around a little, so you have to remain patient and then the tory line starts to make sense. Then you are hooked but the ending was cut short and you wanted more.
Perhaps the worst Audible Boek. Ever
What would have made The Arrival better?
The removal of all political and cultural misrepresentations.
Would you ever listen to anything by James W. Brazier again?
    No.
What didnt you like about Elliot Schiffs performance?
He had no material to work with.
What character would you cut from The Arrival?
    All of them.
    Any additional comments?
Most novels promote a politial/cultural point of view. This was so over the top that it was nearly intolerable.
    What a disappointment
What was most disappointing about James W. Braziers story?
A nauseating mix of right wing US politics, religious clap trap and pro life intolerance permiates this book. It is a clumsy and very unsubtle attempt by the author to advance his world view; god is real (the Christian one that is) and Islam is the work of the devil... Thank goodness FBI Agent Rashid has begun to see the beauty and truth of the Bible and the flaws in the Koran. Just glad it's over...

    Publisher's Summary:
Luke Cooper dreamed of flying. He was an Olympic-caliber skier with a bright future, when a freak accident ruined his knee and sent him into suicidal depression. A stranger, Dr. Henri de Salvo, gave him a reason to live and a new set of "wings" thanks to an experimental medical treatment. With new focus, Luke turned to a career in medicine, a career that led him to accept an invitation to a secluded clinic in France, where de Salvo continued his cutting edge - if morally questionable - work.
Lured by the chance to help other athletes recover their lives and intoxicated by a world of smooth cognac, beautiful women, and dark intrigue, Luke finds himself drawn into another world. De Salvo has a shadowed past and powerful enemies, and the French city of Toulon has its dark side. Through amazing medical breakthroughs, run-ins with the Corsican mob, and clubs where men fight for big money - and women - Luke searches for his own path. The question is, will he survive the journey, and can he live up to the age-old medical adage, "First, do no harm" while following the message of his own heart: "First, do something...."
    Critic Reviews:
"Block 10 is an engrossing, intelligent medical thriller on par with the best of Robin Cook. I was hooked from the opening chapter and stayed up late turning the pages." (Robert Dugoni, author of The Jury Master)
    Members Reviews:
A very good and entertaining thriller
    Any additional comments?
Block 10 from Stacy Childs and David Niall Wilson is a very good medical thriller that centers around Luke Cooper, a professional downhill skier turned doctor, who finds himself in hot water after moving to France to practice in an experimental clinic. Luke is a brilliant Diagnostician whose only aim is to help other athletes to recover from debilitating injuries. Unfortunately, there are others with more sinister motives that want Luke all for themselves and are willing to go to any lengths to get what they want.
A fast paced and expertly narrated thriller that has multiple layers to the story and more than a few colorful characters. Overall, a very good and entertaining thriller.
*I was provided a review copy of the audiobook from the publisher in exchange for an honest review and this is it.
    Hoped for more
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I would have added more medical related things and put the fighting into the back. It was a medical thriller yet it seemed like I was always hearing about a fighting match.
If youve listened to books by Stacy Childs and David Niall Wilson before, how does this one compare?
I have not listened to any other books by these authors.
Which character as performed by Corey M. Snow was your favorite?
I would have to say that I enjoyed Fiona the most. She was simple yet complex enough to be enjoyable.
Did Block 10 inspire you to do anything?
No, I can not say that it did.
    Any additional comments?
I received an audio copy of this courtesy of audioblast and the publisher for a honest, unbiased review all opinions are my own.
    Somewhat Philosophical Sports Medical Thriller
Where does Block 10 rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Block 10 ranks up near the top, mostly because of the great job that the narrator does in performing such a wide array of characters at a good level.

One of the best books I've listened to this year
Would you listen to Torment again? Why?
Not sure on that one. It was great story but it makes me want something new from the author.

The new female doctor. I liked her just because she didn't fall intimidated as the other characters did.
What does Elaine Wise bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
I think her accent of course helps since the story took place in the UK. But also her performance, tone and emotion. She very well. I would recommend her again.

    Medical Mystery at its Best
If you like medical mysteries, (or any mysteries) this is a must read. Clever subject matter, well-written, and keeps you on your toes. Just when you think you know who did it, it takes another turn. Michael Orenstein did an excellent job narrating the story as well. I look forward to the next novel.

    Publisher's Summary:
Nicolette Scott is an archaeologist whose knowledge of early airplanes has won her kudos as an expert, a reputation for ignoring authority, and a job at the Smithsonian. Shortly after she begins working there, she is thrilled to be included in the museum's latest project. E-Group, a large pharmaceutical company, is equipping an expedition to a remote region of Alaska, where a Japanese "Val" bomber plane was shot down during World War II. It's a gamble, but the money is being provided, and if the small group of experts can locate the plane and somehow bring it back to Washington, it will be a coup - and a boost for Nicolette's career.
Not long after the search begins, Nicolette is shocked to discover that there is a darker reason for E-Group's generous sponsorship. The expedition's real goal reaches all the way back to the great Spanish flu epidemic of 1918 - 1919, grimly nicknamed "the Spanish Lady," which killed millions around the world. The virus of this flu still exists in those few victims who are preserved in frozen ground - and once the pharmaceutical company learns that three World War I veterans searching Alaska for gold had died of the disease near the Val, they will do everything in their power to get their hands on the bodies.
Unless Nicolette risks her own life to defuse E-Group's nefarious plan, the lives of hundreds of millions will be at stake.

    Title: Antidote
Subtitle: A Robert Cook Mystery Thriller
    Author: John Patrick Lonergan

    Format: Unabridged
Length: 9 hrs and 52 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 10-17-14
    Publisher: ACX
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 8 votes
Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Medical Thrillers
    Publisher's Summary:
Antidote is about the very real danger that, in the future, bacteria can be used as weapons of terror. In this story, a group of Soviet Georgians develop a strain of common bacteria and create an epidemic against the Russian High Command. Robert Cook, a microbiologist in La Jolla helps track down the perpetrators through France, Moscow, and the Georgian republic. The novel features the sights, sounds and tastes of those lands, while bringing in enough science to interest the lay listener who likes a galloping thriller...
    Members Reviews:
It is a very well written mystery thriller
Antidote presents and explores a very real danger to the world in the terms of microbiology and bacteria. Not only the creation of such a deadly danger but one that many would not hesitate to use as a weapon to exact punishment or revenge or to provide one with a greedy style temperament the means to world domination.
Robert Cook is a techno cop and microbiologist. He is charged with discovering what and who released a deadly strain of staph infection that renders the victim dead within a matter of days. There is no known cure and no one has the slightest idea of where it originated. Through his contacts and sleuthing he discovers the likely culprit and pursues him. After learning the reasoning behind the theft of the deadly strain of staph and how it happened to be released Cook makes political stand that would leave most politicians quaking in their boots!
It is a very well written mystery thriller. It is believable and provides enough fodder for everyone who reads this book to have nightmares for a lifetime! Realistically written, attention to detail and character development is superb. I am not one to read a lot of mystery thrillers such as this but found it to be interesting and attention holding. It was captivating to see how easily ones plan (incidentally a plan implemented for good) can turn into a major nightmare and cost hundreds of people their lives. It makes me wonder how truly accurate and close to the truth this book is in todays world.
John Patrick Lonergan did an excellent job researching and writing this book. While it could easily have been written in a scientific style, he did a great job at writing it in layman terms.
Dan Lawson did an excellent job at narrating the book. His voice was just as I pictured Robert Cook as sounding. He became Robert Cook by the end of the book.
ACX provided a clear production of Antidote, one free of distracting noises and glitches.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, and I have. You can see Mr.Lonergan's complete understanding of the subject matter (germ warfare) from the beginning.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Antidote?
The crossing into Georgia from Russia.
Which character as performed by Dan Lawson was your favorite?
His voices for the computers and his Slavic accents were wonderful, but my favorite was Robert Cook. I could feel his life.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me a bit nervous.
    Any additional comments?
This book started off kind of slow; both the writing and the narration.
